After collapse of Soviet Union there was a severe food shortage throughout the regional countries including mine, what actually saved us was our village house where we would grow fruits and vegetables and preserve them for winter and spring .

We did the same thing. A small holding with fertile soil and my knowledge of subsidiary farming has been the biggest saving grace to my family's total expenses...especially since my mom and dad lost their jobs during the Pandemic

No such thing as total food security. Even for us here in Borneo where households that rear their own chicken is very common.
You’re still at the mercy of fuel prices, feed and fertilizer cost. At most you can supplement. Just because you have a farm doesn’t mean you can stop going to groceries stores.

So, I live in a rural part of Florida. The number 1 business in the county is still agriculture. I have a friend who has a cattle ranch; he tells me that they did not get as much per cow these last 2 years as before. I have another friend who has some citrus groves; he tells me the price he got for his citrus is also down. As luck would have it, I also know a dairyman who got less then before.. I have a fried who stops her office job to go pick fruit every year for the extra cash. They are not being paid any more then before either. So.. yes the are are higher prices in the grocery..to bad they are not being passed down to the people who produce.

Exactly! The whole world is feeling the side effects of zero or low interest rates. You can't create something out of nothing. The fed just keep on lending and printing. When a lot of easy money is available the market keeps getting more valuable for no reason. Wall Street and other markets are doing huge profits by simply passing of the debt or investment without trying to balance of the inflation. People in this planets has been cheated by banks and government alliances. Natural resources must be valuated more so that the world gets more stable. These economic tricks can't go on for ever. It's hurting all middle and low income people of the world. We need more honest credit rating institutions that tell it as it is so the country that is playing accountant tricks and passing it of as real business can be more isolated so they don't pass it of.

I remember watching a inside story video early this year and a particular economist said that the best place to watch to predict inflation is not govt policies but the supply chain thing...
Tho many say it's temporary. But how long is temporary?

Maybe if the world's wealthy had less and the rest of us had more, things in general wouldn't be so bad.

It's the hoarding and bailouts that is the main issue. If they took real risks in a free market it would be survival of the fittest. But in reality special instrest groups and big corporate is basically turning the world in to metal gear solid.

There`s not so much a shortage of containers, rather, a shortage of shipping container companies willing to send ships around the world picking up the empty containers :)

What she mentions is just part of a problem, let us not forget corporate greed, after all when you buy food from a re-seller, most of the time the re-seller (supermarket) makes about 70% of the profits as they bulk buy in huge amounts and then sell for a lot more than they bought it for
