Setting Up & Breaking Down My Aerial Rig || By Myself

  • Hi everyone!
    There aren't many resources out there how to set up your aerial rig by yourself so here is my way to set it up and break it down!
    I hope that this video gives you the confidence to either buy a rig or know that you can absolutely break it down and put it back up by yourself. (This is based off of a 10 foot rig, I don't have any experience with 20 foot rigs, which I would say you definitely need more than one person to set up.)

    I have this same one I need to make adjustments to the way I hang up my hammock because mine swings uncontrollably every time I’m in . I see yours is different from mine and we have the same ones so I’m gonna see if you have a video on how you hooked them if not I’ll try to use this and figure it out. Thank you!

    I literally just got this rig from Yoga Body and I didn’t realize how big it was!! I’m going to set it up outside and put a canopy over it to protect it from the sun and rain. In the winter I will dismantle it. The owner of Yoga Body commented on my comment to take out the middle rods if it’s too big.
    I got ceiling hooks for inside instead.

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yes the rig is 11 feet tall. I would not recommend leaving it outside all the time. I put mine up and take it down every time I use it.
      If you want a rig for indoors especially with low ceilings I would recommend the Uplift rig. I have links to that one in my other video.

    I was wanting to get into Aerials but I am scared to do so cause idk how much weight it will hold... so I was curious how much can your rig hold?

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey there! I want to preface this with everyBODY can do aerial yoga. This rig holds up to 600 pounds. (Not saying you are 600 pounds, but this rig holds that much with dynamic force in mind. This is basically your gravity as the Earth pulls you down to its surface.) So if you are a larger human, I'd say be a little more cautious on this rig. There are other rigs out there though that hold thousands of pounds, so definitely do your research and look around. I know Ludvvig has a rig that is built to those specifications. I would definitely talk to some larger members of our aerial population for more insight. There is the FB group Aerial Safety and the Reddit Group Aerials. I hope this helps!

    Question: For aerial hoops, someone told me you’d have to install cement into the ground for the stand is that true?

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use my aerial hoop just fine, I don't do drops or swinging. The cement into the ground thing I've never heard of in the aerial community. Extra safety is always cool but if you really want stability I would look for a rig made specifically for swinging and drops like the vvolfy rig. There are a lot of brands out there you just want to make sure that they have sufficient dynamic force.

    Thank you for showing how to set it up with only one person! It looks like you can rig a hammock and silks on it, but do you know if you're able to rig a lyra hoop as well? I'm torn between this one and the x pole a frame.

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a lyra and I attached it to it no problem. The two rigs are very similar, one is a little more expensive than the other and one has a foot more in height. I was going to buy the x pole one, but there was no stock at the time.

    Hey I have a question! When you do the levels, can you do only 2 instead of 3? Would it still work? And how wide does it open up when it’s on the 2nd and third level?

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can absolutely do the two levels, however it's going to be more challenging to invert and do a lot of tricks because you're losing about 2 feet in height. Here are the specs on it, not sure what it is if you are reducing it to the second level. 9.21 ft (2.81 meter) wide x 8.2 ft (2.5 meter) deep x 8.85 ft (2,71 meters) tall. Hope this helps.

    i wanna buy but im scared if i spin i will hit my leg with the metal i have long legs is it safe??

    • @kiarahelen6006
      @kiarahelen6006  ปีที่แล้ว

      Even at my height of 5'2'' I can hit my limbs on the metal. You just have to be aware of your body and make your rig work for you.
      I'd recommend getting the Uplift Active one, I made another video on it, and that one would be much better because it can go higher. Since it can be raised up higher, you'll have more limb clearance. I have AFF codes on that video too to save some $$.
      If you want to avoid the limb problem all together, you'd need to invest in someone installing a ceiling point for you. Ceiling points need to be set up by a professional so that it is safe to fly on. It needs to be attached to a beam and the beam needs to be structurally sound enough to hold your weight in dynamic force.
      Hope this helps my long friend.

    So I left my aerial stand up during the colder months, and we get a good amount of rain, it's spring now, and most of the parts come out fine, but there are two pieces that are stuck together so hard, there's no way I can pry them apart, I've tried WD-40, no luck, any last resorts? 😭

      Oof, that's tough. Try twisting it to open it, otherwise, you might have to reach out to the manufacturer to get them to send you new parts. The rule of thumb is that if your rig isn't made for long-term outdoor use, like the Yoga Body or the Uplift, it's best practice to break it down and bring it inside to keep it from rusting.
