There was an old one with sam that I think was at a convention, but Mike is wrong a lot so they may have a good time on a new one. Ok sorry Mike, I’m just joking
my groups LOVES it too. the design is awesome. the box design is awesome. it MOVES. you dont have to constantly read new cards midgame so its complexity actually creeps down as you make decisions. we love it. atomic action selection combo lovers, take note! and highly thematic use of fantasy theme imho.
Res Arcana is my current favorite game. 100% agree with Zee. I think Mike has just not given it enough of a chance to see it's depth. There aren't broken combos. There are 2 strategies in the base and first expansion (Philosopher's Stone or an Infernal Engine combo)that could be seen as OP, but both of these strategies can be beaten if you know what you're doing. Like Race, it really is a game that rewards repeated plays. It's clear this game was thoroughly playtested.
So happy to see Final Girl so high on Mike's list. I bought the game based on his recommendation and quickly bought up all the add-ons, played dozens of games since.
29:00 I liked how Tom was willing to give Zee a little room to talk on Res Arcana, up until the point where he likened it to Dune Imperium. You could literally see it on his face in that moment.
both have amazing combo potential, and a tense need to get stuff before others. I wouldnt have thought of comparison. and yet these are pretty much my groups favorite 2 games...huh. might be on to something!
This felt more like a 10-1 for me. My absolute favorites getting mentioned here: -Dune Imperium -Unmatched -Res Arcana -Blue Moon -Gloomhaven -The Crew -Viticulture -Blood Rage -7 Wonders Duel
Omg Zee actually threw that ball and hit the camera at the very end! We also got to hear how much Tom values Zee’s life. If you didn’t watch all the way to the end, it’s worth less than a camera.
We are approaching the end of this wonderful top 100. I’m dishing out points for the hosts and people, picking out the one game per entry I like the most. My rules, deal with it. Mike: 3 points (25 total), 20, 17, 15, Comic Hunters, Everdell, Monumental Zee: 4 points (25 total), 19, 18, 16, 12, Unmatched, Res Arcana, Targi, Deus Tom: 2 points (18 total), 14, 11, Marvel United, Le Havre People: 1 point (24 total), 13, Dominion 13, the spot Dominion won preventing Dune Imperium from becoming a 3 time winner 3, games have won 3 times Wingspan, Near & Far, and now Marvel United; Sleeping Gods, the only game to win 4 times so far Mike: 2 potential points pillaged (6 total), 19 Final Girl (Unmatched won), 13 Dune Imperium (Dominion won) Zee: 0 potential points pillaged (4 total) Tom: 2 potential points pillaged (8 total), 20 Beyond the Sun (Comic Hunters won), 13 Dune Imperium (Dominion won) People: 0 potential points pillaged (4 total) Mike 25, Zee 25, People 24, it’s anyone’s race except Tom; but some hidden info will be revealed in the final episode… ✌️
Finally played RA, it's decent but I wasn't bowled over by it. Certainly I don't get the "best auction game ever" craze. Passing that bag around is so cumbersome.
Played Comic Hunters on DT Cruise and it was “ok” imo. Think it may have gotten too hyped up for me. If it comes to US, it would probably not look as good since they will likely not be able to use the actual Marvel comic book covers or it would have a different theme.
Tried Last Bastion after playing Ghost Stories, and it was so generic I just couldn't deal with it. I'd sooner work on some house ruling to blend its rule set with Ghost Stories artwork (yet to try in practice, but looking forward to revisiting).
I purchased Rising 5 only to find the app is only available in Polish. I can still play the game, but the language barrier is an issue. I'm avoiding app supported games in the future to avoid this problem.
Smoke bombs …. and levitating pieces would be Bryan’s realm. Always hoped for magic in all of his reviews. I remember the time he snuck in the cards out of the mouth during one of the countdowns. 😮
@zee what do you think of the Jamaica: Crew expansion? seems pretty cool, but Ive played base many times and only read the rules for crew. but seems it would add nice spice without overcomplicating, and i might never go back. thoughts? always/never/sometimes type of expansion to you?
Viticulture is very high on my list and I haven’t even played the Tuscany board. Two seasons is already fantastic! And yes I have Tuscany and ALL other expansions in the bast box. It’s tight but the folded space insert fits it all nicely.
It seems that I cant introduce most games over BGG weight of 2. The only exception is Marvel Legendary at 2.4 has someone been easy to introduce. Others above 2 that I usually get people tuning out of the rules before I finish: 7 Wonders, Clank, Pandemic, Horrified, Forbidden Desert. These are with people that almost always say "I dont want to think when I play a game". They also get mental fatigue 1hr in and that ruins the game, for me. Having said that, I think breaking games into weight < 2, 2-3, and 3+ would be VERY useful. 14 yr old, who like a 1-3 hr game. 3+ are people who dont mind a 1-3 hr rule reading followed by a 2-12 hr game. Hard core gamers.
I’m totally with Zee on Res Arcana. It’s an absolute banger and easily my favorite Tom Lehmann design. Love ya Mike but you’re all wet on this one. “So mediocre.” Ha! Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.
I’ve never played Deus but from Zee’s description, it sounds like Wingspan. I really like Elysium though and it’s my top 100 and I’d wish they had an expansion.
I think you're onto something, Zee. Looking forward to Blue Moon Flippy. 😂 In the meantime, here are my ranks of these games: - Evergreen (too recent to rank) - Beyond the Sun (3) - Pandemic (96) - Concordia (40) - Viticulture Essential Edition (87) - Everdell (265) - A Feast for Odin (121) - 7 Wonders Duel (200) - Paladins of the West Kingdom (23) - Jamaica (too old to rank) - Ticket to Ride (170) - Dune Imperium (124) - Dominion (7) Thanks for the video!
Bang: The Dice Game is not a bad game. It's a fun party-style game if you're willing to get into the roles. It's definitely not a Top 50 type game though lol
I'd really like to try Final Girl as somebody who enjoyed Hostage Negotiator but eventually moved on to the next shiny thing. I'm guessing this isn't gonna be in their convention library, huh?
Viticulture really isn't that good without the expansion. It's a pretty standard wp that borrows the wake up mechanism from fresco. Tuscany really does elevate the game.
@@grog3514 I sold my Tuscany as I think it is better without it. What makes it unique among wp games is how tight the game is due to being a race, so you have to be very precise in using the cards you get and the wake up track bonuses you choose (in this way, it elevates Fresco, not imitates it). I also greatly enjoy that it makes you go through many steps to score a point, rather than give you a point for everything.
I remember when the KS for Marvel United first released. Me and my group were all making jokes about how ridiculous looking the chibis minis are and now it's one of our favorite.
me too. and i dont LOVE the style and glad i abstained. but im an xmen guy and went all in in wave 2 and its light and breezy yet not easy, and nostalgic for comics ive read...yeah, it works for me too
Okay. I had been watching these on 2x speed to get through them. But i wanted to catch something they said about viticulture so swapped to 0.75x and them 0.5x. Hilarious! Drunk Dice Tower for the win!
Res Arcana is fine, but I don't think it's very interesting to play. I agree with Mike, but then I feel the same about Everdell, which he gushed over a minute after the Res Arcana entry
For me, Comic Hunters is the epitome of over-hyped. I doubt certain people would be raving so much about it if it was more really available. Of course, I might be way off and this game really is that good, but somehow I doubt it.
I'm gonna be real - I have 3 boxes of Unmatched - I like Unmatched nice enough. But Exceed and BattleCON blow it out of the water. Exceed isn't even THAT much harder to learn than Unmatched - just got a few keywords to drill into the mind. But the extra depth is worth drilling through for a game that is super strong. I appreciate the characters and minis from Unmatched, and Unmatched is a really really nice product - great art - great value for money. But the actual GAMEPLAY? Nowhere near Level 99's dueling games. Please try them
Lots of love for Dune Imperium. However, something they mentioned on Smorgasbord this morning keeps me wanting to play it - IP's & books with movie tie-in covers. I hate that they decided to use the movie images for the characters. I hate it so much I can't bring myself to try the game! I know it's silly, but man it just really bothers me.
They aren’t movie stills though (which usually looks horrendous). They have just used the likeness of the movie characters for the basis of the art and it looks really good.
I wish all the success in the world to Unmatched, but there's something broken in my brain that, after waiting forever for them to expand or update Epic Duels, and a few years ago teasing us that they would actually bring it back, my brain is kind of stuck on my existing copy of Epic Duels.
I thought Le Havre was pretty good but it was so long… maybe it’s dumb I sold it but I just felt the game was too long for what it offers. I’m trying Hallertau now…
You guys shouldn't be apologetic about picks that are hard to find. It's not 'Top 100 games you recommend people to check out', it's your top 100 games of all times. Some of them are bound to be harder to find. And if game publishers hear you ravings and think about making those games more available, that's also important. The only 'apology-adjacent' thing that is warranted, IMO, is for those games that had a single small kickstarter release and are considered great games by the people who have played them. Because those games were never 'Released' de-facto. For those specific games, who are either extremly costly to begin with, or just had a very limited number of prints - Then it's like you would say 'Hey, I playtested an amazing game but the company never actually released it'. And it's less of an apology - it's more like an 'indictment' to the company who created a 'tree falling in the forest with a great spund that no one really heard'. Games that have become OOO now, or games from overseas that weren't picked up (yet?) are not in this category. It's just your pick for this number. The fact it's not available is informative, no need to be apologetic.
It's a real shame you cant get your hands on the expansions for Rising 5. As far as I know you have to have the super rare collectors edition which is dumb
Laurentia: a Cascadia game. Dixon: a Cascadia game. Arctic, Boreal..... No reason they couldn't be combineable, ie, where bioregions abut. How about Yellowstone: a Cascadia Game!
But Tom said that his favorite Vikings game was whatever some lists ago! Isn't A Feast For Odin a Vikings game? Shame!! Also great work, so enjoying to watch
You should do a Top 10 disagreements video, where you talk about each other's favorites you dislike the most
There are videos for "Top 10 Games Tom is Wrong About" and for Zee.
There was an old one with sam that I think was at a convention, but Mike is wrong a lot so they may have a good time on a new one. Ok sorry Mike, I’m just joking
There were a live about this long time ago.
They did, and then they did response videos, and then response videos to that, and it was all hilarious. Go watch for sure 👍
foster the meeple has a biggest differences video and its hilarious and mildly uncomfortable in a familiar way
I agree with Zee on Res Arcana. It's one of our favorite games.
How many of you are their?
my groups LOVES it too. the design is awesome. the box design is awesome. it MOVES. you dont have to constantly read new cards midgame so its complexity actually creeps down as you make decisions. we love it. atomic action selection combo lovers, take note! and highly thematic use of fantasy theme imho.
Found Zee’s burner acct
Watch the very end of the video for a hilarious extra!
I remember that crowdfunding episode!
I simply love the Zee Garcia song😀
Me too!!!
I will absolutely just burst into singing it randomly as I'm walking around the house. "Zee...GARCIIIIA" 🎶🎵
Yeah but Mike got done dirty. His is terrible.
Res Arcana is my current favorite game. 100% agree with Zee. I think Mike has just not given it enough of a chance to see it's depth. There aren't broken combos. Zee said, Wingspan is “sashaying it’s way up to Carcassone” 😂😂😂😂 oh man. Zee has some good little quips
So happy to see Final Girl so high on Mike's list. I bought the game based on his recommendation and quickly bought up all the add-ons, played dozens of games since.
Finally, Concordia is getting some love from the Dice Tower gang
29:00 I liked how Tom was willing to give Zee a little room to talk on Res Arcana, up until the point where he likened it to Dune Imperium. You could literally see it on his face in that moment.
Zee's right tho
both have amazing combo potential, and a tense need to get stuff before others. I wouldnt have thought of comparison. and yet these are pretty much my groups favorite 2 games...huh. might be on to something!
Thanks for the always entertaining top 100 list! Unmatched: Star Trek The Next Generation would be awesome, fingers crossed haha
I didn’t even think of it! Like TNG crew + TOS vs. Borg + Klingons????!!!???!??!?!?!??
Yesssss FINAL GIRL. IT IS A FANTASTIC GAME. Nice job, Mike.
This felt more like a 10-1 for me. My absolute favorites getting mentioned here:
-Dune Imperium
-Unmatched
-Res Arcana
-Blue Moon
-Gloomhaven
-The Crew
-Viticulture
-Blood Rage
-7 Wonders Duel
Lol loved the ending with the camera on the floor
Omg Zee actually threw that ball and hit the camera at the very end! We also got to hear how much Tom values Zee’s life. If you didn’t watch all the way to the end, it’s worth less than a camera.
Love evergreen! Played multiple games with my wife and my 11-year-old daughter and we all are huge fans of it.
I will also gladly pay Zee for getting Targi. I LOVE that game and have you, Zee, to thank.
1:02:40 LOL "Cascados", at least in Spain, has several meaning, one of which is "smashed/broken", in plural
We are approaching the end of this wonderful top 100. I’m dishing out points for the hosts and people, picking out the one game per entry I like the most. My rules, deal with it.
Mike: 3 points (25 total), 20, 17, 15, Comic Hunters, Everdell, Monumental
Zee: 4 points (25 total), 19, 18, 16, 12, Unmatched, Res Arcana, Targi, Deus
Tom: 2 points (18 total), 14, 11, Marvel United, Le Havre
People: 1 point (24 total), 13, Dominion
13, the spot Dominion won preventing Dune Imperium from becoming a 3 time winner
3, games have won 3 times Wingspan, Near & Far, and now Marvel United; Sleeping Gods, the only game to win 4 times so far
Mike: 2 potential points pillaged (6 total), 19 Final Girl (Unmatched won), 13 Dune Imperium (Dominion won)
Zee: 0 potential points pillaged (4 total)
Tom: 2 potential points pillaged (8 total), 20 Beyond the Sun (Comic Hunters won), 13 Dune Imperium (Dominion won)
People: 0 potential points pillaged (4 total)
Mike 25, Zee 25, People 24, it’s anyone’s race except Tom; but some hidden info will be revealed in the final episode…
✌️
Tom taught me RA on his last visit to Toronto. Really need to play this again.
A quote for the box on the next print run of Le Havre "Is that a dog or an erase mark?" -Zee Garcia
Finally played RA, it's decent but I wasn't bowled over by it. Certainly I don't get the "best auction game ever" craze. Passing that bag around is so cumbersome.
I did the same as Zee and tossed the three season board from Viticulture as it will never be used.
Played Comic Hunters on DT Cruise and it was “ok” imo. Think it may have gotten too hyped up for me. If it comes to US, it would probably not look as good since they will likely not be able to use the actual Marvel comic book covers or it would have a different theme.

Tom and Mike both had Dune Imperium in the same place last year too.
Mike and Tom could not be more wrong about Res Arcana. Zee is right on the money.
RftG and Res Arcana are two of the most packed card games for the time invested and all time faves. all hail Tom Lehmann!
I like the new Kemet map, have never understood all the hate for it.
Played Blue Moon City for the first time yesterday. LOVE IT!
Zee right on the money. Deus is absolutely amazing.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s list. Top 10 games of all time! This year….😂

"Christopher Nolan movie?" Zee is hilarious. 😂
I just realized that the negative space in the Blue Moon logo looks like a cute guy waving and now I cannot unsee it.
Monumental! Play with the updated “continuous play” mode.
Just played LeHavre. It’s quite amazing really how good it still is.
Zee Garcia is ABSOLUTELY right on Res Arcana. Easily one of the best games lol. And better than Race for the galaxy too. Sorry Tom :)
Viticulture is very high on my list and I haven’t even played the Tuscany board. Two seasons is already fantastic! And yes I have Tuscany and ALL other expansions in the bast box. It’s tight but the folded space insert fits it all nicely.

srsly. i sent him a tweet i was so disappinted in mike lol. I usually think he has great taste and my faith was shattered lol
Res Arcana is a tightly focused game…. Zee is absolutely right
I’ve never played Deus but from Zee’s description, it sounds like Wingspan. I really like Elysium though and it’s my top 100 and I’d wish they had an expansion.
1:20:15 what is it compared to?!
I think you're onto something, Zee. Looking forward to Blue Moon Flippy. 😂

Thanks for the video!
Bang: The Dice Game is not a bad game. It's a fun party-style game if you're willing to get into the roles. It's definitely not a Top 50 type game though lol
Cosmic Encounter with the new expansion made it better than La Havre for Tom. We will see it tomorrow
res arcana has been my #1 for a couple of years now. most fun per complexity/time out there!
I'd really like to try Final Girl as somebody who enjoyed Hostage Negotiator but eventually moved on to the next shiny thing. I'm guessing this isn't gonna be in their convention library, huh?
I think Viticulture is just ok. I need to try it with the expansion

PLAY CONCORDIA, MIKE. No excuses, no nonsense. 😁
😊 this is nice
Res Arcana reminds me of MtG, and, in a way, blows it out of the water: it's just as rich, but is massively cheaper. The draft is a must have.
I was very interested in Res Arcana and hearing this is solidifying it’s way into my next purchase. Maybe the Easter bunny will bring it 🐣🐇
Scripted or not, those last 10 seconds were hilarious 😂.
I remember when the KS for Marvel United first released. Me and my group were all making jokes about how ridiculous looking the chibis minis are and now it's one of our favorite.

How high are you Tom?
‘Higher than this table.’
Okay. I had been watching these on 2x speed to get through them. But i wanted to catch something they said about viticulture so swapped to 0.75x and them 0.5x. Hilarious! Drunk Dice Tower for the win!
A board game about collecting board games. That way you can get the Rare ones that Mike likes.
😂😂😂😂
The first version of Ra was by alea/Rio Grande
3/40: Jamaica, Marvel United, Le Havre 🦘
Res Arcana is fine, but I don't think it's very interesting to play. I agree with Mike, but then I feel the same about Everdell, which he gushed over a minute after the Res Arcana entry
DEUS new printing has nicer board printing. Difference is that the old version has tight lines when the new printing has more “natural” lines
For me, Comic Hunters is the epitome of over-hyped. I doubt certain people would be raving so much about it if it was more really available.
Of course, I might be way off and this game really is that good, but somehow I doubt it.

Mike is sooooooo wrong on Res Arcana.
Noooo Tom! I just gave you a high five at Pax Unplugged for Le Havre and you dropped it out of your top 10!
Funny i love Blood Rage but hate it’s name - it puts off so many people who assume it’s an immature teenager’s game
Kemet is BEST dudes on a map game...FIGHT ME!
I love my big o everdell box :)
Lots of love for Dune Imperium. However, something they mentioned on Smorgasbord this morning keeps me wanting to play it - IP's & books with movie tie-in covers. Yeah it's all original art. I think it's quite good.
I wish all the success in the world to Unmatched, but there's something broken in my brain that, after waiting forever for them to expand or update Epic Duels, and a few years ago teasing us that they would actually bring it back, my brain is kind of stuck on my existing copy of Epic Duels.
Anyone can explain what was that about Sweden and Slovakia? I didn't understand it.
When people are watching with the live chat and they donate, Tom calls out their country
@@annecooswiersema3511 Ah, forgot about the chat. Thanks.
Around the 19s, I thought Tom and Zee were going to have a crossover for croquette.
Blue Moon Flippy! 🤣
Unsettled is amazing best co-op game every
Tom obviously doesn’t want folks buying comic hunters instead of his upcoming DT stamped essential version.
Should I play the app of Gloomhaven b4 I play the board game? Also, Everdell meeple stickers are essential.
Zee's #1 will be Caper Europe
I will gladly help Mike AND the Dice Tower with the stickering. I found that therapeutic.
3 times Mike has had a direct crossover with the People 53, 32, 12 whut?!?
I thought Le Havre was pretty good but it was so long… maybe it’s dumb I sold it but I just felt the game was too long for what it offers. I’m trying Hallertau now…

These videos are amazing! did I miss how to enter to win the box of games?
Will they be a printable list of all 4 of the countdowns. I lost track of the games I want to try.
It's a real shame you cant get your hands on the expansions for Rising 5. As far as I know you have to have the super rare collectors edition which is dumb
Zee is no more voice of the people, Mike is new owner !!!
Spirit island #1 :D
Annoyingly I can't get the Rising 5 App to work any more..

Where's Agricola? =)
1:22:12 well Mike's not hitting anything with a rock, let's be honest
Mike's taste is so weird. Rags on Res Arcana for being "just fine" but Monumental is his #15 game of all time. Ok bro.
Final Girl #1
