Missed you! And glad to see you’re recharged and doing well. It’s valuable to see all of it - the triumphs as well as the struggles. Staying in balance is an ongoing challenge for most all of us. Cheers, Kristen!
Thank you for sharing your Misurina. Totally respect the decision. I would not have considered knitting this if you hadn’t shared. Now I can’t wait to cast on! Sharing even when it doesn’t work out for you is still inspiring, so thank you!! And if you’re not going to wear why contine. I frogged my Tegna same reason. Yarn will be used for shawl and will be much happier.
@ 5:47 .... aaaahhhhhh!!!! I just had the vision... just this, the way you put it... would make a beautiful boléro to put over a nice sleeveless dress 💞💞💞💞
So glad to see you back! I cant wait to see the cardigan when you are finished with it, the color you chose is beautiful. I really love the Battenberg blanket, I think I need one!
finally sitting down to catch up on your podcast - I LOVE the Sirdar top and the colour you're knitting it in! it's gonna look so gooood! :D glad you're feeling better, it's good to completely disconnect sometimes. :)
So sad to hear about your Misurina woes - personally, I would be so sad to lose all that work! I know you didn't want convincing but my thought would be to rip back to the armholes and experiment with increasing or decreasing to alter the stitch count. You could also adjust the pattern chart a bit - maybe more space between purls / eyelets? I think both of those things would really help break up the pooling. If that doesn't work, then switching up the needle size is the last thing I can think of! Good luck! Also - Constance's style is so great, isn't it? She's very inspiring!
I really love the battenburg blanket it's coming along well, it's sad your woes with that beautiful sweater but I see where you are coming from. You look really rested I look forward to your next vlog.
Love the vintage sweater! So nice that you and Dennis could get away. Finally taking a few days off myself. It is so easy with lockdown to forget that I need to take time off work. Just because I am in my house doesn't mean I am not working. hehe
I totally get you wanting to slow down the pace - and you should! I burned out last year and it took me 6 months to fully get back to work. Wanting to do things and actually managing are two different things, so staying honest with oneself is the best for your health. I am sure your viewers wouldn't mind if you did biweekly podcasts. As long as you stay healthy and happy. Lots of love. Sandra
I love that sweater with the hand dyed yarn. It sucks when that happens and I totally understand when it ruins the whole project for you. I did a dress in crochet and got over half way and realized I hated the look. It has since been in a box
Just found your lovely channel through Adelaide Cottage. ;) Of course, now I want to see all of the things! Can't find earlier episodes than no.49...am I looking in the wrong place? :)
Welcome to my channel, Jay! 😄 before episode 49 I was an audio podcast. Sadly I made the rookie mistake of not backing-up the files and are no longer with us. 😔
@@Voolenvine thank you so much for the speedy reply. Apologies for the typos..My comment has been edited. I had a cat butt in my face! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Blessings. ;)
Aah I just saw that Hearten sweater by Kim Hargreaves a couple weeks ago too! I am currently knitting the Earnest Cardigan by Joji Locatelli, so I didn’t go ahead and order the book like you did, but I was so tempted! Also another vintage style sweater knitting book is Sweater Girls by Debi Treloar etc. I knit the Natalie feather stitch sweater pattern last year. Super pretty.
I fully support the frogging if you must! I wonder though, theoretically, if one was to frog back to the yoke and then start knitting from the other ends of the skeins if that would reduce the issue. I have some of this gorgeous yarn in another colorway, and see how this could have happened with your sweater; I feel lucky that mine is working out so far - one way or another yours will become something wonderful sooner or later. I am so taken with your History MAL sweater... and it has as much of a 40’s feel as 50’s anyway.
Just chiming in to say how much I adore the CALM pattern collection by Kim Hargreaves. I ordered it through my LYS, and want to knit everything. Everything! I also love the HAZE collection she made for Rowan. I'm currently knitting her "Sweet" v-neck pullover from that book, in a petal-pink mohair. It's what I cast on the night of the shutdown, here in Michigain. I haven't knit on it in at least a month, now... time to pick it back up! I'm wondering if it would count as vintage-inspired, for the MAL.....?
"I did not gauge swatch because I like to live on the edge and I'm a monster" 🤣🤣🤣 I sometimes don't swatch either (or I only half do one to check that's it's near enough). Lovely to have you back, and I'm happy that you got a chance to recharge your batteries.
I know just how you feel about pooling - it's beautiful yarn and it made a beautiful sweater, and I'm sure no one else would have any issues with it, but I really dislike pooling/flashing myself, so totally understand your decision. I'm sure you'll come up with something else beautiful to use the yarn for. The Kim Hargreaves sweater is lovely - I wish she sold her designs through Ravelry, or at least through some other means than hard copies from the British website, because so many of them are great, but if I can just download something pretty much just as great from ravelry, I'm not going to go through the trouble of buying her books.
Ah good to have you back Kristen! It’s such a shame about the la bien Aimee wool! I’d love to find a similar colour on a more affordable yarn, I’m rubbish at describing colours though, would you cal that a dusky blue?
Where can I get this pattern...I'm in love with it... links don't work for me and my cheap phone.... can I purchase the pattern somewhere please... hugs Lynn Weasenforth 💯💜💛💙🌹
Adding that Sirdar pattern to the list of "Things I need to knit yesterday" - I always have to play with gauge and measurements for vintage patterns, as I'm a 38" bust. I've gotten very good at the maths haha - but only when I'm doing the maths to my size. Any other size, and I have a heap of trouble
Maybe the green in the wall and the khaki attack is your grandmother saying hello! I know you’ve mentioned before on the podcast how much she loved green.
You might be right! It's funny how she shows up in little ways like that. Ever since she passed, I've been seeing more cardinals in our yard than usual ... and she loved them, too! 😊
I was beginning to wonder about you! You do what you need to do and feel like doing! That’s an order! Ok casting on a sweater as precious as that and not swatching!?!? That is major risk taking behaviour my friend! 😘😘
Thanks for the Skillshare link, I used it and it has given me a 14 day premium free trial, no mention of 2 months free.... does the 2 months trial no longer apply? I don't suppose there is much you can do about it, but I just thought I would ask. Thankyou x
Sad to say the Sirdar ladies jumper pattern is now out of print and can’t be accessed from Ravelry- it’s one I would love to knit. If anyone knows where I can get a copy please shout out
I watch your You Tube channel on an iPad Pro. The ‘picture’ comes over almost black and white. Colours do show, but in a very shadowed grey/pink. I seem to be looking at it through a grey veil. I cannot distinguish at all well what colours you are actually using. I don’t seem able to adjust it and all other channels are’ normal. Can anyone help?
I both love and hate Hargreaves. Her patterns are as beautiful as they are size exclusive. I actually removed her from any search results on Ravelry because I am always inevitably dissapointed. I really hope she changes things.
Ah, that really stinks, Sasha! I can understand why you'd remove her from search results. Getting excited about something followed by disappointment isn't a good feeling. It seems like many popular designers are taking action and expanding their size range. Hopefully, KH will eventually follow suit.
Not to stop you from frogging, do it. This is just an idle question. Do you ever use 3 keins of yarn to help to stop pooling? I love your show. Your color ideas are opening new worlds for me.

@@xxxxxx-sv8mj So happy to hear you're enjoying my channel and getting inspired! 🤗 I have not used three skeins ... I'm sure it can be done! Though, I usually find knitting with / alternating two skeins at a time a bit tricky to manage.

Quality over quantity, so fewer videos and a healthy Kristin it is

Thanks, Sandra. You are so right! I'm sorry to hear you burned out as well. It's not a good feeling at all. Self-care FTW!
Yay happy to see you back! Sorry to hear about your sweater though.
A tip I saw recently is, when working with hand dyed yarns, alternate skeins row by row to help eliminate or diminish color pooling.
Try helical knitting, it is even better because it avoids the line running vertically
The Rowan yarn looks awesome with your eyes.

Could you rip back to color work and knit the body with solid grey?
...good question!...
Great idea! I've thought about it but I'm one of those people who need the whole sweater to be knit out of the same yarn 😂 #PersonalBrandOfOCD

Is it possible to purchase the yarn for the Sirdar 1475?. Delivery to Holland.
