  • How difficult is the Rimrocker Trail in Colorado? We answer your questions: Can a stock 4x4 make it? In this Rimrocker Trail review we talk about camping along the trail, where to get up to date information on trail conditions, how long does it take to do the Rimrocker Trail, and much more.
    Most people travel the Rimrocker Trail from Montrose to Moab. In typical Wanderlost fashion, we do the Rimrocker from Moab to Montrose. But all the information we give in the video will work for both directions.

    Here are more frequently asked questions about the Rimrocker Trail, and our answers.
    Can a Subaru make it down the Rimrocker Trail? Yes, during the drier months of the year. However, like we talk about in the video, you will need proper tires.
    What time of the year can we drive the trail? We've only traveled it during the summer months so we can't speak accurately about trail conditions during spring and fall. We do know that the difficulty rating does go up when there's snow in the higher elevations and when there's been a considerable amount of rainfall. The trail can get very soft and muddy at these times.
    Where can I get a map for the Rimrocker Trail? The easiest way is to go to www.rimrockertrail.org and download the gpx files to a mapping app on your device. We highly recommend Gaia. There are also paper maps available. Check where you can get one on the website.
    How well marked is the Rimrocker Trail? The trail is extremely well marked. there is a sign post with a directional arrow at virtually every intersection.
    Can a full size truck do the Rimrocker Trail? Yes, but do expect to get some pin stripping on the narrow sections of the trail.
    Is there a place along the Rimrocker Trail where we can get gas, ice, groceries, or a motel room? Yup, about halfway through the trail you'll go through a small town called Nucla. There, and the neighboring town of Naturita, will have what you need.

    Me and a buddy did the Rimrocker in 2020. Great trail. We hardly saw any other vehicles on the trail, except near Moab where a group of local Jeep folks who were driving West to East had parked smack in the middle of the trail and were having lunch. They asked if they could finish their lunch before moving, so we waited around for 15-20 minutes until they had packed up and moved their vehicles. Toyota folks would never be so inconsiderate! 🤣

      ha! That was REALLY nice of you! I’m going on the trail in May 2023 and I’m concerned about the trees & brush scratching our trucks. The trail looks very narrow especially on the UT side. We’ll have a Raptor and a modified F-150, is the trail wide enough? The area of concern is between coordinates: 38.35811, -109.31901 and 38.40989, -108.93364. Thank you!

      @@AmericanMuscleTruck you will undoubtedly get pinstripes on some sections of the trail (closer to Moab). The trail is barely wide enough for one car, and it's full of open grazing cows. You could probably skip that section by bailing out early and staying on the highway.

    I am taking my wife on her first overlanding trip. She loves the desert and want so see more of that than mountains. I need to keep it to green or beginner trails for he as she is not as adventurous and I am. Can you suggest anything from Vegas to Moab. We need to end up in Denver or back a Vegas. I thought the rim rocker would be perfect but it doesn’t look like enough desert or canyon scenery for her. Any help is appreciated.

    Would this be ok in van with AWD and all terrain tires? Sprinter 144. Basically the same size as a RAM 2500 crew cab short bed.

      @WanderlostOverland  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Short answer yes. There is a section along the CO and UT border that's very brushy, so expect some pinstriping. Have fun!

    Would you do this trailer with an off-road trailer? Something alike a NOBO Offroad 7ft wide x 13ft long? with clearance and Offroad tires? Using a lifted wrangler.
