Great Review Dave! Thank you for comparing and including a product that compliments the one under review! I wish more reviewers would do this. I don't want to buy something that sounds just like something I already own! 👍👍👍
I’m gonna get one, wanted to try an AKM DAC and see what the fuss is about. Will feed it into a NX7 for my P1 Max, so a natural leaning DAC should fit great in that chain.
@@TheHonestAudiophile thank you! I received the P1 Max yesterday and I’m really impressed so far. It’s gonna replace my Blessing 2. Does the same job (neutral, relaxed set), but has a more pleasant tuning and better technical performance for 1/3rd the price. Anyone want a Blessing 2? 😜
Good review. Can't see putting out any money for the 71 since I have the Periodic and the HiBy FC4. BTW, how about my Phillies and Eagles? Yeaaaaaaaa!!!!⚾🏈
Totally understand, stick with your Rhodium and FC4. Good year for Philly sports, now if only the Flyers and 76ers could give you something to cheer about.
I know you said these may not power planars all that well, but the P1 Max seems really sensitive to me, easiest to drive thing I own and I power it off my galaxy s8 as of now. But I am about to get a phone without a 3.5mm and I was looking for something reasonably priced but competent for the P1 Max and this seems quite good for the money so I question now if it is good enough based on what you said.
I prefer the Hiby FC4 with the P1 Max. The 71 will get the P1 Max loud but it seems to lack sonically to my ears. Planar are picky when it comes output power imho.
Mine sounds ok although I prefer the Rohdium. Only issue is mine heats up to a concerning temperature during use which I think also drains battery in my phone. Anyone else had this issue?
It does heat up a bit with longer sessions. I also prefer the Rhodium but the 71 has a nice warmth to it that is enjoyable. 8ve not noticed battery usage varying between dongles much.
7hz 71 isn't very powerful and I don't think it will be the most optimal for the DT770 Pro but it should get it to volume. I recommend something with a bit more power.
@@TheHonestAudiophile ok, can you suggest some DACS which would be optimal? I am looking for something portable enough to use it with my phone, and something not too expensive. I was also looking at fiio KA3 and I'd prefer a bit warmer or neutral sound signature as beyerdynamic is known for their accentuated highs, It will be very helpful if you can give your thoughts on it.
@@TheHonestAudiophile my question was does it reduces the noise floor or not , compared to directly connect the iem to phone. It is not an issue for some people. But for me, it is an issue. But well ok, thanks for your "very nice and polite" answer. Ain't gonna subscribe
I don't understand what you mean by reducing the noise floor. I don't have any issues with impedance causing there to be hissing or distortion when playing sensitive IEM. I can't connect directly to my phone as it doesn't have a headphone jack. If you appreciate the "very nice and polite" answer, why not subscribe?

Which mini dac is best suited for the 7hz Timeless with my Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 please, seems odd this is not enough for them, i want bass, need a fast answer from anybody thanks ✌
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you for the speedy reply, ive already ordered both, but i didnt choose the HiBy 4 because i want the smallest form factor and budget, ive actually just bought 7 different dacs to see how they perform 😆 Is it just better to have a dedicated music source for on the go, are there any you can recommend? I dont want to be carrying a phone and a personal music player in all honesty, i had a SanDisk clip mini for a while lol
For portable on the go, phone and dongle is easier. DAP can give better performance but you lose the phone capabilities. I mostly use dongles when on the go. For long trips, office and stuff I'll use a DAP.
I'm sorry I'm confused. Are you asking if you can play music on your phone, output through the dongle into the auxiliary input of your car stereo? Yes you can if you want to use up your data streaming. I don't know if it would improve your sound or not as I haven't heard your car stereo.

It will power the EW200 just fine. Do keep in mind the 71 is quite warm sounding and the EW200 may sound thick and overly warm on it.
