Beautifully done! Seeing all of the memories/incidents she was referring to her here really helped me get inside Rory Gilmore's head - NOT an easy space for me to occupy - so kudos there! On a complete tangent, yesterday my cousin told me that I had Rory's "voice" down pat in my stories, but that Jess was completely off...that he couldn't imagine Jess saying any of the things I make him say.
This is a really well made video. I have seen GG several times, and just few weeks ago I just noticed this scene. I have never caught it before, and then realized why Rory never gave Jess another chance. She wasn’t happy with him, and was “tired” dealing with everything he was putting her through. Lorelai was trying to make Rory feel better, but it was clear that Rory didn’t want to hear it, probably because she was tired of making excuses for his behavior. Rory even said that he treated her like dirt. And I don’t think it was because of what Dean said because she says she was through with Jess at the hockey game. When she came back from the concert, you can tell she wasn’t ok and didn’t even want to talk to Lorelai.
finally got around to watching this sad again about Jess not being able to take Rory to prom :'( this was the one time where Lorelai was actually understanding with the part where she says: "You can't make him talk. He has to want to...It's probably hard for him." anyways this was really well made if I'm being honest though a big part of this SL was influenced by the spin off that didn't happen?
See this is why I don't like Jess. He pressured her and she was not ready. I like the man he became but he was a bad boy before that. I know everyone loves him but I sure dont.
@@omkargurav8992 He genuinely saw Rory for who she was and cared about her - and Luke too! - especially in season 2 when we all were falling for him, and we also sympathized with him and saw so much more about Jess that made us root for him than what is evident in Rory/Jess scenes alone. Jess as a character had such a deep arc with such struggles, having no parents who cared about him at all until Luke is what they painted for us from his very first episode.
I'd also forgotten to mention a lot of people saw the natural, real chemistry between Milo and Alexis that wasn't even acting. That really did influence the shipping too, the little genuine smiles and moments and way they touched etc
@@VioletEmerald he treated Luke like absolutely trash. Especially when he came back and his car broke down. He may have cared about Rory but he did not TREAT her in a way that matched that all. Romanticizing their relationship like it was good for Rory or like it made her happy or was healthy is only due to him being cute as hell. And that is IT. No one would want to be in a relationship with someone like Jess many people are and hate the way that person treats them and makes them feel.
@@Ambereigh He was an angry mess when he came back one year later. The next time he appeared (for Liz's wedding) he behaved much better and from what I remember even hugged Luke. Dean and Logan weren't actually great boyfriends for her either, too much of the time. I think Dean was pretty good in season 1 but he wasn't understanding enough when she wasn't ready to Say I Love You, and he was too jealous of Tristan when Rory wasn't doing anything wrong, and Dean's anger and jealousy and lack of similar interests with Rory proved to continue to be a problem too.
...that comment left me VERY confused, as I've always been able to get into Jess' headspace and write from the core of him...but Rory...MAN is that girl hard to write! ...and hard to figure out. *shrug* I guess since my cousin is the only one who seems to have that opinion, I should probably discount it...it just threw me for a loop.
And the real reason she couldn’t talk to her mom about Jess treating her like dirt is because when Dean did her mom didn’t care! Or she’d even tell rory to do things she was ready for/comfortable with, like when she wasn’t ready to say I love you
They did have a prom. They talk about Chilton's prom earlier in this same episode, 3x20. It only ever comes up at a meeting for the school newspaper, The Franklin, but it's something Rory was opting out of to instead go to the Stars Hollow one. She also talks about her desires to go to prom with Lane in the previous episode, 3x19. [Rory walks over to Madeline and Louise] RORY: How's it coming? LOUISE: Very frustrating. MADELINE: We just can't seem to get exactly the right combination. LOUISE: All right. How about blue dress, blonde guy, black limo? Works best for me. MADELINE: Yes, however, green dress, red-haired guy, white limo works best for me. LOUISE: White limo with blonde guy totally doesn't work. It's too washed up. RORY: I'm assuming this conversation veered off of the cover page placement? MADELINE: How about black-haired guy, green dress and tan limo? LOUISE: Tan limo? MADELINE: Good neutral backdrop. LOUISE: Well, this opens up a whole new set of options. Bring the golf team back in. RORY: Okay, why don't I just get these pesky Franklin articles out of your way. There we go. PARIS: What are you doing? RORY: I am working on the front page placement. PARIS: What are they doing? RORY: Staying true to who they are. LOUISE: Look, prom is once. It happens, it's photographed, and then it's there forever. MADELINE: Planning is essential. LOUISE: By the way, Paris, we left a space for you in the limo. However, we're gonna need the color of your dress. MADELINE: And a picture of Jamie. LOUISE: And the amount of flexibility that you have with the color of your dress. MADELINE: And with Jamie. PARIS: Thank you, but we've already made our plans for prom night. Jamie hired a private car to drive us to the prom. We'll go in, take the picture, depending on the level of lameness, dance. Then he's taking me to dinner at Antoine's, followed by a helicopter ride to join his parents out in Martha's Vineyard for the weekend. MADELINE: What color's the helicopter? PARIS: As you were. [to Rory] So, have you figured out your plans for prom night yet? RORY: Oh, no, but Stars Hollow is a much more casual kind of a prom. Less Cinderella, more Footloose. PARIS: Still a prom. RORY: It is still a prom. PARIS: I can't wait.
This was almost me and my ex and why we broke up, like the exact same thing. He wouldn’t talk to me at all. Update: my ex is now dating a fellow band member that plays the same instrument as me 😢
Yes the way they showed this, Jess is a pretty classic and relatable example of a guy with an avoidant attachment style. It's so painful how these people struggle to communicate to such an extreme degree. Instead they just ghost you, leave without explanation, say goodbye but nothing else, etc
@@VioletEmerald research narcissism if you never heard of it. There are two types of narcissism: the grandiose one also called overt (the classical most of us know, the logan type) and vulnerable or covert narcissism that is more suble, harder to see, extremely damaging at least emotionally if not financially or even physically. Studies show that vulnerable/covert narcissism is created in the child by the mother, while the father can only create overt narcs. Also covert narcs tend to be introverted.
