    Great video and craftsmanship. I love that you ran the end grain board through a planer. Most will say that it is too risky and may cause chip out and damage the board and the planer. I run end grain boards through the planer all the time but glue on a edge grain board on either side as a sacrificial board and then just use the table saw to cut it off when I am done plaining. Keep up the great educational videos!

    What size and how much wood did you use for this. Good job!

    • @ChadPalmer
      @ChadPalmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't tell you exactly how much I used.BUT I start with strips 28 inches long inch wide and 2 inch tall. The end result is you usually a 24 long by 12.5 wide and 2 inches thick. You will have to play around in the shop and find what works for you. But general that's what I start with.

    Did you have any trouble running end grain thru the planer?

  • @adochoa79
    @adochoa79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks great, why cant you use long grain for the2nd glue up? Seems like that would save a step, but you mentioned not to do it.

    • @ChadPalmer
      @ChadPalmer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Tgats a great question mixing end grain and long grain with temperature change how wood expands and contracts will cause it to split because it’s expanding and contracting in opposite directions. It deffinetly would save time but I’ve cut corners in the past and paid for it in the long run.

      I took your advice and my next video will be out in a few days. I have to finish the cutting and editing and I did not wear gloves on the tables saw. Question to ask you. I suffer from extremely dry skin and yes i do use O-keef and other creams but I find without gloves my hands slip and I have less control. I also use push stick what helps but any other suggestions I would appreciate.Thanks 👊🏻
