This night is a testament to Cena's ability to work a crowd. A lesser performer would've just left it alone when the shirt was thrown back. Not Cena. He thought "this is the easiest heat I'll ever get" and then KEPT throwing it back!

@@Kugrox I'm gonna call bs. Cena was the face of WWE, but this was an ECW show prior to WWECW becoming a weekly show. This is not WWE tv. This was a true ECW crowd, giving Cena heat bc the face of that match is RVD. He's the face of ECW (aside from Tommy Dreamer or Tazz). In this situation John Cena got his only real dose of heat until the mid 2010s when we all got tired of seeing him fight Randy Orton 3 times a month.

RVD was a main eventer who should’ve held many more world titles than he actually did. One of those guys who was over with the fans from day 1, and carried a lot of heat with certain talent because of his zero effort connection with the fans. Real recognizes real, and the fans always loved RVD, no matter what company he was with. Him going over on the first Monday night TNA was the right call. But he should’ve been more long term than Jeff, because he was much more dependable. Vince also left a lot of money on the table by canning him over weed. He and Cena had a natural chemistry, and probably could’ve gotten 2 years out of their feud, with Edge in the mix.

@@christhecommentator3411 RVD was smoking, yes. But nowadays in most states there's no penalties for that, just like how in all states you can smoke cigarettes and drive without penalty. But not only does Matt Riddle smoke pot, he endorsed it on his merchandise. Riddle aside, the Usos are main eventers, just like how Nia Jax was headlining the women's division before the cutbacks. And yet a dangerous employee to her fellow workers was fine to keep. Just like it's still fine to keep Jimmy Uso despite his numerous DUIs and other disturbances, etc. But I guess you can only get away with that kind of stuff if you're in the right family. Despite all the boring promos and crappy matches. Meanwhile Rob has never had a bad match in his life, gave everything he had every time he wrestled, and got pulled over once without making a scene or resisting arrest.
Come to think of it, didn't Flair get away with making sexual advances on a defenseless flight attendant and no penalties to him or his career take place? Strange how Van Dam got the biggest push of his life derailed for the tiniest "offense" and Flair is still regarded as a legend. I wonder how Heidi Doyle feels about this scenario?...
