    This is cool, this is something I've never seen on TH-cam before. It's like a vid on breaking down a firearm. And it is as important because a user should be able to break down and maintain their equipment. Great video bro!

      Oh yes buddy this is an easy break down but I am not sure if a lot of the non-military owners of these knives know they should check them out every so often! I hope the knife making is going good! Cheers :D

    Well, I like the fact that you didn't try to pass the M9 off as something it isn't. They are indeed multi-purpose, and a lot of guys use them as survival knives, but the M9's primary function is that of a direct secondary weapon, designed for high strength in forward thrusting. They are tough, granted, but not suitable for prying and batoning (which I wouldn't do with a knife anyway). Personally, from a Marine's perspective, I favor the OKC3S, but the old M9 will always be a favorite... Plus you can repair them and buy new parts readily. Good video.

    Thank you for reminding me why I did not buy this bayonet. It seemed very weak in its structure to me. It was a foolish idea to make it easy to repair if it broke. I own many 20th Century bayonets that are full tanged, high quality weapons. I made a custom large solingen bowie blade with a M7 handguard and butt attachment to fit my Mossberg 590 perfectly. I used black walnut for the grip scales and made a custom harness leather sheath. The US ARMY still taught bayonet fighting when I was in basic training at Ft. Bragg, NC in 1968.

      You should definitely check out the Ontario OKC 3S. It's a great Bayonet knife, I'm also wearing it right now as I'm typing this. Out of 33 knife or knife companies, only Ontario got the contract for the U.S. military to replace the M7 and M9 Bayonet. It feels really comfortable in the hand due to the Dynaflex handle, it has a ceramic rod at the back for sharpening, and the sheath is really awesome with a drainage hole at the bottom and has multiple ways of being carried on you. It is the best Bayonet I have ever bought and used. You can see the tang at the back as it is a full tang. I have never saw this knife break and I would trust this blade with my life. I paid $170 Canadian for this knife, and though it is pricey, it's one of my favorite 1095 blades in my collection.

  • @DowntownDeuce2

    The screwdriver blade on the wirecutter is intended to remove the screw in the heel of the bayonet, hence the slots in it. that is why there is a screwdriver on the scabbard and not on the bayonet itself.

    Despite there being that rod inside, I'd image under a bending load the knife will still be good and not easily bust, certainly not as strong under a bending load as a full tang or just something much wider. I'm sure it had to pass some sort of serious requirements in order to end up as issued gear.

    • @MrLeonidas0001
      @MrLeonidas0001  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well from what I understand now the knife is made in some many multiple parts so it can be easily repairable & replaceable. I have heard mostly good things about these bayonets other than early models having bad heats treats on the blades & breakage issues. Otherwise there are still modern bushcrafters out there that use a bayonets like this as a field knife! Thanks for checking this out man :)

      They teeth teeth aren’t meant to saw they are meat to tear skin when stabbing and using for its last life situation when you attach the bayonet to your M16, M4, etc

    • @MrLeonidas0001
      @MrLeonidas0001  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope sorry that is not true at all. The saw teeth are meant for exactly that - sawing. Thanks for watching!

      Rambo's second knife is look Like an m9 bayonet

  • @springer-qb4dv
    @springer-qb4dv ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty shocking that real m9 bayonet has stub tang and the rod assembly identical to cheap chinese knockoffs. I thought real m9 bayonet would be a true full tang knife.

    • @MrLeonidas0001
      @MrLeonidas0001  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well from my understanding they are made this way so they could more easily replace blades & handles since they were a mass produced combat knife.

    Your vote count is 420 and far be it for me to roll that over with a thumb but cool video. I've got to add a washer under the guard to make it fit my 590.
    Gotta look scary during these times of unrest.

      I do appreciate constructive criticism. It is however unfortunate for people with absolutely no experience with running a channel to give me unnecessary information. If you don't like my style - don't watch.
