Apple Watch Ultra Showdown: Titanium Body vs. Stainless Steel vs. Aluminum - 4 Month Test Drive

  • So does the Apple Watch Ultra look better after time? The Ultra has been my goto Apple Watch for the last 4 months and in this video, I compare the wear and tear of the Ultra to my aluminum bodied and stainless steel bodied Apple Watches.
TL:DR - The Apple Watch Ultra looks pretty good after 4 months. Damage shows up in different areas but overall still looks good.
5 Reasons NOT To Get The Apple Watch Ultra: • I Spent 128 Days With ...
The screen of the Apple Watch Ultra after 4 months looks the same as day 1. With all my other Apple Watches, I usually end up with a big gash across the front of the screen around the 2-3 month mark. This hasn't happened with the Ultra.
The watch face is made with a Sapphire crystal so it is extremely scratch resistant BUT the big thing is the design of the body. It basically hugs the screen preventing anything from hitting the edge of the device. The screen also sits recessed into the watch body which adds to the scratch protection.
When it comes to the body, the aluminum Apple Watch's will look a bit better. The titanium body of the Ultra seems to scuff a little easier than other devices like the aluminum Series 7 and Series 8's. The body definitely doesn't look as beat up as my Stainless Steel Apple Watch.
    In this video:
    0:00 Intro
    0:26 Screen Scratches
    2:11 Body Bumps

I've had a Graphite Stainless steal series 8 for 18 months, not a mark on the body or the screen, the graphite version is as tough as nails for marring and scratches, the silver & gold version is not.....so you're not painting a true picture of the stainless steel watch, the Graphite version is the best and that includes the Ultra 2 the looks of yours!
Your video has convinced me not to upgrade to Ultra 2, it's no where as good as my SS for marks & marring!
    Thanks

I’m totally confused at the ending of this video. Does your ultra actually look beat up? I only saw very few imperfections through my screen. Did it actually handle use better than the aluminum model or not? And were you satisfied with how well they held up compared to both the aluminum and stainless steel models?

This is why I always go for the diamond like composite covered black, the sapphire screen is always pristine after years vs the scratch magnet glass sport ones. The sapphire is honestly the biggest reason I jump to steel.

    • @richeyrich2203
      @richeyrich2203 ปีที่แล้ว

What do you mean “composite covered black“?
The sapphire glass is exactly why I am debating between a stainless steel model or the ultra. At nearly the same price. It only becomes a choice between having color options in a smaller form or having more features in the ultra, but ending up with the same watch that everybody else has.

To each their own! I have had 2 apple watches. My first was an aluminum one. Second watch I upgraded to the stainless steel Apple Watch series 6. Between the two I prefer the look of the stainless steel Watch. I still have my stainless steel Watch. Even though it is a couple of years old the stainless steel watch still looks brand new today with minimal scratches. My aluminum watch had scratches on it and looked worn after owning it for one year.

Good review. I’ve never bought stainless but I upgraded to next aluminum from 1 to 7 until the Ultra. I’m always careful of my watches and put cases on them and the Ultra is no exception, so I expect I’ll be happy with it for years. I paired it with the umber leather link-which I hope will stand up to the test of time. All in all I’m glad I bought it, it’s not too heavy or a “man’s” watch. Ultra for all!

I have a 7,5 inch wrist so it's not that, so probably still that little added weight which is just too much. It was unbarable to a point. If only the normal series 9 were in titanium/saphire again. or a option aluminium with saphire. The Apple Watch Pro Max glass is *NOT* good quality sapphire - in fact, it's pretty low. Sapphire shouldn't scratch until about a Level 8 hardness test, but Apple's sapphire (both on the Watch Pro as well as its cameras) begin scratching at a Level 6. Nowhere near the quality that Apple claims.

I don't think it's painted. The matte finish will scuff.

Seriously, how many years do you think you will use your Apple Watch? Think of the suckers who actually bought the GOLD watch Apple offered when entering this market. I'll bet they can't even tell the time now. An electronic watch, as opposed to say, a Rolex, cannot possibly be a long term investment. You can fix and maintain a mechanical watch forever. Your Apple Watch will be a paper weight in a few years. Is it really worth that kind of money?

The silver stainless steel watch is the most resistant because you can polish it and make it brand new.
