You're so right, Valorie! I suppose vlogging has become a part of my routine and if I don't do it, I feel like I'm missing something. 😂 I really do enjoy making videos for you! 💗 But taking a break is essential! Thanks so much for the reminder. 💖💖💖
I have only been knitting for a few months but I've been sewing since I was a child. I very much enjoy your podcasts and I have watched a bunch of your old episodes. I also signed up for your newsletter, and I hope to buy a few skeins of Voolenvine yarn once I get my skills up enough to work a Caitlyn Hunter sweater. I want to do the Ingalls and also want to crop it as you did yours. Just wanted to tell you I appreciate your content and share much of the same aesthetic, I like your muted but saturated colors and I wear lots of black. Thank you and keep up the excellent work!
Oh wow, first time for me to get geeked up over a pair of sox,,,but those are some gorgeous socks!! II currently Crochet most;y, but the look I oogle over is and has always been Knitted pieces, so I'm plugging along and yearning for the day I can pick out something to whip out, like yourself..trouble is I will be 70 yrs old in a couple of weeks, so I'd better get this tired butt in gear..you're in inspiration for sure. I don't blame you about the photography, my Uncle Lee lived with us and was a professional ph. back in the olden days when I was young. We are from a small Michigan town, soI have stacks and stacks of B&W 8X10 pictures of everything, from critters to Brides, to Ortonville celebrations, to Spring Wildflowers, to Christmas in the fifties. He also worked at General Motors, so pictures were his passion and he was a perfectionist. Of course I also have photos of the late 1800's of "my Grandma's neighbors" ha that woman had more friends and neighbors, oh how I wish she'd have jotted down more given names.
I'm not sure if anyone else watching has ever used your Favorite Socks pattern, but I use it nearly every time I work a 'plain' sock. I love the size/shape of the heel turn. I recommend it very much and am glad that other's needing a go-to pattern will have a tutorial from you soon. Thanks, Kristen =]
I enjoy all your creative endeavours ; it makes your channel inspiring. You handle your content the way that fits your journey best. We have the easy part of enjoying it.
Hey Kristen 👋🏻 your Misurina is going to be beautiful and I cannot wait to cast mine on. I’ve been churning out the FOs trying to free up my needles so I don’t feel guilty and neglectful of my current sweater projects. I’ve found that it makes me anxious if I have too many things going at once! Please keep everything on one Instagram because most of us are here for ALL the content 😁
AHHH YES to "vlog" and "youtube channel" instead of podcast. I found this so odd when I first started making vlogs so I am right there with you on this verbiage swap. Also, as someone who once created a separate account for a separate interest (gardening), I found that it felt weird to separate it and ended up just keeping it all in the same account. We are all multi-faceted people who have a wide variety of interests. The photography is a part of your creative life and I think that should be okay and celebrated! That being said, I don't use my instagram for a business, so it's a little bit different. I think you'll find that it feels unnatural to separate everything and sometimes the worlds will collide and the whole "which account do I post this on? this one or that one?" internal debate....plus in my research, most people preferred all my content in the same place anyway. Just food for thought!!
I hope you enjoyed your break, Kristin, you deserve some downtime and I hope you returned refreshed and inspired! I would love to see more of your photography, I loved the double exposure photo of Dennis, I hope you will post more of your photos.
Your video is amazing. Your talents are many. beautiful knitting and crocheting. The picture of your husband is awesome. until next time have a wonderful time crafting.
I love that gray yoke of the sweater you work on , I love the design. I had no idea about double exposure photography..so much to learn! Thank you for this nice video. Always glad to see you.
Missed you, but so happy you took a break! I mostly crochet but want to dabble in sock knitting, so your new tutorial may be a sign. Your finished projects are gorgeous! And yes, I would love to view your photography on a separate Instagram site. I really enjoy what you've done so far and I enjoy photography, too. Stay safe 😊♥️🙏🇨🇦
Loved this episode Kristen. You look well rested and your hair is glorious! I’ve been checking out the Misurina sweater pics on IG. Your colour choices are spot on as usual.... as well as the photography of Denis! This new skill is exciting. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Misty! Hah, the weather here has been disgustingly humid so I've been wearing my hair up, all summer. Friday I was finally like, "I think my hair might actually be able to hold a wave!" 😂
You are so talented. I love the shawl and socks and sweater. I would like to learn how to knit some day. I live in AZ , so I don't wear sweaters too much, but that shawl is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Aww, thank you, Crystal! I hear that. But you know ... A shawl would be a perfect beginner project! Happy to recommend some to you when feel like diving in 😉 💖
The Dennis sweater!!!! LOL I like seeing your pictures on Instagram you don't have to make another channel, it's nice sometimes to see something different.
I've been wondering why they're all called knitting podcasts even though they're essentially vlogs. 😂 I think, at this point, it's just part of the knitting community. I wouldn't know how else to find this style of video if I couldn't just search "knitting podcast."
Also, I’m finishing my second sock of my dreaming of Paris socks. This has been my favorite project I’ve knitted in a very long time! The pattern and your yarn. Perfect 👌! I’m guessing I will have enough of black pearl and jilted rose to make a second pair for mom. And I’m obsessed with jilted rose. I would love to make a jilted rose shawl. But I would like to have a tiny bit of gold or copper with it. Maybe a thin strand of a metallic yarn. I would love if you would one day make a yarn that has a touch of Stellina in it. 😍😍😍😍
Aww, yay! It really is such a great pattern. I used to dye on yarn with gold stellina (Blitzed base) but stopped. I've been toying with the idea of bringing it back, though. We shall see!
I have a pet peeve when people get specific about categorizing podcasts, so feel free to ignore me, but to me, a podcast is just a serialized online broadcast. I mean, technically, almost no one listens to RSS feeds on their iPods anymore, which is where the pod in podcast comes from. Functionally, a podcast is just an RSS feed broadcast and has historically been audio because of the file sizes and internet capabilities. Once video was able to be distributed via RSS feed without killing people's connections and devices, TONS of audio podcasts opted to do a video version. TH-cam's subscription function is basically a "hidden" RSS feed (as in, difficult to import into other RSS readers). So there's no difference between a TH-cam channel and a podcast to me, especially for long form (15 minutes or longer) broadcast on repeated or similarly themed topics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (The tech aspects of early podcasting was a hyperfocus topic of mine back in 2008-2010, so.... yeah.)
It's /Meesurina/ ( only- it's not like "potato"). 😁 A very lovely place among the mountains, with a gorgeous little lake which is actually pretty famous and photographed quite a lot ❤️ 🇮🇹
Thank God your back Voolenvine🙉😻❣Happy surprise when you told us about your love for photographs and cameras. Such soulful and romantica fantastica photos you create📸🎞📸 Virtual hugs from Norrland i Sverige 🦋🦔🐛🤗
@@my-mysknitsaloon Oh wow, thank you for that compliment. No one has ever described my photographs that way. 🖤🖤🖤 So glad to be back! Virtual hugs back at you!!!
Hi there, the Blanket of Calm sounds like the perfect Cape Cod project! You are so lucky to have someplace to escape to! I really like the paris socks. I don't knit but if I did, I would want to make those, they are darling! Lastly, did you change something in the editing program/adobe? Or in the lighting? This is the first video in ages that I've been able to see your finished projects this well! It's so nice seeing all the details sans squinting. :) Admittedly, I think I may have missed a video or two so perhaps things have been different for awhile but I've missed it? (I'm a little obsessy & not paying as much attention to keeping up with video's right now as I'm hand sewing redthreaded's regency short stays!)
Thank you, Elinor! We're grateful for the Cape house, especially this summer. And yes!! When I switched to editing with Adobe Premiere, I also noticed my videos were uploading to TH-cam darker. Turns out this is a known export setting issue and found a fix. I'm so glad it's better!! I've been eyeing Redthreded's short stays!! ... because I totally want to make Lizzie Bennet Pemberley-inspired dress to swan around in at home 😂 I hope you'll tag me on Instagram so I can see your FO!
@@Voolenvine Good Morning! Alas, I am not on instagram, or rather I opened an account last week, turned around & thought wait a minute, do I Really have time for another social media 'thing'? And so I have not gone down that rabbit hole yet. I'm more of a pinterest addict. I did join your ravelry group a long time ago (but found I kept spending too much time looking at peoples creations, then suddenly distracted into looking at Other ravelry pages...so stopped going) Maybe I will post a few photos there this afternoon of the wip.
Thanks so much for subscribing, Carly! My shop is over at www.VoolenvineYarns.com. I'll be sending a newsletter out today and the next shop update will be tomorrow, Friday, August 28 @ 5pm ET 😊
I think you can call a periodic video publication a podcast. POD=play on demand, nothing about audio in there, and it's still "cast" through the Internet. So...??? I know some people will vehemently disagree with me because podcasts started as only audio, but meh. I love the pink, purple, and white shawl!

Lots of TH-camrs refer to the process as "filming" a video. How many years ago did videotape/film cease to be used?
So true! I guess we're all a bunch of nostalgic content creators. 😂
