I agree with you completely that this was a unique thrill ride and very interesting!!! Intense, creative, shocking, and subverts viewers expectations & gender role assumptions. I went in blind which i recommend to fully enjoy the experience. It was beautifully shot and I never saw a movie chapters told out of order but it worked. My thoughts were identical to yours where I left thinking OMG WTF was that and pleasantly surprised. This little independent gem OMG reminds me of how everyone praised Talk to Me and When Evil Lurks. I recommend the thrillers suspense films Watcher (2022), See for me, Alone (2020), and Killer Ritual which all surprised me too.

Great acting, fast-paced, genuinely scary and thrilling, and unique storytelling and interesting plot. However, I do wish there was like 15 mins more in the film. It was never explained how they met, (SPOILERS ahead) if she was just a regular woman or an escort, why she wears the wig in the first place, why her name is Electric Lady, why she carves her initiale on her victims, why the female officer at the end didn't report her when she ran, why her hair was randomly braided, and if she's schizophrenic. She mentioned she sees devils sometimes, but why? And why does that drive her to kill? I think if we learned more about her backstory, it would've made sense. We see two characters ask her if she's the Electric Lady, but we never find out how they even know that, and if she's a famous killer? For those reasons, I give the movie a 7/10.

I saw this last night. Agree 💯. Holy shit. It was SO fun and by far the most surprising movie where I had little expectations going in and I walked out with this movie jumping into my Top 3 of 2024. I see some of the “snobbier” folks thumbing their nose at this but this is outright Holy Shit from beginning to end. It’s also funny and campy, and I think if you can’t pick up on that you might not enjoy it as much. Kinda light American Psycho… it’s known for its extreme violence but it really is a campy quasi comedy. I felt the same for this. This movie also had one of the funniest lines in a movie I heard in a while - “You dumb bitch.” In the setting it is in its hilarious. There’s even a scene where folks make the most “interesting” breakfast” and you’re just thinking WTF is this - but it’s funny. If you don’t get the weirdness you may just think some parts are stupid. Solid 5 stars.

I couldn’t believe how good this one was. I would put it first, then cuckoo then Longlegs but I liked all three of them a lot. Strange Darling is on another level though
For me…Strange Darling by a mile. But I loved Long Legs, Cuckoo, Oddity all too and folks should def see them all. This one though just never once slowed down for a second.
I watched the trailer because everybody is talking about this movie online and I was very intrigued I am glad yourself and many others are giving it great reviews because I definitely will watch it I am glad to hear it lives up to the hype
Went to see it because the first few minutes of your review. I was sold. It was disappointing. I was expecting more from the film. It just didn't deliver the way I had hoped. Not terrible but I think this film was too hyped up. I would give it a 6 out of 10. I wanted to love it. 😞
I totally understand that. I definitely don’t think the movie is for everyone, but I can’t deny I sat there with my jaw dropped for 50% of it. 6 out of 10 is fair though, as my score would be closer to just an 8
I guess I am in the minority because I found strange darling to be boring annoying and uninteresting.... they kept saying nothing is what it seems so right away I knew that the woman would turn out to be the psycho.... long legs is another one I saw it at the movie theaters and I hated it it was boring dull comical and not scary at all
Saw this movie yesterday and I loved it great writing. It taught me a life lesson do not help injured people that you do not know just call the police or the ambulance.
I figured it should teach ppl that things aren't as they seem nor to trust ppl, engage in 1 night stands with strangers, or take drugs from people lol.

What twists? It was totally predictable. She was revealed to be a psycho, ok and then? That's the whole twist? It was one of the worst overhyped movies i've seen in a long time. The Substance was 100x better, Strange Darling was definitely not a horror movie.
Nothing more annoying then TH-camrs with their click bait thumbnails and low bar with their overratings. Stop insulting peoples intelligence... The twist was not a twist since it was obvious in the first few minutes. It was quite boring and predictable. What's sad is ..if youtube "reviewers" didn't pump this so much I would be a fair to good movie .not great...not best thriller of the year .... Because of people like you...i give this a 4/10
This, the movie was terrible. There is no "twist", it's all very predictable. The characters have no depth, the "plot" goes nowhere. It's like a temu version of a Tarantino movie. I don't know how people are raving about this movie, it's almost as if people just say it's good if they hear other people say it's good. I'm basing my opinion on the movie I saw and nothing else. People are really saying Longlegs and Strange Darling were the best "horror" movies of the year yet The Substance exists. I give this a 2/10 personally.
I think that’s definitely gonna be a thing about this movie. Some folks will just not get the vibe, which I get. These characters are hard to like at times lol
