My daughters used to spend HOURS playing this on my Saturn back in the day. The only complaint i have about this TAS is that the maps got completed so fast I couldn't properly enjoy the amazing music all over again!
I don't think that's a bad thing. You "choose" your opponents by unlocking them, and then picking one of their kind. Because of that, progression becomes a double-edged sword. In a 50 or so hour game that would be terrible, but in a game like Sonic R where it's so short to where the save system is borderline useless, it's very compelling.
@@PuffyBuffy25 I think what the OP meant was look at CTR (PS1), Adventure mode has the preset racers and you can unlock the bosses through Gem races, but Adventure Mode racers stay the preset ones. If we wanted to race against the unlockables then that is what VS/Free Play is for. Edit: Nonetheless, I still liked your comment because you do have a point and it was detailed too.
Tha super sonic completion shown here was the fastest ever recorded until I got around doing the any% and found another faster character for radiant emerald but I decided not to improve this TAS to not lose even more character variety
I always thought Metal Knuckles should have been unlockable in Regal Ruin. The stage feels more Knuckles than Reactive Factory which in turn feels like an Eggman stage that should be where you unlock Egg Robo
you and me both, but let's face it, regal ruins seems to be built by eggman in part, why else would there be ring barriers and eggman and sonic faces painted at walls?
Great memories, even if it wasn't run on the classic Saturn version! Thanks for this! Any reason you did it on the GC version and not the original Saturn version?
@gabrielstrong7322 Random statement with no basis or facts to back it up? So we can have long videos like the DDR getting max score, but we can't get a 100% of simply getting all the bonus content in this?
Someone ought'a show this to Jon Burton and have him try and explain how the player is able to get out of bounds so easily. And him, being the good guy he is? I bet he could and _would,_ too. (: Cheers for the wonderful TAS of a very fun game, KusogeMan!
Brilliant TAS! You've inspired me to 100% manually it in 2 weeks! Thanks, TASVideosChannel.
Can you feel the sunshine
Does it brighten up your day?

Yes, Sonic R is a weird game. Yes, it is hard and annoying to learn but...
Holy crap the music is so good
The sad thing is that most of the original playable characters get replaced by the new ones for the races, you can't choose your opponents.
I think the sadder thing is that this is the only racing game where Sonic is using his feet, like he is known for.

@@tuxedothemagnificent6738I think that would be nice too. I'd love to be able to race against Super Sonic as Amy without mods.

I have to admit, I came here for the music XD

im the maker of this tas i hope you enjoy, soon you will have any% here in tasvideos and in my channel it's already there
One question. Is there none of that Tails Doll bs creepypasta?

@@exidy-yt the best version is PC but that is harder to emulate the second best is Gamecube
@@KusogeMan thank you!
Never played this before or seen any gameplay of it, but that last race's soundtrack was fire!
That's not actually the theme for Radiant Emerald. Instead, it's the theme of Sonic R itself, which only plays because Super Sonic was chosen.
I'd guess the actual Radiant Emerald theme is probably the least known song on the whole soundtrack for that very reason
Yes, the robot occupation of the Sonic universe was stopped by Super Sonic!!! Nice
Still waiting for a 100% TAS of Sonic Gems Collection.
That's never happening ever

You Got Chaos Emerald(s)
Wall Glide, Knux, RNG Manipples Enchilada, Super Sanic Racing. Win.
Most underrated Sonic game imo
Its a terrible game that gave me great joy in my childhood days
Whoa! There was Sonic R on GameCube? I'm surprised
You had to get Sonic Gems Collection.
Incidentally, that was also the best way to play Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters for a few years.
We need a sequel!
And you're telling me that all the maps has a *MKWii ultra shortcut looking skip*
it makes me wonder if there's actually an inbound category
yes there is but im not pacient enough for that it took me almost a year to get this done
@@KusogeMandid the one who made the TAS talk to me!? Keep it up 😉
It's "Keep your feet right on the ground." not "Keep your feet right inbounds.".

It's unironically one of my favorite games ever.
👇 People who came here for the music (Not me)
The only thing Sonic R has going for is that it’s technically impossible to recreate this game on the PS1.
Music's pretty good too
The soundtrack and aesthetic are top tier. Probably the second or third best Sonic racing game, depending on if you count Sega Allstars.
