I've been putting my back foot in the wrong position for a decade, I could do them but was pretty inconsistent (maybe land 2 of 5), and they never felt quite right. Just got back from skating and spent the day doing the best tre flips of my life. Thanks for this.
I’ve been trying this trick for 6 months!!! It’s always felt super impossible to me. I’ve watched ab 50 tre flip tutorials and none of them helped me. When I watched this one, it legit explained all of my problems with tre flips and then I landed 7 tre flips today
dude, this is seriously, I think the best trick tip video I've ever seen, It's as good as the old tony hawk trick tips. :P no, seriously, I agree with you on everything. It's really rare to see someone that good to make such a well done trick tip. because normally the people who struggle a bit more with the trick, and do not have it down perfectly give better trick tips than the pros, If that makes sense. :) you got a new sub man.👍
and you know what's the best trick tip for me is, it's watching skatevideos. you get way faster better at skating, if you watch a lot of skatevideos, because seeing the trick done by a master is the best trick tip. :) I seriously tell the kids at the park to go and watch, for example: a tre flip, 100 times, and I'm serious with that number. :P If it takes 1 second to watch a tre, then it only takes 1 minute and 40 seconds to watch it 100 times. :) I mean, yes, It's monotone, but you need to burn the timing into your head. :P and then when you skate, the attemtps look way better, and you don't know why. :) yeah, sorry for rambling, but that's my number one trick tip, that I found works the best for me. :)
I started skating in 1988 and my best advice for a clean tre flip is that you have a slightly more forward facing stance. If you look carefully at this video you can see his front shoulder is slightly opened, his front arm is not exactly in line with the nose. This body position allows for your back foot to scoop more easily and your front foot to maintain a consistent forward motion that doesn’t interfere with the rotation.
Thank you so much. I was on the verge of breaking my board. I have tre flips but they’re never consistent. I watched this video and landed it right away.
I managed to land a few tre flips many months ago, but in one of these attempts I leaned back and my board zipped out and I fell on my lower back so bad. After that I've been having trouble with commiting. That's why I don't like to lean back on tre flips. I know this video is quite old, but I still hope you can read it. Thanks!!!!
I skated back in high school and could tre flip at least 7/10 times. Now that I'm 25 and skating a lot again, my tre flips suck. Maybe 1 out of 15 and it's sloppy. Was working on them today and realized that when my back foot is in the pocket I get a better scoop. I got two in a row today. That's a feat for this geriatric old man
This have really helped! Tbh i think this is one for the best videos on Treflips because you broke everything down very easily! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!🙏🏽🙏🏽💜💁🏽♂️
Great video dude you do a really good job explaining tricks in detail. Any way you can do a backside tailslide video? I can't figure out how to lock in. I keep doing a back 180 tail slappy. thanks
@@mattzakszewski3282 The tres come out beautiful and with the front foot clean on bolts but the backfoot just wants to plant right behind the tail and hit ground.
@@808bassquait5 I've actually always been better at switch and Mollie shuv than regular shuvs which is why I can sometimes land nollie tres. I just kinda have better pop and scoop action with my left foot.
@@mattzakszewski3282Haha this is just like me! Nollie Shuvs are way easier to do out of grinds, nose manuals etc. And my bs shuv transfered to switch But my right foot can't get with it regular and just destroys perfect tres by trailing behind the tail. Nollie 3 Shuvs are no problem. What is it? 😂😂
Another thing i notice alot and especially sinse i did this also when i first started learning tres was throwing the board outward too much, it loses so much pop & spin. If you watch Brandan Westgates 360 flips his back foot almost is driven downward. Which is why hes got one of the most gangst tres out there :)
One of the most frustrating tricks in skateboarding... i have 3 shuvs and kickflips literally on lock, but tre flips are a whole different story... i can do them, but it's been like 2 years since i wanted to learn them on lock and i still haven't figured it out... once in a while i'll get lucky and do like 5 of them in a row, but it's all muscle memory.. i'll go skate the next day and do like 3 out of 10 :(
yes, the tre flip is different, now it seems like i finally got it, i do them almost every try.. i can also do them front foot catch. Having 3shuvs and kickflips can help though...
I got the perfect movement rotation and flick but my biggest problem is when i lend it i always catch it with my back foot and never with my front foot !
Same, I’ve re watched footage and I’m leaning back, so I’m not jumping forward, I was previously so I fixed it and I started to land on the nose. Not much improvement but still something but now the board goes to far behind me for me to catch nicely so whenever I get them they look like ass. I think the problem is that I’m not getting enough leverage or pop. I don’t put enough pressure on my toes for the griptape to just come to my toe and since I’m so used to that, my scoop is super strong so sometimes it will stay under me or just fling out behind me. SOMETHING YOU SHOULD TRY IS TO POP MORE AS TO SCOOPING. SCOOPING TOO MUCH CAN CAUSE UR BOADD TO GO BEHIND YOU.
my biggest problem is that i cant get the full rotation done quickly enough for me to still be in the air to catch it .. maybe i am not jumping high enough or the flip itself, which usually is successfully rotating all the way, is too slow..
its all about your back foot positioning. same happened to me, no matter how high i jumped and hard i scooped. i realised its all about your foot positioning. try hanging ur toes lesser than you would, almost at the point when its not hanging off
Hey mate. I read your comment last night. I've been struggling with 360 flip inconsistency: landing 1 in 15 and jumping about a metre to the right to land it (huge effort required and very slow spin). After reading your tip, I brought my toes back on the tail until they were only just hanging off and bang - literally first try I landed a clean tre during a line today at the skate park. Thank you.
I sprained my front ankle at the end of June trying to commit to a tre flip. I rolled my foot over the nose. It was a fun non skating month after that.
First tutorial I’ve seen that mentions not keeping the back foot flat. Great tip! Watching this I realized I keep mine flat. Will have to make the adjustment and see what happens. Thanks!
my understanding is that your front foot needs to do little to now flicking. The flip comes from loading the truck on the frontside. That's why a back foot that is not "flat" is key. Once you pop, the truck straightens and flips the board. Really not obvious but this is plays a big role in how the trick works
I just started trying this , five days in I can form it almost with back foot land only but when I try front foot only all I get is varial flips no matter how hard I scoop , it’s like my mind won’t let me get anything but varial or double varial
This was an incredible breakdown... wow... super impressed with the depth and articulation. Thank you for sharing your perspective! This was extremely helpful.
Okay, now if i do the 3shuv perfect i don't flip it all the way = "primo" . When i it flicks perfectly the board goes behind me. I think that its because i don't try to land it, but when i try to land it almost all the time it spins about idk 180 and a-half degrees and = Fall. Soooo What now ?
i’ve been doing treflips up the euro at my local since april i have them on lock and then my flatground tres i always turn my shoulders or only catch with my back foot gonna get them tomorrow if it’s the last thing i do
i did learn 3 shove before tre flip. It does kinda help but not a lot. tre flips are easier. but i also use my fron foot to kinda 360 shove the tre flip
I can scoop a tre with my back foot and get the kickflip half way, but whenever I try to add the flick with my front foot I end up just doing a variel, idk what to do.
Awesome video, helps a lot. I worked on tre flips all night long one night and got both my feet on the deck twice. Since then I quit doing them and I wanna try again. Mostly because my buddy can do them, very sloppily I might add, and I just wanna show his ass up.
Focus on getting the. 360flip motion first. Then try to catch it with your front foot and put your back directly on it after to get a bit of the feel. Once you got that down it's all about comittment. You don't jump onto the board, you flip it under you so that you land onto it. So focus on perfecting your flip.
I can flip it high and fast every time, catch it on the bolts with the front foot, but often can't get my backfoot on there. It's like my backfoot is too far behind... any suggestions?
I have landed tre many times but i just cant find the ideal position for it.I mean like when i do the tre my front foot doesnt do the flip motion it just goes like i do a popshuvit.Plz help me i cant like flip the board and i am sure that the reason i cant land treflips
i got weird tre flips and idk if its bc of my board or what (i ride 10.34) so everytime i tre flip my back foot kinda like goes wayy to much out kinda like im tryna to make it steezy but im not its just how i learned them but anyways when i try to land on the board i eat ass bc i land with my front foot and it takes a lil for my back foot to come back again on and i slip out what should i do
You have to slow down the rotation to compensate for the airtime you get from going down sets. Work your way up from a curb, than go find stairs with an extra step than the other. It gets easier to get confident for this.
All I do is a 3 shiv. I tried putting my foot more on the board but that didnt help either. I'm not sure what to do also because sometimes it does flip all the way
Fixed it^ If your having trouble with not flicking enough and always ending up 3 shoving. Try to flick earlier. You want to flick straight foward. You can also flick to the toe side of your board. It worked for me but may not work for everybody.
Finally found a video fully explaining everything I was doing wrong lol. Feel like a derp but at least maybe I’ll get a tre now! Lol 🤦♂️ I have been putting most of my weight on my front foot and (I think) not getting the full kickflip spin because I wasn’t flicking enough from having my weight on the front.
For some reason my front foot always makes the board do a 3 shuv even tho I did all the tips. I used to be able to do em on my old board but on this board it's just impossible
People ask me how i do my tre flips all the time because i always land it with front foot first and delay my back foot landing kind of like Sewa lands his.
When i try to 360 flip i flick really hard and it stops the rotation and does a kickflip, and when i try to pop shuv it it does a 360 rotation, then when i try a fakie 360 shuv it it does a 360 flip as well, how do i fix that?
And if you want them higher, put your toes more in the middle of the tail, this will make the flick not happen right when it scoops though, you'll have to keep your flick foot high and actually the flick is less exaggerated, you only have to find the point of how high you want your board to go and it's more of a slight forward flick, just barely rather than full to the side kickflip
Toes hanging off the board on the back foot, while having the weight or pressure on the toes, curling them and ready to scoop the tail hard. You can have them hanging off the board while still putting pressure down on them
The secret is to keep your shoulder over your front foot, they'll stay under you every time. And you'll get that front foot catch.
but thats leaning forward
@@austinf2617 maybe he meant back foot
What does this even mean
Bruh im not tryna lean foward lol

All you need to do is try doing it faster on flat, the faster your able to do it to more consistent you'll get and then you can take it to sets.
You have to slow down the rotation to compensate for the airtime you get from going down sets. Work your way up from a curb, than go find stairs with an extra step than the other. It gets easier to get confident for this.

Toes hanging off the board on the back foot, while having the weight or pressure on the toes, curling them and ready to scoop the tail hard. You can have them hanging off the board while still putting pressure down on them
I always land on the nose with my feet close together can you give me any tips please!!
