    For sure this pilot is top of the class -- incredibly smooth and always in control. There were some moves I've not seen in an F/A-18 before.

    😵😵 As a demo pilot myself the guy behind the stick in this F-18 demo is clearly very experienced! Believe me when I say not all F-18 demos are this awesome, of course you’ll get the loops, screws, stalls, etc. with any fighter demo but that is literally the 2nd time in my life I’ve seen an F-18 go full vertical on takeoff straight into a full loop! The 1st was The USN Blue Angels! Damn! This pilot threw that Hornet around like he was whipping an F-22 or an F-35 with advanced avionics & thrust vectoring! WOW! Those folks got a treat there live with that pilot & that demo!!

      @flo9575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@randallwatson7881 This is semi-correct sir. Swiss army is militia (except some special branches), but Swiss airforce has decomissioned last militia squadrons by 2017 (They flew the F5 at that time). Also the DeHavilland Venom, Vampires and the Hawker Hunter where operated by militia pilots (sometimes farmers or also the average office guy) and they performed well. Howsoever I'm pretty shure the Mirage III (as part of surveilance squadron (the socalled ÜG) was first jet only operated by professional pilots and in my moderate knowledge the F/A 18 was and is only operated by professionals.
      At least this guy, Cpt.Rossier is ptofessional military pilot, that I could confirm on airforce website!
      But I got your point.... its funny idea to think about a mach 1,7 postman ;P
      But about militia system in switzerland:
      - Any country in the world a guy with a assault rifle without any kind of uniform enters a punlic train, people start yelling " Attention, a terrorist!"
      - In Switzerland a random dude with assaul rifle, no uniform anters a train, everybody says: " Oh look that unfortunate guy has report for duty!"

    That was likely the best show & filming I've ever seen. Obviously had limited air space with no bad seat in the valley. It was like ballet. The moves were graceful and, to me, unique. Likely not but it must have been the location of the camera. Great perspective, like the Mach loop or Rainbow canyon but like an outdoor amphitheater. Just awsome, awsome!

    I have watched your amazing video of F/A-18 Hornet performing in last year's Sion Airshow for countless times and I guess this is the same pilot who flew in 2019 and the reason is that I have never seen any other Hornet display in which pilot could demonstrate such incredible maneuvers regarding the fact that this aircraft doesn't have any TVC (Thrust Vectoring Control) system. However, the super skilled pilot flies it as if it has. By the way, the camera is just as fantastic as the display itself. Thank you so much.

    It's funny. The Hornet has been my favourite fighter my entire life, possibly favourite aircraft in general. I spent years scouring over videos, images, going to airshows, playing the simulators. I thought I had it ALL figured out in regards to it's capabilities. I would then look at the SU-27's, the Viper's and the Raptor's and think "man, I wish the ol' '18 had it in her". Then a few weeks back I heard CW Lemoine's commentary on a DCS fight and as to why he (a former hornet and viper pilot) won't play it publicly incase he were to accidentally let slip "classified manoeuvres" as the Hornet is active military hardware. That comment had me intrigued, but now I am truly amazed. What else is this thing hiding!?

The Super Hornet is quite a bit bigger than the earlier version, longer fuselage, bigger wing, & rectangular engine inlets with more powerful engines, as opposed to the oval inlets on this legacy Hornet. All in order to carry more ordnance. Truly a remarkable aircraft that has proven itself in many encounters in combat!!!!!

    From what I know Switzerland asked for a re-inforced airframe before purchasing the Hornet models... adding electronic and software equipment on their own - so this is pretty much a 'step in-between' the regular Hornet and the Super Hornet.
    Bad news for display lovers - the swiss airforce is cutting down appearances at foreign airshows in the near future, until a replacement for the older F-5 has been chosen... might even be the real Super Hornet, or french Rafale.

      The swiss re-inforced the airfraime with 800 structural parts in titanium.
      The swiss installed their own software.
      The swiss push, as you can see, the hornet three times harder as usual.
      This is a regular swiss pilot. All of them are able to flight the hornet like him.

      The base of the valley is about 500 m above sea level. The mountain tops in the background are between 2500 m and 3500 m above sea level.
