Been watching build out videos off and on for a few years and have yet to find a video as simple but so helpful as yours. Most build-outs are shown over more videos than I care to watch, and overviews never get into details. Perfect amount of brevity and details.
I have been looking for a Ford Transit van XL for weeks. Today, yay, I found a 2020 model on Carvana. It has been so frustrating, always getting bought up before my eyes. This time, after giving up, I redownloaded the app and to my shock and surprise, I found one, still under warranty and snatched it up. It's like getting sniped on ebay. Now I need ideas, not to live in it, to travel economically. If I was younger, I would try. The first video for ideas. Carvana does everything, don't even have to stand in line at DMV. Who hates that? Me. I was hoping to only spend 3000. It is a couple years later now. 👍🏼.
BRILLIANT! Thank you for an incredibly awesome video! It took me six months of looking at blah blah blah to find your video! Thank you for the concise and accurate information… I hope all of your links are affiliate links… I will be using them. I am so happy I finally found you! Good luck in all of your future adventures!
I’m from Toronto. I don’t where you live. I like the way you did with your van, seriously hope their anyway you can built one for me exactly as your van
You did an amazing job. I am converting a 2010 Transit Connect to be my adventure vehicle! Running water, outside shower, awning. Working on ideas for a roof rack to the awning can more easily be attached. Keep up the videos beautiful!
I am more than convinced to go with Ford Transit Connect. Affordable and compact in daily basis commute to work and weekend camping or on vacation somewhere without worrying the place to stay. Like you layout which exactly I have in mind. All you need is feeling safe to sleep and portable toilet. Thank you for great ideas. Drive & stay safe!
I’m looking at converting a Transit Connect for traveling on weekends and school breaks! I plan to do a bit at a time and all of this is very helpful! Thanks for the details!
Really like the layout of your van, and the bed! Going to attempt something similiar, but more simple. As a side note, there are not too many who have set up a van like this, with the bed pulling out toward the front. In a Transit Connect. We have to keep the dividing wall behind the seats too, for insurance reasons, so this is going to be interesting. But I think doable. Anyway, thank you for posting this! Love the build.
Glad you posted this video last year. I wonder how many did exactly the same thing you did as they realized their freshman year of college would most likely be remote due to the Covid virus. That looks like it was a great build and at a very reasonable price.
Just amazing how skillful you are. You did everything by yourself, really? Travelling is so important. I've been to the US a few times and to some of the places you were. Good memories.
The keyless keypad is only meant for accidentally leaving keys in the car. Not leaving keys in the car to walk. There’s been cases of Fords getting stolen when keys are left in the car.
I absolutely love your van. Thinking of building something similar on either a transit connect or nv200, to go out for a few days here and there, and for airshows. Great work!
How do you know how to do all this? Like, what kind of things you would have to set up here. And knowing what kind of battery you needed and setting up the electrical system? Can you give some pointers? You look like such a pro! This is so impressive!!!
Checkout CheapRVLiving for detailed battery and electrical breakdown, as well as Will Prowse (sp?). Search for "electrical" in van conversion you'll learn a lot! Best of luck, I'm still in the planning stages myself.
you guys did an awesome job budgeting both money and space in this van! I've been wanting to do something similar but fit a compost toilet where you had that pantry/seat, without giving up too much vertical bed space. how much height did you have under your bed with this build?
I'm getting one of those fans well something like it because that one y'all have only has two speeds. I found one that's three speed off at Amazon so I'm hoping it's going to keep it a little cooler in my van cuz I have three fans so my poor little poochie could stay in there with the wind and the coolness while I run into a store or something. I also made my own little swamp cooler out of a thick styrofoam cooler with little ice packs a fan at one end and a hole with a and that goes let's the cold air out the top.
GrandShoreIndices Thank you! Most of the wood is just standard 2x2 for any framing work and 1/8” plywood for any panels, then just stained or painted as needed. The ceiling is a stained 1/8” plywood with stained 1/4”x2” poplar strips glued and stapled to it. Any of the decorative strips are also those poplar strips. Hope that helps!
Ur fridge is empty Noah 😜😜 really though excellent breakdown of cost not many ppl do this & some people think it must be thousands to convert a van 🚛🚛💨✌🏼🏴
Not width wise but if you pull it out all the way then you can! Check out 1:27 for what I mean. I also have a van tour video in the description that goes more into depth.
is this the longer version model or standard? Also do you have any trouble with condensation in colder weather and how do you heat? Very nicely finished job😊
Thanks! It's the standard. No trouble with condensation, and there's a propane heater that I would run for a little bit to make it nice and toasty before going to sleep.
Hello, that's a nice looking build-out and a wonderful video. I am considering the Transit Connect and I'm curious what you think about the ground clearance? It's the only part I am struggling with and there doesn't appear to be any way to raise it beyond using larger tires which only seems to add about 1/2". Do you find yourself wishing you had more? Have you felt limited in where you will take the Connect based on this?
There were some times that I had some ground clearance issues but I never took it off roading much. I spent more time in urban areas or areas with more maintained roads and I think the trade off of driving a vehicle that is super easy to manage in busy cities is worth the trade off, but that was just my experience.
I like how you say it’s really not that unreasonable of an option. I’m thinking about buying a new pro master to convert for the family. Something like that would cost 100k brand new.
I'm looking into getting one not to live but travel I just need a bed and sink maybe electrical since I don't want to stay in a hotel ...question where did you go to hook up your electrical part or did you do it yourself..
With passion and motivation. It's super overwhelming, I remember the first time sitting in the empty van wondering, "how the hell am I going to turn this into something?" It's just a matter of starting and taking it each step at a time, trial and error, and eventually it all comes together. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing what you create!
How tall are you? I'm asking cause I'm curious if you can lie flat in the orientation that you have the bed? Or do you have to sleep on an angle? I'm considering buying a Ford Transit Connect and converting in the same way. Thanks for the inspiration.
I considered it but I would have had to spend quite a bit more to get enough panels to keep up with what I needed it for. Additionally, I traveled a lot in the fall and spring in areas where it wasn’t very sunny, so I wanted something that I would have guaranteed power with. I think it would really depend on your needs and where you’ll be traveling, as well as how big your battery will be. There’s a bunch of scenario calculators out there where you can estimate battery size and panel needs based on what you’re planning to run. Definitely recommend checking those out if you haven’t yet!
yo seriously, thank you! a lot of these vanlifers NEVER post the cost of their vans! really appreciate it!
I totally agree thank you for posting this
I just bought a used one like yours 2010 140k miles. Thanks so much for the cost breakdown. It gave me great ideas. Safe travels!
I'm buying a 2015 already out fitted for off grid. Blue book is 24000 and the price is 34. 75000 miles. Solar refer and composting toilet.
Excellent DIY cozy conversion van that didn't break the bank! "Where there's a will, there's a way"

You have done a great job, looks amazing and efficient, you showed us it can be done and enjoyed, safe travels to you.
I just got a 2012 and started on the conversion, love what you did, especially the propane set-up. Thanks for sharing!
Clear . Concise. Expresses in great detail. Naming in building materials . Lists and everything good stuff . Love this conversion.
You did an AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL job. Thank you so much for listing all the amounts. Much appreciated. Again GREAT job!!!

This was a nice summary of what it takes to get on the road. Thanks for taking the time to document your process it's very.
Wow Noah! That was an incredible van renovation. I would never have dreamed it could be done so economically. Very impressive!
I’m from Toronto. I don’t where you live. I like the way you did with your van, seriously hope their anyway you can built one for me exactly as your van
A wonderful job done on such a small budget. It looks so-able for a novice with tools. Thank you for sharing your transit with us.

Absolutely! I don’t regret it a bit
You are an excellent speaker. I just discovered your channel and I have subscribed. Look forward to your videos. Happy trails!
Thank you so much for the link to this vid. You really made a great value here. And it was worth every penny for your adventure.
Nice concise cost rundown Noah. Unfortunately, these days can’t seems to find a Transit for even close to that price
I’m looking at converting a Transit Connect for traveling on weekends and school breaks! I plan to do a bit at a time and all of this is very helpful! Thanks for the details!
Awesome! I would definitely recommend - it's a perfect vehicle for that! Good luck and I look forward to seeing it come together!
Great job Noah! You did a fantastic jobs on a relatively small budget. We are currently building out our cargo van now
Aaron G thank you! I look forward to seeing how it turns out!
Thanks for the short and sweet build
👏👏👏 Great Job! Thanks for making this feel doable 🙏🏽
Dude,, this is a Beautiful Build !!

Thanks for the walkthrough . I love to get ideas from different builds. Looks like your living the Dream. I’m building mine piece by piece
I'm surprised that you were able to build the bed transversely in such a small van. Great job!
Thank you so much for making this! Nice work
Just amazing how skillful you are. You did everything by yourself, really? Travelling is so important. I've been to the US a few times and to some of the places you were. Good memories.
Built it all myself! Tons of memories and some of the best experiences of my life
@@noahroth So amazing. How did you know how to do that? That requires skills. The result looks so much better than just based on trial and error.
Aloha Noah,
I just bought a 2012 Transit Connect, and absolutely love what you did to yours! Do you have blue prints for sale? Please! Kat
this is an exceptional breakdown, thank you so much for sharing all the info 🙏🙏🙏 you did an awesome job on the conversion, very inspiring!
That was an AWESOME video! 🙂 Very detailed and to the point.
thank you so much for making this 🥺🥺🥺 this made me feel so much more confident in the idea that this is truly something i can do
Yes you definitely can!!
Noah Roth i wanted to ask did you put any sort of restroom or shower capability in your van'
Nope, not enough room
SUPER helpful!! Thanks Noah
The keyless keypad is only meant for accidentally leaving keys in the car. Not leaving keys in the car to walk. There’s been cases of Fords getting stolen when keys are left in the car.
You are super adorable and I mean that in the most respectful way. 💛 #travelon #vanlife
I absolutely love your van. Thinking of building something similar on either a transit connect or nv200, to go out for a few days here and there, and for airshows. Great work!
I love your build just wondering if you can explain to me how you did the wood on the ceiling

I love your layout! I’m so going to copy this!
Buying mine today. Great job you did! No insulation?
Really enjoyed this build its perfect for me! Would I be able to get more info about this van build??
you guys did an awesome job budgeting both money and space in this van! I've been wanting to do something similar but fit a compost toilet where you had that pantry/seat, without giving up too much vertical bed space. how much height did you have under your bed with this build?
wow what a great video. well done Noah
What type of insulation did you use? You have so many clever van life hacks.
Very impressed. You did a wonderful job. Very inspiring Luv it!
Great work. How did you know how to build all this stuff?
Wow, nicely done. You're smart , talented and gifted. Nice van. Does Chris love it also?
THanks so much for the complete cost breakdown! Now, how do you do it?
How did you pick up all the skills and knowledge? I ‘m very impressed!
Come to Los Angeles and convert my 2013 Cargo Ford Transit Connect, please!!
Then mine in NJ.
This is super awesome. I think the most intimidating thing would be wiring the electrical. How did you know what to do?
would like to hear more details about all the woodwork.. design & style looks amazing. what did you use? how did you do the ceiling? thx.
Lot of work. Liked.
i love the detail
Awesome work.
Hello, would you please show me how to hook up all the electric components?
WELL DONE! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video and expense details
great van! is that fan noise? can you sleep with the fan on?
Great solution for phone holder/charger. Where did you get that?
Great info, thanks for sharing!!
Love it.... I like the wood work. I dont know if i miss it (distractions from the woodwork 🤣) but did u put a toilet in it?
Ur fridge is empty Noah 😜😜 really though excellent breakdown of cost not many ppl do this & some people think it must be thousands to convert a van 🚛🚛💨✌🏼🏴
Love the setup! Can you really sleep with the bed width ways? How wide is the van?
Not width wise but if you pull it out all the way then you can! Check out 1:27 for what I mean. I also have a van tour video in the description that goes more into depth.
Question: Did you build the sink cabinet or buy it somewhere? If you bought it, where?
Will you build one for me? I’m thinking 🤔 about getting a transit connect.
is this the longer version model or standard? Also do you have any trouble with condensation in colder weather and how do you heat? Very nicely finished job😊
Thanks! It's the standard. No trouble with condensation, and there's a propane heater that I would run for a little bit to make it nice and toasty before going to sleep.
Is your $88 fridge still working? I am thinking that it is better to buy this type even if it lasts only a year.
Hello, that's a nice looking build-out and a wonderful video. I am considering the Transit Connect and I'm curious what you think about the ground clearance? I like how you say it’s really not that unreasonable of an option. I’m thinking about buying a new pro master to convert for the family. Something like that would cost 100k brand new.
Very nice. Well done.
Beautiful
I'm looking into getting one not to live but travel I just need a bed and sink maybe electrical since I don't want to stay in a hotel ...question where did you go to hook up your electrical part or did you do it yourself..
I did the electrical myself
💖 Hi, thanks so much for this video! I've heard that this van has very slow pick-up. Have you noticed that? 🎁
Are u going to add a high top?
Awesome job. 😊
How the hell did you accomplish all of this at such a young age? Im 29 and am totally overwhelmed by this
With passion and motivation. It's super overwhelming, I remember the first time sitting in the empty van wondering, "how the hell am I going to turn this into something?" Once the bed pulls out, it's 6 feet long. I have a van tour video in the description that might help show it better!
Awesome! Sorry I missed that lol
Wow is your van warm enough in the snowy weather?
Wow pretty awesome
How often would you have to run your van to keep the fridge running and have enough power for the lights, charging electronics and everything else?
It would last about 2 days without having to run the van again to charge it back up
@@noahroth Thank you! I am looking to do a similar set up but I'm looking into solar panels as well. Would you recommend?
I considered it but I would have had to spend quite a bit more to get enough panels to keep up with what I needed it for. Really cool!
Where were the curtains from? I don't see them in the list, those curtains look excellent. Anyone?
They were handmade. Just used fabric from standard blackout curtains and then cut and sew to size.
@@noahroth Thanks man.
Very nice work the cost is a that bad
Now this is nice 👍
Could you just try to get recycled parts or salvaged and save time money environment sanity
change the motor mount yourself. 15$ on ebay. LOL. 30min job. Its the top hydro mount every time. I have 5 transits. LOL.
Tim Z LOL.
Brilliant tho
Браво!
Would this work for someone 6'?
Yes
@@noahroth thank you, hopefully I can start soon :)
Jeff Cz Fishing Absolutely not dude, look how short the bed is, you’d need to be 5ft8 max
Can I pay you to do this? To my van?
Where do you live?
Maybe you and Christian can do van conversion for money
Ware did you.buy the fridg ?
On Amazon! The link is in the description 😀
