If you're interested in the Uplift Active or X-Pole rigs, a reminder that they are not made for: - drops - orbiting - swinging - highly dynamic movements They both have low minimum breaking strengths of 1550 lbs, which means for a 10:1 safety factor the aerialist plus the equipment should weigh under 155 lbs. If you want to put a rig in your living room with 8.5ft ceilings, it might be a good fit!
Great review! It's great to see the difference between the Ludwig and X-Pole. We've got our 10ft celling garage set up for aerial, but I'm very tempted to get something set up indoors that won't damage the ceiling inside the house. Veerrry tempting lol. Ditch the sofa, watch TV on hoop :-)
Thanks! I’ll post an update when I get the Ludwig rig. I got the white powder coated version to match my hoop, so I’m very excited 😄 I didn’t look much into installing rigging equipment in the ceilings because I rent, but from what I’ve seen, it’s a more expensive endeavor. Unless you have concrete ceilings, which most US houses do not :/ It’s awesome that you have 10ft ceilings! Definitely worth moving furniture around IMO, lol.
Unfortunately, the rigs that can handle drops are generally double the cost, but they are certainly worth it! There are quite a few companies making portable rigs with higher load limits. Vvolfy (Ludwig), Juggle Gear, and Circus Concepts, are a few 🙂 Good luck with your search!
Hi Lauren! Which swivel are you referring to? Most of the swivels I’ve seen recommended by aerialists are around $80. The most common brands I’ve seen recommended are Rock Exotica and Petzl. Generally the recommendations are based on community trust in the company and a history of quality products.
Hi Kimberlina! I'm glad you liked the video :) I got both my spansets from firetoys. The 0.5m (2ft US) is their smallest size: www.firetoys.com/aerial-circus/aerial-rigs-and-rigging/aerial-loops-straps-and-cables/polyester-strop-firetoys-com.html
Sadly not :/ I know Circus Gear and Circus Concepts both make aluminum rigs that can be left outside. Ludwig rigs have the powder coating to protect the steel, so they can also be left outside as well. Hope you find something that works for you!
Hi Marie! Great question! I’m not as familiar with bungee dance, but I know there is usually more horizontal force than other aerial forms. The uplift active rig isn’t built to support swinging, so it might not be a good solution for bungee dance. I’d recommend reaching out to the company to get a definitive answer, though!
Hey Anna! I ended up upgrading to a Ludwig rig, so I didn’t get the top bar extender for the Uplift Active rig. I’ve heard the extender makes a big difference for the X-Pole and Uplift Active rig, though! My video about the Ludwig rig is linked in the description box if you’re interested!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you have any insight in regards to the rig legs getting jammed? I just moved across the country and my rig [from uplift active] made it without any damage except one of the legs is jammed and I can't set it up!
Thanks Jillian! I didn’t experience any leg issues when I had mine, but I’ve seen people in aerial groups on Facebook discuss jammed legs. The general advice is to reach out to the manufacturer if WD-40 won’t fix it. Good luck!
Hi Nat! Are you looking for a rig recommendation for someone a bit taller? If so, I’d suggest checking out my video on the Ludwig rig! With the 6ft header, you definitely wouldn’t be kicking any legs. th-cam.com/video/GvIGEOCuVkE/w-d-xo.html
The cheaper rigs have a disappointingly low working weight limit 😔 The Ludwig rig has a higher limit of you’re interested in other options! Ludwig Aerial Rig: Unboxing and First Impressions th-cam.com/video/GvIGEOCuVkE/w-d-xo.html

Glad I found this, I wasn’t sure if I could do drops or not, sadly I can’t but it just means I have to find something else

super helpful video, thanks!
So glad to hear it’s helpful 😊
What is the weight limit for this?
That swivel is a lot more expensive than the x-pole ones. Do you think it’s better? Thank you!

Thanks for this great video! Curious what brand/where you got your 0.5 meter spanset. 1m is the smallest I've seen so far.

@@LyraLauren Thank you!
Dang im so sad to hear the uplift one isn't weatherproof I was planning on just setting it up and leaving it outside

I’m interested in bungee dance and fitness. Can you attached a bungee harness to this?

Have you tried the middle extension bar to help keep you from hitting the rig? I am planning to get one when I finally get a rig.
