I love TH-cam for letting people who cannot be further apart in this world relate to each other's lives. There's something so beautiful in common humanity
I like this approach to reading a book, taking yourself to the places they've been must really change how you understand things. Thanks so much for this different outlook :)
The best experience I had in that regard, was when I was reading a book called Exciting Times in Hong Kong, and read about the main characters eating salad from M&S, and realized I had just had salad from M&S at HK botanical garden the day before...I smiled all day because of that:)
Thank you🫶it’s always been my goal to upload once a week, and I have consistently failed at it for the past 4 years. I realized there must be something wrong with my approach. This year I’m giving up on ruling myself with an iron fist, and treating myself with compassion, so that I only post videos from the bottom of my heart. I think that will lead to more videos over all - and hopefully I’ll get to one video a week soon:)
this is the first video i watched from you and it's just so refreshing to watch you go around and live in the moment. so relaxing, so inspiring. you inspire me to work on my mandarin so I can enjoy China when I come to visit.
I love the relaxed feeling of this diary - things are what they are, take a few moments to enjoy the way life is, no pressure. Also snow! I miss winter. 😊Beautiful editing and narration!
Thank you for saying this🫶 lately I’ve been trying to make peace with the idea that things are what they are, and allowing myself to enjoy the journey. It’s very liberating. Hope you take care:)
I stumbled across your vlog randomly today and so glad I did. I live in BJ (but originally from overseas). It's so odd to see so many places I go to frequently make an appearance in your video. You really captured it well. You said something about all your friends who previously lived here have all left now, which is so on point. Beijing is such a transient city, and as beautiful as it is, it can feel lonely too. Keep well and hope you come back for a visit some time soon.
the last passage from the book you read us is very true. i have crippling anxiety and leaving the house was always a big deal for me but one day i found myself leaving the house casually just the way i would walk to my living room and i noticed i can find this comfort of home anywhere within myself
hi evelyn!! i’ve always loved watching your videos. back when you were still living in beijing, i would watch your videos to see what life in beijing looked like as i always loved visiting it. i ended up moving to beijing around the same time that you left for guangzhou, and it really feels like a second home to me. now, seeing your video revisiting beijing feels crazy to me because i can recognise the different places you visited, as i have been there myself before since moving here ☺️ i’m happy that you got some closure during this trip, and i wish you all the best in this beautiful year ahead❤
I lived in Beijing for 5 years and used to go to most of the places you visited in this video. Zarah was one of my fav spots, went twice a week usually. Thank you so much for this video, what a walk down memory lane 💕
I really, really enjoy your videos so so much!! Your videos always give me this calm, nostalgic vibes and I can't get enough of it! Cannot wait to come to China (Shanghai) this month for my exchange semester! Thank you for creating these amazing videos. 🥰
Beautiful vlog, you've made me miss Beijing! It's been 5 years since my last visit and Beijing would have to be one of my favourite cities I've ever visited.
I love your vlogs!!! thank you for your hard work! also my favourite band is playing in the background at one point in the video which was a nice surprise haha
just how do you do it??? this video makes me miss Beijing so much, even though I've never been there before!! i totally understand the nostalgia of revisiting an old home, and the feeling that you're no longer a part of the scene, but a tourist, an onlooker. thanks for sharing 💗
actually I rarely leave comments on TH-cam, but this time I do. Since I watched and followed your vlogs, I've always wanted to take myself on a date, love traveling and experiencing alone. your videos make me feel better and relaxed in some ways naturally. I am learning Chinese and I also like to visit Beijing one day. Hope you release new videos more regularly.
I'm so glad you feel better after watching my videos! Strangely I feel better after making them too...Good luck with learning Chinese! Hope you get to visit beijing soon
Evelyn, glad to see you in TH-cam again! this video just reminded me of my previous life in Beijing. Though I have always said that I don't like it cuz it is too vast comparatively I am so little and alone, I missed it so much by following your trip. Now I am about to start my new journey in Shanghai on my own. Wish both of us good luck! btw, I also like the book 我与地坛. It is my favorite book last year!
All the best in Shanghai!! Beijing feels like a past life to me too…for whatever reason I’m still not ready to say goodbye even though I’ve already left🥲 hope you feel at home in SH:)
Love your vlogs 😊 So happy for this new video! I also love your book recommendations. I got the book "Before the coffee gets cold" after hearing you talk about it in one of your vlogs and I fell in love with the stories. So human and emotional.
There's something really nice about the editing style in this video. I really like the music transitions and story telling. I'm gonna study this video and take notes for my own video editing projects 😊
happy to have you back!! I've been taking lots of time to think about life lately because there will be lots of big changes in my life this year...Thank you for being patient:)
I'll be seeing a lot of that in Berlin this winter...I hope when the time comes for me to move there the tree branches will start to feel less depressing and more like a vibe
You should totally visit🥰 China is so stereotyped on the news that it almost doesn’t seem like the real life I’m living here…so happy to get to share my favorite city through my lens!
😊 Thank you for coming to Fiction Night, I was happy to see you there too! (A very pleasant surprise!) Also I finally remembered to subscribe and have now binge watched allllll your videos!!! 🎉❤ keep it up, Evelyn!
Hej, I will be staying a couple days in Beijing which area would you recommend to just have a calm stay and visit restaurant and cafes like you show?:) greetings from Copenhagen
So happy to see ur video again:) this one almost feels like you are taking us onto a private tour in Beijing, many good food spots ☺️☺️ Beijing is one of the places my bf want to visit the most after reading Three Body lol thank you ❤ take care in 2024 (try some warm honey tea if you are sick, I’ve been sick last week thanks to the cold German winter and the tea def helped 😂
That's basically the tour I wish someone would have taken me on when I want to avoid all the tourists in a new city haha...Beijing's such a special place...you should totally come visit:)
Lovely video and channel.I'll be visiting China for the first time next month.Your videos have been inspiring. Wish you would make them all in Chinese with English subtitles!(or at least a parallel video).
hope you have a lovely time in China! I have made a video in Chinese, once, and would love to make more in the future. The challenge is translating + subtitling takes way too much time...😭 Hope I'll be able to find/afford someone to help in the future, so I can make more of those!
I watch all your videos and I love them. and recently really being in love with the Chinese book philosophy and calmness, would you mind if you recommend me a Chinese book that doesn’t have much advanced words(I’m in intermediate level in Chinese)
So glad to hear you are interested in Chinese books!! tbh I haven’t read lots of Chinese books lately, and because I’m a native speaker of Chinese, I don’t really notice if a book is “advanced” or not:( a general rule of thumb when I read English books - I find YA books tend to be easier to read. hope this helps!
What is the quality of life like in bejing? There's another TH-cam creator she lives in bejing and speaks English.. you both have an American vibe and personality..
what?!! no way I'd give up on TH-cam...I have been taking lots of time to think about what to do with my life because there will be a lot of big changes this year...but I'm nothing if not persistent:)

hmmm I'm not sure how to answer that...people are very friendly in general, and the government is doing a big push to attract more foreign tourists. Personally I feel like if you haven't been to China it's one of those place that can be very different from what's portrayed in the media - in a good way!
Thank you for noticing🥺 I’ve just been thinking A LOT about life. With major life changes (e.g. I’m moving to Germany this year), we tend to want to look inwards, and that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s not been easy, but was well worth it!
Evelyn did you though about setting a patreon? Ko-fi is good, but patreon allows people who wish to support you on a longer time frame and will probably help with the steadiness of your income!
there's something magical about the snaps of life you share from across the world, the last quote about home got me.
I love TH-cam for letting people who cannot be further apart in this world relate to each other's lives. There's something so beautiful in common humanity

great vlog! The "feeling like a tourist in my hometown" is one of my favourite genres of vlog to watch because it's so relatable.
it's such an ineffable feeling...and yet so many of us share it. I love TH-cam for bringing us together in this way!
I have consistently anticipated the release of your videos and sincerely hope that you consider uploading on a weekly basis. :(
Thank you🫶it’s always been my goal to upload once a week, and I have consistently failed at it for the past 4 years. I realized there must be something wrong with my approach.
