Hey guys thanks for watching! Please let me know if you like this style of content, are there any ants in particular that you'd like to watch grow? Have a chillin day guys!
Hey! Thank you very much, I’ve taken quite a bit of inspiration from your recent ant video so I’m glad you enjoyed :) I’m using a canon 750D with a canon 60mm f2.8 macro lens. Just got some extension tubes coming in the mail too. What about you? Love your realistic natural events 🤣
@@ant.invasion Nice. I just bought a Sony a7iii with some sigma zoom lens. I know like nothing about cameras and I feel like the quality of my footage looks like trash compared to other people, maybe its a setting or something I'm messing up
Oh wicked dude! Yeah I’ve been looking into the a7siii, definitely the way to go I reckon. Great slomo too? I thought your footage looked great! All the shots of the ants in their nest were wicked dude! Shoot me a message on Instagram, I’ll send you some lenses that could look insane
@@ant.invasionAs another Aussie ant keeper, I hope your colonies go very well, sadly Melbourne isn’t really very ant active area especially in the city😅👍👍👍
The queen cracked me up when the workers were trying to help her get out the tube. They made two exits and she chose the smallest one (also up higher) where she had to force her huge gaster out of! 😂
@@ant.invasion how do you capture your fruit fly? how I do it is I get a smal glass or plastic cup or container thenthen I add some rotting fruit or peels then I place some transparent plastic put smal holes then place it close to my garbge so whenever I throw it all the fruit flys have only 1 option for food.
im kinda new. sooo when the queen doesnt have workers, do u feed her? and if u do, what do u feed her? 2nd question: what do u really feed the ants sometimes and always. is the chicken cooked? i mean i gave my other ant colony a cooked chicken and they didnt really like it. they only like mealworms and cockroaches
Hey man! No worries at all, I love to hear new people getting into ant keeping so good on you! There’s a few videos out there on TH-cam including some that I’ve made which teach you how to raise your queen ants. First things first, you’ll want to identify your queen ant, most of the time they’re claustral queens. Meaning that she has enough fat and protein stored inside her to raise her first generation of workers, this first generation will be the ones that go out and find food to further fuel and grow the colony. This means you won’t have to feed her until she gets her first workers… woohoo! If she’s semi claustral like bull ants for example, you’ll need to offer her food before and while she has any brood. My go-to food of choice is usually little insects, especially pet store crickets they go down a treat. Otherwise yes go ahead and experiment with protein rich food that you eat yourself, like chicken, mince, nuts and seeds. Ant diets vary lots between different species so don’t be discouraged if they don’t even touch anything random you give them hahaha. Ant keeping is a lot to do with trial and error. I hope this was helpful, thanks for asking dude!
@@ant.invasion np man this was very helpful but what if the crickets jump out how u supposed to get em. plus, i had a fire ant queen i caught and by the time there were its first workers, it died
Ahhh that’s a shame man sorry to hear that. Don’t feel alone though, this happens all the time in ant keeping, very unfortunate man! I usually pull the crickets apart before feeding my ants, especially smaller species, since they’ll get hurt if not
enjoyed watching this video love to see more long videos in future by the way where is moisture chamber in that wooden nest my favourite ant genus is componotus as they r big
Excellent video, informative and entertaining without being obnoxious or too overly-edited. Did you make the wooden nest yourself? Do you hydrate it or does this spieces like dry nests?
This is the best video for a beginner like me. I watched few other videos and they're all confusing and you won't get what you need as a beginner. But here i can see what i need
Ahh great question! Well the other queens are in their own seperate tubes, so I can choose to keep those colonies, but usually I end up selling them to anyone who wants them / can’t catch a queen of their own!
I raised Solenopsis Invicta for years and it was a good experience. Now I am currently awaiting the arrival of my foundling colony of "Pyramid Ants". Love your video!
Do you have tips for ones that are massive growing ones because I am getting fire ants because I proved that I was able to take care of tetranorium bicarinatum ant
Wait what happend to the ants in the previous video? Also you should add 2 different kinds of ant species and after 30 days open the cage for both colonies to enter. Idk just curious to see the outcome of 2 different ant colonies in the same space
Please help me, i have starved my ants, drowned my ants dropped my ants and soon to do more dumb stuff (probably) please make a video on what to do if you make make mistakes on this sort of stuff.

TERRA GREEN WHAT
How do you hydrate their wooden nest?
I don't really know!
Their nest does not need to be moistened, because these ants do not like moisture
Just put leaves in outworld n the nest it’s self keep it in a warm or humid room
U dont. Some ants can live with water Just in the outworld.
Watching an ant colonies starting stages is so satisfying
Right!? Is there any way I could film them that'd make it even more interesting?
@@ant.invasion I would certainly invest in a camera lens that lets you get high quality close ups through the plexiglass :)
@@PhoenixsRealm i agree
Awesome mate! Nostalgic as ever and great to see your making videos again!
Ahh man that means heaps thanks for that! More videos like this coming soon, keep an eye out ;)

Thanks Hayden, yes bro that sounds like a great idea, imagine seeing their progress after 1 year!
Great video, loved seeing the ants move from one nest to another!
Thanks mate! It truly is a marvellous event!
hey man I have a few ant colonys, do you feed your ants wild fruit flys then Freeze them? great video btw.
Hey! Yes that’s exactly what I do! I find that fruit flies are also perfect for test tube sized colonies too :)
@@ant.invasion thanks man your going to be a life saver for my ants
No worries, let me know how it goes. I usually pull them apart just before feeding my ants just in case they wake but up from their frosty dreams aha
