I'm 60% through the game, running at 4K 70-90fps on a 3080ti, sometimes when I arrive at a town, it goes down to the 50s but after a second or two it gets stable. Xenia is really doing this game justice finally.

There is something so special about this game, that even rdr2 could not replicate, and i'm not even sure what it is. The character designs, the spaghetti western aesthetic, world design, dark storytelling, who knows, is just magic.
It’s the aesthetic I think, it looks like an old movie camera, the music sounds straight out of spaghetti westerns, even the voice acting sound somewhat vintage, the writing too feels more like the typical old western. It’s heavily stylized while RDR2 cut out the style for hyper realism. Both unique, love both
i personally still perfer red dead 2 not for the graphics (Cause ik yall gonna say its cause of that) its more of its details and arthur and its meaningful story and soundtrack and its world.
RDR2 is less western and more "in the west", RDR1 is classical spaghetti all the way through and why I prefer it (also plays much smoother and better, aiming is actually great in RDR1)
RDR2 is full of modern day woke ideologies sadly and i think that's the main problem, there's so much stuff that doesn't make sense, that is annoying as hell and should've been left on the cutting room floor. RDR1 isn't. RDR1 feels like an actual non-us mainstream western (call it spaghetti western, revisionist western, whatever), while RDR 2 feels more like how Netflix would do a western. Also i think Gun did the whole thing a lot better, yes, it ultimately was just a GTA in the Wild West clone, but it was dark, gritty, realistic, the developers and writers didn't shy away from "controversy" like Rockstar nowadays sadly does. Doesn't mean i hate the RDR games, quite the contrary, heck i like Arthur Morgan, John Marston and Dutch van der Linde so much i even have them in Xcom 2, but it was practically the beginning of the end of Rockstar as we know it, the start of modern day Rockstar and what happened with Red Dead Online is still a tragedy.
GTA 4 and RDR1 were the first games i played that had real mocap in them. Safe to say, the mocap in those games still looks ALOT better than some gamesthat came out after GTA4 and RDR1, that still dont use mocap.

Yeah but fortunately with emulation games will always be preservered forevermore. Even if it did, in this case, take about 12 years to make RDR1 fully playable. And this is all a very recent leap in RDR1 emulation (august this year), prior to that xbox emulation of RDR1 was sub-par barely scraping 29fps with massive latency, and the PS3 version was stable at 30fps and no latency but had game breaking bugs. Overall though, whether on actual xbox, or the previous state of emulation, 60fps on RDR1? Hell no... wasn't even a thing. This is a huge deal. The gameplay feels VERY enhanced.

Though that in itself is a issue because statistically most players are on PlayStation, whilst PC is catching up to Xbox, but nobody really cares to get an Xbox because it just doesn't have interesting exclusives like Playstation does, whilst RDR1 is completely sustained on xbox, but as of now... emulation has finally caught up. Yay.

Thanks for making this video. I got back to playing it and I want to share that the game does run relatively smoothly with micro stutters here and there but overall a seamless experience (30~40fps). My specs: i3 9100f 16gb gtx 1650 Super 120gb ssd + 500gb ssd
At that point, just use RivaTuner fps limiter to lock it to 30, the experience will be much more consistent and stable. 30 to 40 fps, yeah no, that's a literal eyesore. Locked, steady framerate is much easier on the eyes...

Xenia is the way to go, PS3 emulator is sadly too much CPU consuming, this one uses mainly GPU and I could even livestream this game with constant 60fps with Xenia !
Will I get decent performance with R9 5900x and 6800 XT (and 32GB DDR4)? Like 60 fps stable at 1440p? If so, does anything break in-game at 60fps? Like the Euphoria physics? Or is everything functioning perfectly and the game can be beat 100%?
With your specs absolutely, smooth 60fps 1440p no problem. Probably even 4K upsample and itl likely run smooth (my 3070 gets 55 ish fps). The game is fully playable to 100%. I've played for many hours and it's been more reliable than even normal PC games. The euphoria and other physics are emulated perfectly and look so much cleaner and surpasses modern standards in 60fps. My latest ragdoll compilation video will convey as much. You're good to go!

Yeah I see it now, there was no need for that last shot, your bar was already filled. Fantastic timing though, all your shots were white crosshaired. Time to bring it to the next level. You can consistently get 2 shot duels without the button prompt easy if you got for chest+head or head×2 Chest×2 is also possible but more risky. The age of the superDuels is here
Buttery smooth my arse! With my RTX 3080 and Ryzen 3600x I'm dropping into the 40s fps in towns with GPU utilization at 50% and CPU utilization at 60%. It looks like the game/emulator is HEAVILY CPU dependent. When I disabled hyperthreading my CPU cores were maxed at 99% and my GPU was sitting at around 50%. Also, the shadowing in the game is messed up. Very pixelated and broken compared to the game on the Xbox Series X back compatibility. I'm really looking forward to playing this game again once Xenia is better optimized for higher FPS and better shadows.

I know this is an old video but what is the minimum cpu to run this at atleast 30 fps? I have amd a10-5800k, it's intel equivalent is core i3 3220 if you are unfamiliar with the amd one.
my game will randomly start lagging really bad like slomo lagging it happens every 10 minutes for about 15 seconds does anyone know how to fix this? ive tried everything
could be shader caching, which causes stutters when it happens. just keep playing the game more and more and it irons it out. if not that then Im not sure but you could try asking in the Xenia discord
Not sure what happened, but I followed the tutorials carefully and did all the steps right but I've got 2 issues now. First is that, where ever I move, there's these green and red pixels throughout the world. On buildings, my characters, everything. Second is that it's constantly on 32fps in towns but I think much higher fps in the desert afaik. The massive input delay/lag is prob due to the lag but that's what I'm facing atm.
i bet strangers and freaks missions are still broken. and you cant ever set up camp. i played rdr1 only on pc that way. it was brutal and i missed out on all missions that werent main story
Nice share. I have a 4090, 5950x - get good fps, but some cutscenes have audio sync issues and the most annoying is at night, suddenly the ground lights up. It's a known bug but you don't seem to have the issue. Any advice on how to resolve it?

If your PC can handle it, definitely increase the Resolution to 1440p. Changing the values in the xenia-canary.config.toml to: draw_resolution_scale_x = 2 draw_resolution_scale_y = 2
Works great on my system, but the mouse movement is very weird. Its like controller stick drift but with a mouse, and it's VERY prominent. I'm using Virtual Controller. Can anyone help?
There's a link as well as a video tutorial on setting this up on the description. The emulator is free, and the game itself you can get a hold of one way or another. If you already have a copy of the game you can use a disc drive to copy paste the content etc
You cant. Rockstar is managed by lazy assholes and they haven't made any pc port for rdr1. The reason they give is that RDR1 has a messy code but really they're just incompetent and all the old developers (who made the game) have quit and taken their millions of dollars, leaving the ceo elitist executive type liberal cunts to burn the company to the ground, one unoptimized game at a time.
Good to see 60FPS at least. But butter smooth for me is anything above 144FPS. RDR2 ran 99FPS stable for me, which was acceptable but far from buttery smooth.
That is indeed the bittersweet nature of high fps. though for a game like rdr1 I think it's more than enough for smooth responsive aiming mostly because it is the frametime that is extremely well optimised. 60fps in RDR1 via Xenia is more responsive to me than 70-100fps (depending on qhd/4K) RDR2 on my 3070 fe because frametimes are more consistent and smooth. And, well, even GTA IV can't go above 60fps or itll break.
Soo happy its finally playable at a good speed now. This is one of my favorite games ever made, it's still just as unique as the sequel and still surpasses it in some ways I think. It's still one of Rockstar's most beautiful open worlds.

One was fun, the other one was dreadfully boring, too long and it sucked big time, dual wielding guns or not. I haven't heard such a dumb nitpick in quite some time to be honest. Rdr2 is 100% filler. It acts like you have no idea what's going to happen the entire time while at the same time it's a prequel. What logic is that. All those attempts of robbing the bank, you by default know won't succeed since the group pretty much disbanded, and the timeline of the game is also later years and ending of the gang. You don't even know Arthur exists in 1. He's basically like Vic Vance. An afterthought. So beginning and ending is good? And the middle is action. The glue. So I don't really understand what's the criticism there. Those wacky npc's are fun characters too. It's what makes the game interesting in the first place. Unlike those boring moments in the camp in rdr2 where you roam around, and can't even run. And you're forced to listen to these endless conversations. That are nothing more than fan service and filler by itself. Even the hunting with it's stupid star system is filler. You have to wait for rng to get the "right" animal so you can get 3 star pelt. And stupid shit like cleaning your guns. So you can get an outfit made out of animals that looks ugly. And why would you even talk to your former gang members in the first place? The game was clearly not about that. People going around talking all day long. Story pretty much explained everything properly. John is not a free man. He does what he's told to do. He hunts them down, and ends up killing them, since naturally they won't join him and turn themselves in. It makes all the sense in the world. And they even have back and forth exchanges. But the situation is clear as day. It only showcases how conditioned you are to the stupid design of rdr2. They aren't in the gang anymore, their relationship wasn't anything special in the first place. So it absolutely makes all the sense in the world for them not to drink tea and talk all night. Especially when you know that John is pretty much blackmailed. On top of that he isn't even a talkative type to begin with. Spare me the bs. Nobody's stopping you from liking trash. But at the same time, give me a break dude. If you're gonna argue something, then at least put a bit of effort in it.
The only downside I've seen from RDR1's gameplay at 60 fps instead of 30 so far is the horse shoe activity. The high framerate breaks the game's physics sometimes and you throw too far everytime😂
if I had a Ryzen 5900x / RTX 3070 of course i will run this game in 60fps but Rockstar should stop being stupid and release this game for PC soon because it no longer makes any sense to keep it for consoles since it can already be played via emulator
for God sake say what setting did you use, mine runs at 60+ fps but the the detph of field runs blurred and postproccesing seem to be not working in houses and trees and wires they have the so famous saw teeth, my pc asus G16 strix i7 13650hx, 32gb ddr5 ram, Rtx 4070.

The graphics for both games while dated (even on an emulator with max settings) hold up for Xbox 360/PS3 era games when emulated on Xenia.

I played and finished this on the xenia master last year, with all less than 30 fps not to mention very unstable. Glad it’s better now compared then.
Damn rdr2 really did overshine rdr1.. gameplay way more fun

Will I get decent performance with R9 5900x and 6800 XT (and 32GB DDR4)? Like 60 fps stable at 1440p? If so, does anything break in-game at 60fps? Like the Euphoria physics? Or is everything functioning perfectly and the game can be beat 100%?
With your specs absolutely, smooth 60fps 1440p no problem. Probably even 4K upsample and itl likely run smooth (my 3070 gets 55 ish fps).
The game is fully playable to 100%. I've played for many hours and it's been more reliable than even normal PC games. The euphoria and other physics are emulated perfectly and look so much cleaner and surpasses modern standards in 60fps. My latest ragdoll compilation video will convey as much. You're good to go!

Buttery smooth my arse! With my RTX 3080 and Ryzen 3600x I'm dropping into the 40s fps in towns with GPU utilization at 50% and CPU utilization at 60%. It looks like the game/emulator is HEAVILY CPU dependent. When I disabled hyperthreading my CPU cores were maxed at 99% and my GPU was sitting at around 50%. Also, the shadowing in the game is messed up. Very pixelated and broken compared to the game on the Xbox Series X back compatibility. I'm really looking forward to playing this game again once Xenia is better optimized for higher FPS and better shadows.

I played it at 1440p yeah worked a treat, above 60fps the whole time usually in the 70s or 80s, although I have a 3080ti and 11600k.
On Rtx2060s I got 20-25 fps in native 900p. i7 8700k. Any ideas what could be the problem?

It's easier with a game pad but you can set mouse and keyboard bindings I think maybe with some software like DS4Windows

could be shader caching, which causes stutters when it happens. just keep playing the game more and more and it irons it out.

i have a Ryzen 5 1600 and a rx 570, the game works well?
Not sure what happened, but I followed the tutorials carefully and did all the steps right but I've got 2 issues now. First is that, where ever I move, there's these green and red pixels throughout the world. On buildings, my characters, everything. Second is that it's constantly on 32fps in towns but I think much higher fps in the desert afaik. The massive input delay/lag is prob due to the lag but that's what I'm facing atm.

There's a link as well as a video tutorial on setting this up on the description. The emulator is free, and the game itself you can get a hold of one way or another. If you already have a copy of the game you can use a disc drive to copy paste the content etc

You cant. Rockstar is managed by lazy assholes and they haven't made any pc port for rdr1. The reason they give is that RDR1 has a messy code but really they're just incompetent and all the old developers (who made the game) have quit and taken their millions of dollars, leaving the ceo elitist executive type liberal cunts to burn the company to the ground, one unoptimized game at a time.

Good to see 60FPS at least. But butter smooth for me is anything above 144FPS. RDR2 ran 99FPS stable for me, which was acceptable but far from buttery smooth.
That is indeed the bittersweet nature of high fps.
though for a game like rdr1 I think it's more than enough for smooth responsive aiming mostly because it is the frametime that is extremely well optimised. 60fps in RDR1 via Xenia is more responsive to me than 70-100fps (depending on qhd/4K) RDR2 on my 3070 fe because frametimes are more consistent and smooth.
And, well, even GTA IV can't go above 60fps or itll break.

Soo happy its finally playable at a good speed now. This is one of my favorite games ever made, it's still just as unique as the sequel and still surpasses it in some ways I think. It's still one of Rockstar's most beautiful open worlds.

I played and beat both games. One was fun, the other one was dreadfully boring, too long and it sucked big time, dual wielding guns or not.
I haven't heard such a dumb nitpick in quite some time to be honest.
Rdr2 is 100% filler.
It acts like you have no idea what's going to happen the entire time while at the same time it's a prequel. What logic is that.
All those attempts of robbing the bank, you by default know won't succeed since the group pretty much disbanded, and the timeline of the game is also later years and ending of the gang. You don't even know Arthur exists in 1. He's basically like Vic Vance. An afterthought.
So beginning and ending is good? And the middle is action. The glue. So I don't really understand what's the criticism there. Those wacky npc's are fun characters too. It's what makes the game interesting in the first place. Unlike those boring moments in the camp in rdr2 where you roam around, and can't even run. And you're forced to listen to these endless conversations. That are nothing more than fan service and filler by itself.
Even the hunting with it's stupid star system is filler. You have to wait for rng to get the "right" animal so you can get 3 star pelt. And stupid shit like cleaning your guns. So you can get an outfit made out of animals that looks ugly.
And why would you even talk to your former gang members in the first place? The game was clearly not about that. People going around talking all day long. Story pretty much explained everything properly.
John is not a free man. He does what he's told to do. He hunts them down, and ends up killing them, since naturally they won't join him and turn themselves in. It makes all the sense in the world. And they even have back and forth exchanges. But the situation is clear as day.
It only showcases how conditioned you are to the stupid design of rdr2. They aren't in the gang anymore, their relationship wasn't anything special in the first place. So it absolutely makes all the sense in the world for them not to drink tea and talk all night. Especially when you know that John is pretty much blackmailed. On top of that he isn't even a talkative type to begin with.
Spare me the bs. Nobody's stopping you from liking trash. But at the same time, give me a break dude.
If you're gonna argue something, then at least put a bit of effort in it.
The only downside I've seen from RDR1's gameplay at 60 fps instead of 30 so far is the horse shoe activity. The high framerate breaks the game's physics sometimes and you throw too far everytime😂

if I had a Ryzen 5900x / RTX 3070 of course i will run this game in 60fps but Rockstar should stop being stupid and release this game for PC soon because it no longer makes any sense to keep it for consoles since it can already be played via emulator

for God sake say what setting did you use, mine runs at 60+ fps but the the detph of field runs blurred and postproccesing seem to be not working in houses and trees and wires they have the so famous saw teeth, my pc asus G16 strix i7 13650hx, 32gb ddr5 ram, Rtx 4070.
