This is so great. I've had two hospital babies and three unassisted at home. My mom was present for my first home birth, only my husband for the second and during the most recent one in January I was all alone in my bathroom. The last one was my favorite by a large margin! Nobody to watch me, nobody to ask me questions. It was absolutely perfect and beautiful. I turned it completely over to the Lord and experienced so little pain and absolutely no stress or panic. It was only an hour long. It was the first birth that left me wanting to do it again instead of feeling terrified. I do best completely unobserved.

I am so sorry to ask such a personal question, but did you catch the baby yourself, or did your husband come in for that and, if you caught it yourself, how did you manage and how did you provide it a soft landing? Was it a water birth?

Girl. I am SO proud of you for saying the truth so bluntly and unmovingly. You're the only voice I'm hearing tell women what they actually need and don't need, what to watch our for at the hospital in lieu of blind trust, and speaking out for real women. More please! Brain dump all the knowledge in your beautiful mind, we need to hear it. God bless you!

I had 2 awful hospital deliveries and 3 homebirths. After the hospital deliveries I decided I couldn't do any worse by myself. And I was determined to do it my way. When I went into labor I made my bed up put a plastic mattress cover over it and made it up again with sheets I had gotten at a thrift store. After the delivery we just rolled up the plastic mattress cover with the soiled sheets and put it in the garbage. During labor I was up doing whatever I wanted, ate, drank. My labors have all been about 6-7 hours long with no real uncomfortable contractions until the last 45 minutes. Post-partum was a breeze. Breastfeeding went perfectly. I would say that you are absolutely doing the right thing. Babies come when babies are ready. Mine were all from 9 to 17 days "late". 😊

I’ll be 42 weeks tomorrow and have also chosen to do my own prenatal care and birth undisturbed. I’ve had no trouble quieting my mind throughout my pregnancy but being “over due” can really wear you out. I enjoyed watching and relating so much. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

    • @GridIronHillFarm

I was 42 weeks with my last and everything went wonderfully. Took a swig of castor oil and went into labor an hour later 😂 baby came fast a furious. There is so much fear behind being “late” but obviously baby just isn’t ready yet. Good luck on your birth ❤

All of my babies came around 42. With my first, my midwife advised to induce it with castor oil at 41+3. That was a bad decision, I was tired and weared out when I rechached active labour. With my two other they both came 42+ and they were fine, labours were better however more painful but that was because their head were displaced a little bit.

Fellow catholic mama here, I loved hearing you speak on this topic. It can be very controversial but it’s the most natural thing a woman can do. I had two unnecessary C-sections. I’m hoping when I’m pregnant with baby #3 I can have a natural vaginal birth I’ve always dreamed of. Praying for you and having a safe delivery.

This is my first child and my family thinks I am putting myself and my child in danger by avoiding the medical system however I feel the total opposite. I feel I’m putting us in danger if I allow myself to be in their “care”. God bless. Wishing you a lovely delivery.

God bless you and your family ❤ You aren’t crazy! Birth does not need to be medicalized. And often times “more care” doesn’t actually mean “lower risk/better off”.
Trust God and the instincts He gave you. You’ve got this, Mama! God is our strength and our refuge. If you haven’t already, HIGHLY recommend reading Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, the testimonies she includes are excellent. And there are many homebirth videos here on YT that show birth as it can (and should) be. Prayers for you for a smooth and inspiring birth and easy and restful postpartum. God bless ❤

Bless you guys! I'm only 2 months pp with my fifth baby, and I'm already excited about #6 if God chooses! With each pregnancy I've realized how little interventions I want, even with midwives and homebirths, and with my last it sealed the deal. I was put on a time line after my water broke and was stimulated (although naturally) to make it go faster. Sure it was my longest labor but by only 30 minutes, and I ended up with a tear for the first time since my first baby because baby wasn't positioned properly. It sealed the deal for me, I don't need them here anymore and I'm sure if I would have just listened to my body and gone about my day, it would of been better. I'm also a retired nurse! I'll be praying for your family!

Hi. Fellow RN here. OB for 23 years. Love your channel and choices! So glad I found it! I survived hospital nursing somehow as I’m not a pharmaceutical or intervention fan etc. I support all natural and have assisted many women to have a drug free and unrestrained movement birth as possible (and vax free babies) But I’m curious if the midwives you’ve experienced are actually more Doula trained than actual midwife. I’ve been present with both. Doulas can be very annoying and cross boundaries constantly for the most part in my experience. I’ve encountered some midwives who are there in case of problems. Even in hospital settings. We’ve had dads deliver their babies and MW is there to act if any complications arise. Anyhow. I hope people can know not all midwives are meddlesome. But doulas? Oy! Not a fan but some women love them. To each her own. And one other observation I’ve made over the years as many women who “think” they are prepared for a natural childbirth… Even in as homelike a setting as possible or birth centers… They really weren’t prepared for the reality and expected the midwife/Doula to really be hands-on to compensate for their unpreparedness . So maybe many mid wives may have the self expectation of hands on due to majority of their experiences with not truly prepared moms (unlike yourself). Anyhow. Praying you have an absolutely wonderful, beautiful, and healthy delivery of baby number five.🎉❤ hats off! PS love the education you provide for so many moms on your channel.

I was an L&D RN for 15 years. I started at a very natural hospital where the mom could deliver how ever she wanted without intervention. I moved to Iowa in 2004 and the Dr's were still insistent on using stirrups😢 They went away very quickly after I started there.
Birth is natural. Intervention is not needed 96 % of the time. The medical community messes birth up a lot. I believe you are very brave and amazingly strong to go at it alone! Prayers for a healthy mom and baby!! Have the best birth!!❤

Interesting...I absolutely loved my doula and she was respectful, attentive and hands off. She only ever calmly made suggestions and waited for my decision. I think unfortunately many doulas and midwives are being trained as hospital staff and less holistically...we need to get back to the roots of midwifery and doula training.

This was so good! I loved this video and I learned a couple things...Pregnant with my fourth and excited to implement a couple things you said. I do disagree with some of what you said about the midwives, just because my experience with the midwives where I live has been so good - they don't have a major medical background and don't ascribe to the types of things nurses do, they are so calm and professional, knowledgable, and totally have the view that pregnancy and birth is completely natural and wonderful. I can relate to some of the things you mentioned about hospital births, unfortunately, because my first two were in the hospital. My experience at my midwifery was very much what you describe your home births to be like, and I only wish I had gone that route from the beginning. So thankful to get to birth naturally. Thank you for the video!

A👏 MAZ 👏ING👏. YES!!! We are not stupid and I wish there were birthing classes that taught all of the things so that we understand that we can take care of our babies (and yes, midwives attending is still a great idea!!) but just like that peace in knowing what to do, how to help, what to look for- and most especially that most of the time everything is fine!!! Loved this video! You’re a breath of fresh air! I’ve had all 7 babies at home- first 4 with a Midwife. The 5th birth my midwife missed by 15 minutes. When I realized I could birth by myself without anyone touching me or trying to listen to babies heart beat in the middle of a contraction, I was all for it! So my last 2 were also unassisted births, by choice. I also would not recommend just any woman to attempt that. Thank you for your presence on TH-cam!

This will be our 5th baby, 3rd home birth and our midwife is very good to us. She never messes with me unless I ask her and she always encourages my husband to help with certain things. She lets me do my thing. She always assured me, that I’m the boss. It’s whatever I want to do. She’s like another mother for me. She’s home birthed another of our family members baby too. We don’t vaccinate and she’s never given us a hard time at all. She’s been there for us and she will be doing our placenta encapsulation too. Praise God ❤ 🙌

In our country's public hospitals we can eat, drink, move about etc unless theres some reason they need to monitor the baby more closely. My birth was very hard - started as a home birth but after three days of labour and no dilation, my waters broke early too, I gave up on the midwife (who was completely unhelpful and wanted me to just keep going.. on three days of zero sleep and constant back labour) and went in to be induced and get pain medication and it was a huge relief because I was so so tired and knew something was wrong. I only dilated after an epidural right at the end. My mom was exactly the same birth, down to a two minute difference in birth time.
I would never judge a woman for her birth decisions after that! It really humbled me. Wishing you a safe birth! ❤
Edit: it was just shy of 100 hours of regular back contractions in the end. I don't wish that on ANYONE

This is my husband’s you tube name, but mine were all the same. I wanted this but my body didn’t cooperate, I am still bummed about how traumatic the first 4 children were. I don’t know what I did wrong or what to do this time (I’m 17 weeks with no 5) but it kinda didn’t go great. 😢

Wow, how refreshing it is to hear you say so many truthful things that go against the cultural grain right now. And to say it so nonchalantly, like of course these things are true-its not new and revolutionary. This video has been very helpful and encouraging to me. Then near the end when you said the stuff about babies sleeping on their backs and the dreaded Vs, I was thinking "this is my kind of person lol!" Thank you for making this video!

Your videos have been so helpful, encouraging and educational. My first born was a premie at 32 weeks. Now Im 24 weeks with my second pregnancy. Could you please make a video of your experience having 2 premies, the struggles that you went through, including the things that you added and changed in your life that now your able to go 40 plus weeks in your pregnancy. It is a testimony and gives me hope. I share to my husband what I learn from you, its encouraging for him too!

I had my second baby with no epidural but in a hospital. I tested positive for the strep test. We found out early so I did my research and took precaution on treating it. When I got to the hospital they wanted to give me penicillin. I told them that I did not want it and I listed my reasons. After this I felt like they sent the mob on me. They sent in two women that began drilling me at 8.5 cm dilated on where did I get my information... That I could harm my baby, my baby could die, I would have to stay 3 days in the hospital, that I needed to trust the science. They came and went several times. I stuck to my reasoning and did not get the penicillin. Come to find out you have to be on the penicillin a minimum of four hours for it to even do anything anyway. I was there for 1 hour. So after all it was pointless. All they did was stress me out and make me question myself. My baby was perfect and is still perfect. We don't poke baby, we don't want baby to cry. We are not chest feeders. I am so with you. ❤ You got this!

Retired nurse here. When I got Covid my GP was asking me what treatment I wanted! I struggled for awhile but got over it. Not so bad that I needed hospitalization. Since being out of the system, I see a lot more clearly. You’re so right, they just want to write a prescription. I choose to go as natural as possible, and if need be I’d use them prn. I didn’t take the jab, and so thankful. Good on you taking control over your own health. All I got to say is, wow. That’s a natural process, but you are definitely knowing what to do.

I had my first baby last October and I’m hoping to have our second soon! I wish I would’ve done a home birth with my first but I was scared and didn’t feel confident. With my second, I’m determined to do what I need to do to gain the confidence to home birth with just a doula (my sister:) )
I was induced, which led to an epidural, which led to an extremely fast birth that led to spinal complications for baby down the line and a really hard recovery postpartum for me. It took so long to feel connected to my son, and I never ever want that experience again.
Thank you for this educational video, I love how straight to the point and non sugar coaty you are

#7 was an unassisted home birth. She was my 3rd home birth and second unassisted. She was 41 weeks+2 days.
I planned for everything. I did not though plan for her umbilical cord to be extremely short and during the fetal ejection reflex for her placenta to tear away from my uterine wall. I started bleeding very heavy but prepared for that and had a tincture for hemorrhage. Got the baby nursing right away. If no tincture is available. Sucking on a piece of placenta stops the bleeding as well. Have a happy birth. 🥰

Thankyou for sharing your thoughts so openly ❤️ I was lucky enough to see my mama birth 3 babies at home when I was a teenager, and I birthed my big little guy (now almost 3) at a birth centre with midwives. He was 10lb8 and very large head, and it was a very scary painful 3 day labour process which resulted in a lot of blood loss (clot) and a hospital transfer for me. Next time round we’re thinking hospital because we live so rural now and there’s next to no midwifery options around us (Australia is pretty backward on natural birth sadly, I’m UK born). I know I’m going to have to gatekeep like mad my next birth if it’s in the hospital (my partner is great at gatekeeping too thankfully) but hopeful we can get a more peaceful and less traumatic experience next time round

I'm a nurse as well, and always worked in cardiac Care. I haven't worked as a nurse in about 12 years not only because of things that just happened in my life but I don't agree with most of the things that are done in a hospital setting... I have to say that I agree with you 100% especially when it comes to a mother knowing what her child needs and that the mother provides staid care that the baby needs! I have two children two girls, they are 15 and 20 years old and I unfortunately had both of them in the hospital. Both of the births, l&d we're both traumatic for me, and I support any woman who chooses whatever way they want to have their own baby. Back then, we weren't given a choice and if there was one our families talked us out of it and said that that wasn't the way things were supposed to be done 😢 I didn't breastfeed my first baby but I wanted to breastfeed my second. For a medical reason, the baby was in the nursery and they gave her a bottle while I received whatever care they had deemed that I needed. So when I got ready to want to try and breastfeed for the first time, they sent the lactation team in who then told me it was too late that she had already received a bottle and that I could not breastfeed my child. I was a nurse at that time but I had barely graduated and like I said I wasn't in the field of Labor and delivery, we don't even think about those types of things in cardiovascular care. But I can tell you that I knew it wasn't too late and that they were lying to me for whatever reason, and even though I tried my best to get her to latch, I just couldn't do it. I had nobody to help me that knew what they were doing, or that I felt like I could ask so I was stuck going through multiple formulas because both of my girls had trouble with formula and we ended up with the most expensive both times because they're little stomachs just couldn't take formula like other babies can... Thank you for sharing your story it was eye-opening for sure and I know you're looking forward to number 5! My nephew and his wife had their first last night, and I could not be more excited for them!!👣💞🙌

You are literally my hero. Just a question though, about vaxes, im not into it either but my sister in law told me a horror story of how a friend of her teenager died suddenly from i think polio? and its because she wasn't vaxed and that this is a common occurrence right now due to gen xers like her that followed the antivax movement at the time? Didnt sit right with me and obviously dont know anything about the girl that passed or her medical history but i hear so many conflicting information about this topic and was wondering if you had more sources to educate myself more? i want to be as prepared and educated as I can be before having kids, im really into all of this. Thanks a million

When you mentioned some newborns can sleep all through the night when you night nurse. Do you still wake baby every 2-3 hours to nurse? Or just let them sleep as long as they want and nurse them when they wake? Thank you!

  • @ellasworldd

I’ve had two cesareans, one emergency (I had to be completely put to sleep, and didn’t get to see my son for two hours after he was born) and one scheduled (but she ended up coming early on her own, making it unscheduled). I do not dilate as I should.. with my first, I was in hard labor for 48 hours, and didn’t make it past 2cms. Same thing with my second. My body doesn’t dilate and they can’t ever tell me why. I’m pregnant with my 3rd currently and am pretty terrified to say the least, but trying to stay positive.
I so wish I could have home births, do my own prenatal care, etc. but it’s just not in the cards for me.
Thank you for this informative video!! I hope baby is here soon ❤
