I never realized how much I needed a Clubber vs Drago movie. The reason the Rocky movies were so great was because the “villains” were equally compelling to Rocky, even if we never see their full side of things.
Dark horse comic books should do it as an "alternate universe" story. There was something similar called "Star Wars Infinities" where they did a story about what the rebel alliance would do if they failed to destroy the Death Star.

Actually, I would argue the opposite. Drago was a fighter. He was used as a political pawn. You knew that from him barking at his trainers mid-fight, “I FIGHT FOR ME!!” I feel like after R4, Drago would have recommitted. He was already in top shape, but he would become much more a student of the game in order to become a better fighter. Rocky was able to down Lang in 3 rounds. Now imagine a fighter twice as strong and longer reach hitting him constantly. If Lang was lucky, he'd make it to round 2. He has no stamina compared to Lang who would be out of steam within a few rounds even if he wasn't knocked out. Loved the video. : )
Drago was on the juice, combining that with his reach and height advantage and his ability to actually defend himself I am quite certain Drago is going to take this one, he also has the stamina advantage.
Because Drago had zero head movement, I could see Lang maybe catching him in the first couple rounds. If it passes that, I would pick Drago. But it would probably look like Foreman vs Fraser. Unless they did Olympic level drug testing lol.

On their rematch, Rocky knocked Clubber out on the third round (easily) and he wasn’t even in his prime. When he was in his prime, he fought Drago for 15 rounds which was a very close match and he got brain traumas after that fight. Drago demolishes Clubber and it’s not even close.
Clubber literally doesn't throw anything but hooks, and relies on his brute strength to plow through opponents. The problem is that Drago is even stronger and has a significant reach advantage, plus actual boxing skills and graceful movement. This combination of attributes should be enough to overcome the inherent disadvantage of boxing a shorter opponent... and given that Clubber wilted under Rocky's punches within 3 rounds in their rematch, I expect Drago would finish him in 2. Fair points that Rocky was also shorter and less skilled, and that Clubber was the only opponent to KO Rocky. But we can't omit the fact that mental toughness and heart were the biggest components of Rocky's performance in the ring. He succumbed to Clubber at a time when his mind and heart were breaking, and he withstood Drago's punishment ONLY because of his motivation to avenge his best friend. All things being equal, Rocky in his "normal" state would typically defeat Clubber and lose to Drago. The Drago fight and first Clubber match were outliers. So yes, Drago wins this. The better question is: how would Drago have fared against Thunderlips in that "boxer vs wrestler" charity match?
My money would be on Drago. Appollo was the only fighter to show any ringcraft in the first 5 movies, so it comes down to a war. Also Clubber gassed after pounding Rocky for 2 rounds, whereas Drago Sat Rocky down 10 plus (???) times before losing in the 15th … BUT Clubber Definately dominates the pre fight. I’d take Drago, Ivan matches Clubber’s strength but takes him in stamina. Clubber lost to Rocky by being tired and getting worn down as the match went on, Drago has a height advantage as well. The only advantage Lang would have is being a southpaw if he could chop Drago down around the ribs and midsection he may stand a chance.

Trust me, roids are not magic. A person still has to train hard and he had great genetics. They just gave him them to make him EVEN STRONGER. This is not some "Batman and Robin" movie starring George Clooney where when Bane runs out of his roids he shrinks down to almost nothing. He would have just been not quite as strong. He still would have beaten everyone except for Rocky without the roids.

Drago didn’t slip like Apollo and Drago was beat by a retired Rocky. Ivan beat a retired Apollo. Clubber beat a closer to prime Rocky once, Lang wins by taking the early rounds.
Problem with that is Drago is taller so he has a greater reach so he can easily keep Lang at bay. Drago's punching power is far above Rocky and Clubber's. So I can't see this going well for Clubber as he never fought anyone who was physically superior to him in every way.

100%. Lang was far stronger than Rocky and Rocky hit Drago with everything he had to cut him. That CUT mentally defeated Drago because he had never experienced that type of PAIN and made Drago weaker the rest of the fight. Now imagine had Clubber hit him with that same punch? It made him more cautious the rest of that fight. That was a new experience for him when Rocky cut and hurt him. Clubber would have done more damage as he's far more powerful than Rocky. Don't forget how Clubber shugged off Rocky's attack that 1st fight in the 1st round like he was nothing and Rocky went ALL OUT.
The thing with Clubber is he threw all he had into his power and intensity. He didn't train himself to go into long rounds and Apollo was able to train Rocky in the way of countering him with speen and evasive maneuvering. It was also his hot temper that made him waste everything, so by the third round he'd have spent it all to be beaten down like the way we saw it. I look at Drago as someone who's more balanced in his power compared to Clubber's style. If we took IV's Drago and III's Clubber as they are, it would be just a straight up slobber knocker between the two. I would say Clubber has an edge here because he could tear into Drago in ways that Rocky never could. If Drago can figure out a fight plan like Rocky did, it would eventually turn in his favor. I do see high chances Clubber winning this in spite of his openings.

Lang beat a smaller, weaker, emotionally distracted version of Rocky and lost to an even smaller faster and more skilled version of Rocky in the rematch. The Rocky 3 version of Rocky would have died against Drago. The Rocky 4 version of Rocky is the most seasoned, rugged, strongest, and displays the highest level of champion heart in the entire the series. This version of Rocky would have beaten Lang at any stage of their fight.

This is a 50/50 fight in my opinion. On paper Drago should win he’s more technical and has the power to match he’s a quintessential boxer-puncher. However Drago is also a prideful man and Clubber will definitely push his buttons. If Creed could get Drago riled up Clubber will have Drago rabid. I can definitely see a scenario where Drago falls trying to brawl with Clubber.
Clubber had a glass jaw. Once you rattled him, the fight was over. And Drago could punch WAY harder than Rocky ever hit him. Add in the range advantage, and Drago could win just by tossing jabs.

Rocky was able to down Lang in 3 rounds. Now imagine a fighter twice as strong and longer reach hitting him constantly. If Lang was lucky, he'd make it to round 2. He has no stamina compared to Lang who would be out of steam within a few rounds even if he wasn't knocked out.

On their rematch, Rocky knocked Clubber out on the third round (easily) and he wasn’t even in his prime. When he was in his prime, he fought Drago for 15 rounds which was a very close match and he got brain traumas after that fight. Drago demolishes Clubber and it’s not even close.

Clubber literally doesn't throw anything but hooks, and relies on his brute strength to plow through opponents. The problem is that Drago is even stronger and has a significant reach advantage, plus actual boxing skills and graceful movement. This combination of attributes should be enough to overcome the inherent disadvantage of boxing a shorter opponent... and given that Clubber wilted under Rocky's punches within 3 rounds in their rematch, I expect Drago would finish him in 2. Fair points that Rocky was also shorter and less skilled, and that Clubber was the only opponent to KO Rocky. But we can't omit the fact that mental toughness and heart were the biggest components of Rocky's performance in the ring. He succumbed to Clubber at a time when his mind and heart were breaking, and he withstood Drago's punishment ONLY because of his motivation to avenge his best friend. All things being equal, Rocky in his "normal" state would typically defeat Clubber and lose to Drago. The Drago fight and first Clubber match were outliers. So yes, Drago wins this. The better question is: how would Drago have fared against Thunderlips in that "boxer vs wrestler" charity match?

I’d take Drago, Ivan matches Clubber’s strength but takes him in stamina. Clubber lost to Rocky by being tired and getting worn down as the match went on, Drago has a height advantage as well. The only advantage Lang would have is being a southpaw if he could chop Drago down around the ribs and midsection he may stand a chance.

Trust me, roids are not magic. A person still has to train hard and he had great genetics. They just gave him them to make him EVEN STRONGER. This is not some "Batman and Robin" movie starring George Clooney where when Bane runs out of his roids he shrinks down to almost nothing. He would have just been not quite as strong. He still would have beaten everyone except for Rocky without the roids.

Problem with that is Drago is taller so he has a greater reach so he can easily keep Lang at bay. Drago's punching power is far above Rocky and Clubber's. So I can't see this going well for Clubber as he never fought anyone who was physically superior to him in every way.

He would start out aggressive as he always does and Drago would take a few hits before his handlers tell him to go for the kill. Clubber is strong but he’s not that durable. @molasorrosalom4846 Lane gassed out because he never managed his power. No fighter can throw 100% power punches a whole fight. Also, Drago was mentally weak because he couldn't handle being HURT. It made him more cautious the rest of that fight. That was a new experience for him when Rocky cut and hurt him. Clubber would have done more damage as he's far more powerful than Rocky. Don't forget how Clubber shugged off Rocky's attack that 1st fight in the 1st round like he was nothing and Rocky went ALL OUT.
The thing with Clubber is he threw all he had into his power and intensity. He didn't train himself to go into long rounds and Apollo was able to train Rocky in the way of countering him with speen and evasive maneuvering. It was also his hot temper that made him waste everything, so by the third round he'd have spent it all to be beaten down like the way we saw it.
I look at Drago as someone who's more balanced in his power compared to Clubber's style. If we took IV's Drago and III's Clubber as they are, it would be just a straight up slobber knocker between the two.
I would say Clubber has an edge here because he could tear into Drago in ways that Rocky never could. If Drago can figure out a fight plan like Rocky did, it would eventually turn in his favor. I do see high chances Clubber winning this in spite of his openings.

Lang beat a smaller, weaker, emotionally distracted version of Rocky and lost to an even smaller faster and more skilled version of Rocky in the rematch. The Rocky 3 version of Rocky would have died against Drago. The Rocky 4 version of Rocky is the most seasoned, rugged, strongest, and displays the highest level of champion heart in the entire the series. This version of Rocky would have beaten Lang at any stage of their fight.

Clubber had little ring IQ, just went all in from the opening bell. Drago went the distance with Rocky and was able to cut off the ring against Appollo. Plus Drago could match Clubber on hitting power, even though he might have slightly slower hands
