    I’ve lived half my life in london and half in Celle. Initially the slower pace can drive a city boy a little nuts... but after a while you begin to appreciate the many benefits of this beautiful town, delightful forests and countryside and warm hearted people.
    Awesome seeing your perspective, which was a fair representation of a whistle stop tour.

      @@samuelandaudrey Afraid not - we were due to head back in 2020, but, well, you know. You likely cannot see the stamp of the Army now there but massive amounts of the city outskirts were used as barracks and the "Roundhouse" in the centre used to be the Naafi, cinema and shopping centre for families. Your pronunciation of “Sellay” though was brill ;-)

    Loved the video as per usual. I think you can make almost anything (which would otherwise be revolting to most) taste great with enough seasonings and especially in the case of Boeuf Tartare which my parents introduced to us when we were kids We all liked it.. We had it first at home a few times when my mother made it. She doctored it up with lots of capers, onions and spices and probably celery, relish and garlic; then ground it up and spread it on miniature rye bread slices. I also had it in a fancy restaurant once and it was made similarly (ground up with complementary ingredients and flavorings) and served with french bread on the side. Even though we all liked it I've only had it those few times.

    I’m original from celle, so I’m an cellenser. In my youth the downtown was very busy at all time. We had about 5 discotheques just in the middle of the town and a very high count of pubs. There where three British army barracks in town, so we always had some trouble in town. I had a lot of friends in Trenchard barracks through all regiments and played rugby with them.
    You can get the “Rohe Rolllade” in a couple of restaurants and pubs. Thears is just a visitor trap. There are others places, I prefer. Heidegeist, ratzeputz and the old provisor are all horrible. ;-) Did you tast Celler Bier?

    So you´ve been to my home town and TH-cam told me about that. Thank you @youtube. ;-)
    It´s kind of funny seeing you visiting this place and seemingly enjoy it. And I am really glad to see that you ended up at "Alter Provisor" since this truly is one oft the highlight shops in Celle. And yes, the Alter Provisor Schnaps is muuuuch better than Ratzeputz. But you found out about that for yourselfes. ;-)
    I work here as a photographer for the daily newspaper (Cellesche Zeitung) and visited all the shown places for more than one time, but your view at those places is quiet unique and I thank you for having people part in your voyages.
    So, go on with that fine work and enjoy the rest of Germany.
    Just a small hint for you: Marburg an der Lahn is my favourite town in our country and I bet you would love it. Let me know if you get there, too. ;-)

    Celle is a beautiful town with long connections with Britain, dating back to the early 18th century and the Elector of Hannover being crowned George 1. Later, following the World War 2, it became a major British garrison. I spent 3 years in Taunton Barracks (aka Heidekaserne), which was just a short walk across the French Gardens from the town centre. Coffee and cake sitting in Cafe Kiess, overlooking the main marketplace, was a regular occurrence. The barracks was subsequently handed back to the German authorities and the main building has been transformed into a most impressive new town hall (Rathaus).

    Great to watch you enjoying the trip. I liked the art installations in Celle a lot. Very funny especially the guy bathing in the fountain.
    I never ate a raw roulade yet, but I like tartar and italian carpaccio which meat is also very tender.
    Are you still in Germany or back home? According to the soccer match which was broadcasted while you were in the pub in Celle, that visit was about 5 weeks ago.

    Do you have a strategy to staying in europe longer than 90 days or will you leave?

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did have a bit of a strategy when we used to spend most of the year on the road. We would travel within the Schengen Area and then when our time ran out, we'd travel non-Schengen countries in Europe to switch it up. And then repeat again!
