    This Peace Prize has been politically motivated for years now, or at least in many instances. There are so many who should not have received this prize. I consider this prize on the same level as many music/movie awards, just an entertainment.
    Maybe it should be given posthumously, so it is on deeds done, and their next generation has to build upon as a legacy!

    The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes established by the will of Swedish industrialist, inventor and armaments (military weapons and equipment) manufacturer Alfred Nobel. The reason is because Alfred regret that his invention have increase human suffering.

    • @mohdridhuanmdkamal8582
      @mohdridhuanmdkamal8582 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Perhaps it is the inventor's curse... Alfred Nobel created dynamite as a mining tool designed to make mining easier. Didn't anticipate his creation to be used for war.
      Similarly he created the Foundation and prizes to further science and peace. Didnt expect it to be turned into a political soft-power weapon.

    There where so many Awards that where meant to Reward the Development of specific kind of Activity in society, good contribution of Science was the main agenda of the Nobel Award first, the Man was a rich Scientist, his efforts became well known in the region, the idea of the Peace Prize is still Contraversial, who is good and who is bad, but they rewarded some great figures like Martin Luther King and Mahathma Gandhi which their Greatness and Sincerity was a Wide Consensus.

    Has peace prize really worked to end enimity in the world? The international prize for peace particularly political leaders needs to be scrutinized with outcome of the leaders role in his particular country. That raises doubtful questions over the committee.

    A lot of people hates censorship, stifling free speech from oppressive govts & yet they're also the same people who does that by blocking users in their FB pages, & the likes. And they simply claim "trolls" which is the same claim as the oppressive govts claiming some people as "subversives". Troll is merely the online term counterpart from the traditional term subversive.
    In many cases, they simply can't win logical debates, so they label them as "trolls" aka subversives & then block them.

    We don't care whatever criteria that the novel peace prize have that they awarded that prize to Philippine Journalist & CEO Ms. Maria Ressa of Rappler! For it was not the Filipino standard because that award giving body of peace prize was a European standard!, not ours! But we still congratulate Ms. Maria Ressa as recipients of that award because she deserves that award according to European standard & criteria of that award giving body! But still Ms. Maria Ressa was convicted by Philippine Court of Cyber Libel filed by a Pilipino Chinese Businessman based in Cebu City, after they publish (Rappler) that this Businessman was a drug lord, engaged in illegal activities etc,etc. Then this Businessman filed a case against them (Ms. Ressa & Rappler) in court of Cyber Libel and after a lengthy hearing of the case, and those accused was given a due process of law, and the verdict of the court was guilty beyond reasonable doubt! But what's the irony was Ms. Maria Ressa blamed Philippine President Duterte of violation of Human Rights, Rights of free Expression or speech, Rights of free press and media, etc,etc, but President Duterte was innocent and don't know or have no hand on that case! It is the Rappler to be blame because they became reckless and abuse the freedom of expression!as a media practitioner they should be responsible and follow the media code of ethics. As a results they became the big laughing stock of Philippine Public. But fortunately for Rappler they still continued their duties and functions as one of Media outlets here in the Philippines! Luckily also for Rappler because our country was a vibrant Democratic country in Asia. Maybe they are close now if they were in China, Russia or in North Korea. But here in the Philippines we have a freedom of the press, freedom of speech & assembly & other Democratic rights & sometimes we abused it, yes it's true, but rights is not absolute if you violates the rights of other people, there was a law that safeguard that!

    The Nobel Peace Prize needs to issue the prize 10-15 years after the peace-keeping action occurs. Not only will this help prevent warmongers from receiving the prize, but it also allows for time in order analyze the relevancy of a peace-keeping action. For example, Einstein received his prize in 1921 based of his work in 1905. If all the other Nobel prizes allow for time to pass, why shouldn’t the Peace prize?

    This is all for Dr.Aby Ahemed 😆. He is a hero. He deserves another bigger peace prizes for liberating Ethiopia from neocolonialism.

    Unlike fields of science discoveries or literature creations that other Nobel Prize awards, peace implies an uninterrupted and enduring period.
    We could recognize the significance of an scientific innovation and then ascribe it to one or several persons at a relatively short lapse (Despite many Nobel laureates receive medal dozens of years after their major contribution). But few would agree that Peace can be evaluated by this way.
    However the purport of Peace Prize is awarding "advance fellowship among nations, establishment and promotion of peace congresses". That normally refer to the truce of a war or improvement of well-beings. If peace only lasted 5 seconds, It can serve only for magazine reloading; if improvement of well-beings bulges only in a fiscal year, it is rather like an indulgence. Both two targets become appreciable, only if being proved thought its sustainability, consistence or effectivity after a noticeable long duration.
    So I would hardly understand that a Peace Prize awarded Arafat, when No PROVEN peace has been maintained long enough. 27 years after the celebration, Israel and Palestine are still locked by endless conflicts.
