  • Canada is home to many well-known business schools, both in North America and globally.
    It can be hard to compare these schools, as they all offer great value and exceed in their own ways. In this video, I took a look at the employment reports from these schools and compared them against one another to derive some key insights.

    Hey there sir, first of all great video! Do you think laurier business school is good? I notice that there's a waterloo cs + laurier bba program, not sure if the laurier bba is worth it.

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, thanks for watching! Laurier is definitely a great option - it was actually one of my choices when applying for business school. They have a great program with a strong Alumni base. What's even better is that they benefit from being so close to Waterloo. The Laurier BBA is def worth it I wouldn't rule it out. The only thing I'd call out is that the CS+BBA program might be a bit intense and it's definitely going to be a lot of work.

    Hello sir,
    I want to know more about the placement. Because there is no placement session while you are pursuing MBA from Canada. You just have to make a network all around you and ask for an internship or job opportunity. Which doesn't seem to be fair according to me or this I am not used to. So, what's the point of spending 70 - 80k dollars on a college which doesn't provide placement.
    Regards

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Daksh - thanks for watching.
      I do understand your concern as it may seem like you're paying a lot of money for a program without a guranteed placement. There are two things to note.
      1) What you pay for is the degree, reputation and support from the school.
      These programs are expensive because they have world class proffesors, faculty and staff. They also have great curriculums and courses that cover topics in a lot of detail. They also have a reputation and access to global alumni networks. All of these things help develop you and your skills.
      2) No place will ever guaranteed a placement.
      This isn't something that is in any program from my experience. Universities may offer a co-op program, but you still gave to apply for the jobs. The reason is that at the end of the day there are a limited number of jobs, with lots of people applying.
      What these universities offer you is the training, education, resources and network to support you in the process. For example, having a name like "Schulich" will help open doors to many opportunities.
      In short, universities and MBA programs are there to prepare and support you. Although it seems like a very expensive investment, it pays off in the long run with the future income and opportunities it opens up.
      I hope this helps clarify.

    Quick question.. if I apply for AEO( direct from highschool) whold I end up in HBA year 1( 3 re year in uni or right from the beg 1 st year?

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, so from my understanding the AEO is a "conditionall" acceptance into the HBA. The HBA program at Ivey is only year 3 and 4, so essentially if you apply for AEO and get it, you still have to complete year 1 and 2 of any degree, and then at the end of 2 years you start the HBA at Ivey.
      So in short you'd start HBA in your 3rd year of uni.
      Hope this helps!

    So the reason that Tech/IT has consistently been Ivey's highest paid Industry owes to its dual degree options - About half of dual degree students are with Computer Science or Engineering, and as a result can get some wild offers from tech firms

    Hello, I’m not sure if you will reply but I’m a first year in schulich school of business and I’m planning on going into finance, I want a higher paying job. Now I’m wondering if I made a mistake because everyone says Ivey is so good.

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, to start off you definitely haven't made a mistake. Make sure to take a moment to recognize what you've accomplished and getting into Schulich isn't "easy". People will always say stuff like that no matter where you are ... grass always seems greener.
      It's way too early in your university journey to be thinking about a high paying job, use first year to get a feel for things, attend clubs and events. If the curriculum hasn't changed your first intro to finance is 2nd year regardless.
      Schulich may not be the top target school for finance (specifically investment banking) but that doesn't mean no one gets there. I have lots of freinds who got into finance.
      My main suggestions would be to reach out to upper years / alumni in finance to understand their roles and how they got there. Sstudy and learn outside of your classes - try to get relevant experience through part time jobs, internships side courses etc. Keep good grades.. You can also potentially look into transferring to ivey as their business program starts year 3 (I know 1 or 2 people who did it ... you do have to grind as its limited spots).

      Hi! BBA is a great degree it's very flexible allowing you to work in a variety of jobs and industries. In regard to the scope of the job market, most are concentrated in the GTA area. I have friends and family who've gone through the PR route and haven't heard any significant setbacks. I'm by no means an expert but from my limited experience I would say your son has a decent chance.

    any tips for schulich bba first year?

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes ofcourse, I could write a whole book on this! But if I were to sum it up I'd say the #1 thing is to keep an open mind. Don't restrict yourself to a certain speciality, subject, job, club, friend group etc. The first year of the program is for making mistakes and learning from them, experiencing different things and exploring your interests. Additionally, another major thing is to not get into the trap of comparing yourself with others. It's especially prominent in business school as it can be competitive, but honestly the sooner you learn to be comfortable with yourself and your own journey, the better off you'll be in the long run :) feel free to reach out anytime, and I'll make sure to put together a video with some specific advice in the near future!

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey, in all honesty I'm not the best person to speak on that, as I'm mostly familiar with Eastern Canadian schools.
      That being said, I've met lots of people from there, and I hear nothing but good things. It has similar metrics and stats to the schools discussed in this video including:
      • Small Class Sizes
      • 88% employment within 3 months of graduation
      • UBC is ranked #34 in the world
      Based on an employment report I found from 2016, average salary for undergraduate students was $47,700, but its safe to assume in my opinion that this would have risen to he comparable to the schools discussed in this video over the years.
      Top 3 industries are Finance, Accounting and Marketing.
      Hope this helps!

    • @itsyusufkhan
      @itsyusufkhan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Degrootes definitely a great school. It was actually one of the schools I applied to initially. Their business program is well respected, but in my opinion the fact that it's part of McMaster is a bigger differentiator, as McMaster is well recognized. McMaster from what I've heard has good student life and a great campus. Downsides to the business program is that it isn't as recognized and I haven't seen it as a "target" school for a lot of companies. I'd say it falls in a similar category as Ted Rogers, where it's still a great program but isn't as well established and recognized as Ivey/Queens/Schulich/Rotman. In short, great option and can't go wrong with it as it's still a good school and as long as you put in the work you'll do good.
