- The Toyota Innova's successfully blurred the lines between the MPV and the SUV. Kartikeya takes the Maruti Suzuki Invicto (and by extension, the Toyota Innova HyCross, sort of) and the Mahindra XUV 700 to figure out which one is better, and whether the SUV and the MPV are now, one and the same.

I've become a major fan of this channel because of the way it reviews. The analysis is precise and straightforward. I like how the comparison began with a concise "no" and then proceeded to present every pertinent detail in an equally brief manner. I can't help but notice the subtle background music and how precisely those nudge/click sound effects are in sync with the text. The transitions are far too smooth. The headlamps of the xuv700 are truly fabulous. I've been partially blinded by them quite a no of times in well lit city roads. They even blind you from the orvms and rear view mirrors ,quite powerful.
They are BRILLIANT!
Same with Creta/Alcazar headlamps and I hate it!

Invicto any day for me. Space and comfort takes priority for long term usage and highway comfort. Just that Hybrid is a bit too expensive despite impressive mileage.

@@baunbaun82Why safety? It's based on the TNGA-C platform. Same as Corolla, Corolla Cross and even the Prius. It's a truly global platform and perfectly safe. I'm sure this car will score 5 stars in ASEAN NCAP and BNCAP.
@@sandeepnath1609 I'm not sure about BNCAP but ASEAN NCAP doesn't rate vehicle on sidewise impact. I'll look for Euro NCAP or ANCAP.
@@baunbaun82 No it does. ASEAN NCAP tests for side impact as well. Anyway, the above three cars I mentioned are 5 star rated in EuroNCAP and ANCAP also. As for Innova, it will never be tested by EuroNCAP and ANCAP because this car is not sold in those two markets. I mentioned ASEAN because Hycross will be tested by ASEAN NCAP since it's sold in South east asian countries as Innova Zenix.
Mahindra has got the id right but exterior is so busy , unnecessary lines cues , Scorpio n is better. Hence the hycross/ invicto is simpler and timeless in comparison. Looks are subjective

Looks are totally subjective - I've met many who find the ScorpioN 'Not goodlooking' and they prefer the Scorpio Classic over it (which I completely disagree with).
I personally find the Invicto/Hycross too MUV looking and doesn't appeal to me as an only car in the family.
To each his own I guess.
The 700 has been simplified massively in comparison to the 500. The 500 was too much looks wise...but 700 is smooth looks wise. And drive wise, few offerings on the market match it's pull. The pull of XUV 700 is intoxicating( petrol). Haven't driven the invicto but given the weight/torque figures, I bet it's "meh"

Off topic but I want to buy my first bike I am really in love with RE Himalyan 450 platform but want the roadster/street version I am recovering from a back injury that will take me 2months to recover how much longer will I have to wait for the 450 roadster/street or should I just go with Himalayan?
Even if you want to go for the Himalayan, it's better to wait as end user reviews already suggest overheating issues and the Himalyan hasn't even seen the indian summers.

Himalayan might take about an year before launching Scram450.
Scram411 is still new and price sensitive.

Very nice comparison! If we take after sales / support into consideration, Toyota will definitely win hands down against Mahindra. However I’m not sure about Maruti rebadged version
Toyota is in a league of one. Maruti is solid too though.

It would be good you bring up real time issues and try to get updates from company on those. Example 700 has lower arm noise still not fixed even though company is replacing in warranty but even last year 700 has this issue which questions the realiability
We did speak about that in our View of the XUV. Will enquire again though.
By the time (age) you gain the financial flexibility to buy either of them, your obvious choice would be Toyota hycross/ invicto;
ps: excitement/ fun to drive factor etc. wears down with age and practicality takes precedence in my view
I have seen people who are driving hilux in age 70. An enthusiats never gets old.

I am seeing it the other way in myself and my peers. As you are spending more money on a luxury product, factors like fuel-economy and cost of maintenance take a back seat and performance and the fun to drive factor is more important.

Kindly help me in this regard i travel around 5k kms per month got crysta altroz and city diesel...and a compass to self driven... altroz maintenance is like owning a luxury vehicle service is too costly for a periodic service i spend around 20 every time and things always go wrong in it... JDM is hassle free to maintain even after 200k.. should i go for hyryder exchanging my jeep or elevate
Depends on your budget. If you are talking about |Under 20 lakhs| segment, go for the Elevate.
It changes if you decide to extend it upto 25 lakhs, wherein Hyryder would be the best pick (if you want a Hybrid, else Seltos is equally impressive).
HyRyder is an easy recommendation. The strong hybrid will be efficient. Also - its suspension makes it feel a lot less tiring.

HyRyder/aGrand Vitara better - because with a heavier load they still remain composed. The Elevate gets a bit bouncy when loaded up. All quieter cabin in the Japanese duo are a big plus for longer distances.
Will go for hyryder or vitara hence they offer better mileage when compared to elevate.. thank u ❤

Any front wheel drive with monocoque chasis is simply a MPV anywhere in the world. So both are MPV's. Ladder on frame and rear wheel drives are SUV's
As we saw with the XUV and Invicto/HyCross there is a difference. It’s not the same.
For the same cost how will it compare to a Jeep compass 4x4 2.0 Diesel Automatic ?
Diff product line though, not a spacious people carrier but one with better dynamics especially away from the tarmac and good interior materials
That will much smaller on the inside for sure. But it will feel more premium. Also A do you really need the 4x4?

I think with Phase 2 cars, Mahindra has build it's reputation right. Smooth, refined and bit more for niggle free. Only thing is, there's no proper 7 seater on Mahindra lineup except Marazzo and in the later case they have even forgot that it exists. If done right, Marazzo will become one of the best cars in that price lineup. Marazzo is also smooth and spacious than 7OO, in addition, can seat 7 with more comfort.
The above is written as we own both 7OO(DSL manual AX7) and Marazzo (5 year old base M2 ). TBH, even now, I prefer Marazzo.
Not sure about Invicto, as I have never experienced one, but will be an excellent product since it's a Toyota on Suzuki disguise.

Xuv with no ventilated seat is a big problem. Sonet /Venue two price segments below has ventilated seats.

Xuv is truly amazing with its suspension and engine... beautifully carved exterior but middle row are cramped seats are not comfortable... thats the main reason for me to skip hence its for family... loved it completely even though stability of the vehicle is not great..
Which engine did you drive?
petrol even diesel is good test drive only done .. middle row seats are bad at least captain seats would have sealed the deal
The Atkinson cycle engine on Toyota's does hamper performance quite a lot. These new hybrids are fuel efficient for sure but that's about it.
The Toyota hybrids are great for chauffeur driven crowds but do not offer any driver enthusiasm.
Toyota should have used the regular Otto cycle engine along with hybrid tech to improve performance
There’s a reason for it. They have to complement each other.
I'm sure Invicto/Innova is a great car, but I'd always pick XUV between these two. ❤

Invicto/Hycross if practicality, reliability and longevity are your priorities. XUV, only if you need a diesel and AWD. XUV is fun to drive though and somehow drives more like a Ford than a Mahindra. Haven't driven the Invicto or Hycross, so can't comment on that.

I never realised how massive Innova Hycross is, until I saw it compared to XUV in the video. Calling it MPV is mislabeling.

I feel it’s not a right comparo. The XUV is a SUV with go anywhere character while the hycross is a MUV with great mile munching point A to B character. It’s like comparing an Ertiga with a Thar.

When it comes to family car safety is first so I choose XUV 700 without thought because of bad build quality of maruti
Keep in mind it’s global Toyota platform so the safety argument won’t hold. Unless Toyota has dropped their standards.

Agreed - they should have had the strong hybrid in lower variants. Also - the petrol engine is pretty efficient. As for the boot - for weekend trips - you can do a lot more with it than its rivals. Let us know when you check it out. Thanks!

@@motorinc xuv700 much more fun and involving to drive, plush interiors looks and feels luxurious meanwhile the invicto is large as well as spacious but very compromised on features and luxury. It's like a big dog catcher van rather an ambulance 🚑 type of vehicle with poor tacky interiors for that amount of money. Too large like a lorry 🚚 difficult to nibble in city traffic.
