Since I’m getting this comment a lot, when I wrote the video, I was aware that Anya’s costume as Spider-Girl is based on one of the character’s original designs. But my issue is that they chose to use an iteration of the outfit that looked just like Venom’s and gave no explanation for it within the show itself. Just wanted to clear that up!

I look at spiderman maxim venom because venom 2 maximum carnage trailer didn't release. It's good as a idea and as a mini series, but not with marvel's spiderman.

Wouldn’t be a problem if people stopped making Peter a child, its not like everyone freaked out on the PS4 since we weren’t told every step of his journey since he was in high school
I actually like this series but you’re right, they go through story arcs so quickly. Superior Spider-Man was like what 6 episodes?

Why are all of Spider-Man's villains kids? After a while, it just starts to feel like Gotham.

I remember being frustrated when they hired Josh Keaton but not as Spider-Man.
Looking back, he really dodged a bullet.

there are some element of the Insomnica ps4 spider man game in this show I mean Miles voice actor in the show is the same voice actor for the his ps4 appersih even Yuri Lowental the voice actor of Peter Parker in the Insomncia games is the voice for Dr Curt Conner for this series and Peter parting with Yuri Watanabe in some potions of the 2rd season and Mister Negative make a mirror appering in this series.

Yeah I'm fine if it was just him and miles then it adds a dynamic between them. Though have Peter be a couple years older so that they can still have a sibling relationship.

No the problem is the show includes too many people with Spider-Man’s and then hardly includes them!!!! In sinister 6 where was everyone else!!!!!! It's baffling they can't just let spidy be around people with other powers than his own, aside from the villains. Like, y'know, nearly every other spiderman cartoon.
As for Anna Maria, they were probably trying to adapt that portion of the Superior Spider-Man story where Doc (as Peter) falls in love with her, I’m not sure they realized that in the comic story Peter was like 25
Considering the absolute refusal for everyone to make peter older than 15 I’d assume they just thought he was always 15 since those 10 or so issues in ten comics existed
@@creed8712 yeah i don't get that, spider man's big boom into mass relevancy was during the 90's alongside the x-men with an animated series where he was college aged, for the raimi trilogy, he's out of high school at the end of the first act in the first movie,those were a huge boom for him as well,he always seems to gather more popularity in his university days , so its quite strange that there's been such a huge lack of it since raimi
@@Tannerj50 The comics do it too, the fact that he was supposed to be married and lost a child back in the 90s was forgotten then retconned and Parker Industries had the same thing. Their refusal to age him makes this weird relationship with Miles where he's a successor with no purpose and isn't even needed (since Ben Reilly and Kane are back)
The Villain Design is so boring, most of them are generic dudes with armor

I think the MCU had a play in this. A lot of their villans are guys with good tech, and then that influenced media falling under it like games, comics, and shows.

Another thing that bugged me is why Peter never told his secret identity to Gwen and Anya. They have spider powers and they fight crime together, so there's no point to this.
I do find it odd that it took until near the end of the series for them to find out (there's an upcoming episode called "Spider-Man Unmasked", with one commercial showing at least Gwen's reaction).

“How am I supposed to learn at this school?!” ... she’s not wrong. From what I’ve seen Horizon High should have BEEN shut down. It’s one thing when shady companies like Oscorp are behind stuff as it’s done in secret, but when we have all of these PUBLIC incidents, I ask “how is this place still running?”
Also, the fact that they seem to create WMDs and weapons that vastly surpass the military daily and no one seems to care
It's-a me Megatron. When Harry’s project was revealed to be BOMBS in an early episode and it was ignored I knew things were going to be stupid.
I personally like to explain it by saying OsCorp is a very large corporation and has plenty of money to shape their media story and bend the law a bit.
Stark Industries also makes things like weapons of mass destruction, yet are depicted as good simply because Iron Man is the owner.
Don't worry. In season 3 there is still horizon high but the show doesn't completely revolve around that single place anymore

I mean I would get Oscorp or Alchemax because shady companies are gonna be shady but when one singular place develops WMDs almost on the daily, at what does the city step in and say "Get your house in order or we're pulling your funding."
Then again, and I don't watch the show so maybe I'm just guessing here but I think the school is secretly being funded by Oscorp.

Otto had cancer or some other deadly disease which was why he swapped bodies with Peter. That's why Peter ended up dying, leaving Otto as Spider-Man

Why do the avengers look awful in this animation.. ewe when they're taking a selfie.. captain America looked like a cosplayer than a professional avenger , Tony's armor looked lifeless.. hulk... looks ok.. black widow has a bald spot.. Stan lee approved of this?

The most important revelation from this video is learning that Robot Monkey Team is on Disney+
Ghost Ball it’s a masterful show, imo. I wouldn’t expect any less since it was creator by one of the folks behind classic Teen Titans. But what I certainly wasn’t expecting was how dark, violent, and heartbreaking Robot Monkey Team really was. It’s a hidden masterpiece for sure and has some of the best villains I’ve ever seen

Out of all the Marvel cartoons since 2012, Ultimate Spider-Man has definitely got the better and more fluid animation
the series got better in season 3and 4,Ulimate spiderman not to confused with the comic it looesly base on which it recommed to read the cartoon is above avarege show.
In terms of plot and voice acting, it was terrible and Drake Bell was the worse Spiderman.

This show is so terrible that it makes Ultimate Spider-Man look like a masterpiece. Just recently bought both seasons of spectacular Spider-Man. I was a kid when I experienced it for the first time, now that I'm in my mid 20s, i wanted to see if I would understand it better and try to spot things I may have missed before. Let me tell you, that show can throw multiple story lines at you in the 13 episodes of a season, and still have it all makes sense as it's either rapping up an arc or setting up a new one. I find myself missing the spectacular spider man, a lot.

Ultimate Spiderman's animation wasn't too bad
Ultimate Spider-Man wasn't that great starting out, but once they got serious. The show turned really good
I do appreciate how bizzare ultimate got later on. Deadpool shows up multiple times, they did the spiderverse thing before the movie, and there was this one weird arc with the collector at the end. I'd rather have it be weird and not make sense than the new one which is so freakin boring.
The biggest mistake they made is that Peter is calling himself a bug...

Umm I am not so sure about that I think If I remember corectly that is, he was kinda getting tired of corecting people and started making the same mistake I do remember he Corrects Kraven at some point calling him out how he doesn't know the correct terms even though he is a hunter or something. Overall I see flaws of the series but Enjoy it despite them also I think Peter and his friends are at least for ne more likeabld in this one. Especially couse I was always annoyed how shallow or just deeply sexualised his relations with girls were in other shows I dunno maybe that bothers me as a girl but still. I enjoyed every Spiderman out there to some extent as well as this one. Sorry for my eng😁

Actually this version of Doc Ock was specified to be about a much younger version than usual and Anna Maria is a dwarf, so it’s a lot less uncomfortable than you think.

Due to the crappy designs she looks more like a child then a dwarf. You can't just draw dwarves with child proporations just because they're both short.

I respect this comment as the superior spider man arc made me watch the entire series as a whole. I was pretty nit picky at a lot of the stuff and wanted to complain about it all but actually came out of the series slightly enjoying it. It's not the best series but it's not exactly the worst series out there, I've seen far worse series out there (not spider man related) but since the superior spiderman arc was the way it was and actually engaging for me I feel like they can do something like it again, making something that is actually enjoyable for everyone to watch.

I think the problem with ultimate spiderman was the sometimes very childish humor and the bland villains. But I liked it, The first 2 or 3 seasons of this show where realy good, the giant character cast was very interesting (The Avengers,Wolverine,Cloak and Dagger,Deadpool...) Plus this show had some new story arcs that I never seen before like that in any other show,movie or comic. And the ending kinda hit hard,it showed that spidey is now way stronger, a true Avenger and can beat villains he had problems with earlier
@@HollowNaruto63 I found it to be a fun time but lack the impact of something like spectacular or the 90's cartoon. The earlier seasons were great but after that, they took some weird directions with chracters and then turned the whole show into some superhero academy thing which ruined the entire essence of what spiderman stood for.

Don’t forget about Scorpion. He’s just there... a lot of the villains in this show just kind of pop out of nowhere. I mean it makes sense that there’s established villains in a world with established heroes (like the assortment of Avengers baddies)... but even a majority of Spidey’s rogues exist before he does.

This is funny I recently got Disney + and it has Marvel’s Spider-Man as one of its shows. I’ve been watching it knowing that many people aren’t fond of it but I wanted to see for myself. I remember watching your first video about the show going over season one but I wanted to know people’s opinion on season 2. So I look it up and I see you upload a video on season 2 the same day I start watching. Funny how the world works.
Don’t watch season 3 actually don’t watch any cartoon marvel makes because they now have a venom obsessed thing going on which can be show by the guardians of the galaxy show and Spider-Man 2016 devoting a whole season to venom to the point where it didn’t make sense
Man I can’t lie it’s not one of my favorites. In all honesty it’s just bland compared to all the other Spider-Man cartoons. They also focus on venom and the other side characters more than Peter and when the do focus on him it doesn’t help since I dislike the personality he has in this show.

I still insist that the best Spider-Man cartoon we got this decade was Netflix’s Stretch Armstrong. Thank god for Into the Spider-Verse and PS4 Spidey for getting SOME good Spidey content in general.

The Anya costume is more in line with the comics, though I wish they had the first outfit to appear first before the black and white one.
You can tell nicktendo misses a lot of thing that are relevant to the Spider-Man lord in the video, such as not recognize the superior Spider-Man arc, or Anya and spider Gwen being long established characters, as well as a lot of Spider-Man villains just existing because they are just bad people who lucked out on tech or abilities
Something that really bugs me is that for the show's third and final season (which had a serious lacking finale, making it feel like a regular episode in my opinion) is that it's titled "Maximum Venom". Funny thing is, the symbiotes only appear in four episodes out of the season. It was mostly dedicated to the regular everyday villains that appeared in the show. So I'm just questioning, why was Venom in the season's title if he barley appeared in the season itself?
I have just finnisht season three on Disney plus, and While im not a huge fan of the choices they made, i gotta ask what do you mean “it was mostly dedicated to his everyday villans” every ark in that season had 1 or more simbiotes related in a key point of the plot, ark 1 had Peter get a presumally safe Simbiote but suffering counsekvencess fore it when Venom returns and gets stronger because of that suit, ark 2 used some episodes on setting op the simbiote invasion and Then going thoug With it, ark 3 had Norman return to full power using a simbiote and mixing it With other things to make it stronger and finally ark 4 had it be about the seamingly head simbiotes in that Series try to destroy the Earth. Yes there were other villans there, but it alwas involved a simbiote, that was why they calt it Maximum Venon.

@@Raoul9753 White people voicing a black cartoon character isn't intrinsically problematic, it's more about the fact that it's more likely for a white voice actor to voice a black character than a black voice actor to voice a white character. Also, most white comic book characters were just made white males because that was considered the "default" and them being white isn't an important part of their character like most black comic characters, who were nearly always made black as an conscious choice. Race swapping someone like Iron Fist, Captain America, or Batman, who have an actual reason to be white, is different than race swapping someone like Electro, Human Torch, or Deadshot, who don't change at all by changing their race.
Learn something then. Maybe catch a love for math, become finically literate, pick up a skill, etc. trust me. Way better than this shit show

So, am I, like... the ONLY person who really, really liked this show? It made a point to keep Peter active as a scientist, which is a major part of his character that is often glossed over in adaptations, it focused down on Spider-Man's lore and rogues gallery, as opposed to the last major show, which was all about as many crossovers as they could manage, while still being willing to put their personal spin on a lot of classic characters and stories.
I'm not really surprised to see this video. Most shows based around popular franchises will have at least one or two people offering very vocal criticism, either to bait views or because of genuine complaints. I was, however, extremely taken aback by the broad negativity in the comments. I think the video was actually more forgiving, which is disconcerting since it outright calls it the worst modern Spider-Man cartoon.
I don't know. Maybe I'm biased. Spider-Man was a huge influence on me growing up, and remains my favorite superhero by an incredibly wide margin, and this felt like a lot of care went into going back to the roots. It's just disappointing to think that something I enjoyed so much is seen so poorly by a majority of fans.

There are some Ant Man shorts (which has 1960s comic book style aesthetics) and some Rocket And Groot shorts (with CGI animation from a French studio). There are also a good number of Marvel Superhero Adventures shorts animated by Atomic Cartoons (though those are aimed at the Disney Junior target demographic).

@@thetoongrump9801 Well, you can't go wrong with Titmouse action shows. They worked on Megas XLR, Motorcity, Niko And The Sword Of Light, and Mao Mao Heroes Of Pure Heart. It also some storyboard artists and directors from Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Big Hero 6 The Series, and Glitch Techs, which all have fluid action. Also, Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur is animated by Disney Television Animation, being the first after Big Hero 6 The Series. It has the potential to look great.

They're pretty rarely an important part of the character (and usually characters where they're important aren't changed) and most of the times characters were made white males was because that was considered to be the "default". Electro isn't really a character like Iron Man, Captain America, Batman, etc. where changing his race and gender would fundamentally change the character.

Sometimes their hair color is changed. Race and gender (though changing gender honestly is usually a bigger change) aren't much more of a change than those. Electro is always in a full costume with a mask covering almost his entire face (which tbf, they lazily didn't even do), so his race is even less of a part of his look. Electro in particular has had so many interpretations, there is no concrete look for him. Sometimes he's a guy in a yellow and green suit with a lightning bolt star mask. Sometimes he's made of pure electricity. Sometimes he has no mask and instead has a lightning bolt star scar on his face.

What baffles me most is that I as an artist myself follow so many of the storyboard artists and the way they animate in their personal work is always done beautifully. Even their spidy fanart they post time to time in the artstyle of the show is so well and beautifully done! And then in the show the artstyle looks disappointing and bland. What you told about a outhouse company animating the show explains so much now. I really suggest looking up the storyboard artists that worked on the show since they are very amazing animators! I only watched this series because they worked on this and it's indeed disappointing to see it exucuted by a lesser company ;00
This is honestly one of the most ugly and cheap looking modern cartoons I've seen in recent times.
While it is definitely possible to make an animated show look stunning with a simple art style, this show does it all wrong. The background is so drab and meaningless, and actually kind of clashes with the characters. As for the characters they look so bare bones and lifeless. Nearly absent of any unique or diverse artstyle. Plain and flat. The designs for some of the characters look like they were made just to sell overpriced toys that will be left forgotten at the back of a shelf in Walmart. No love, no care. The outfits could be designed by an 8 year old and look better. At least if that were to happen they'd look interesting. The animation could be more fluid and dynamic but honestly not every show reaches a great standard so it's somewhat passable.
I could talk about the dialogue, plot, and editing but that's what this dude's video is for, and he does a great job at that.
But anyways, seeing the art quality of this show frustrates me. One of the greatest things about animation is that it can show reality in a more dynamic and colorful lens. You can show the impossible, portray details and emotions you might not catch in real life, and most importantly inspire the viewer. Plenty of recent shows have been top tier in nearly every aspect: Ducktales, Infinity Train, Amphibia, The Owl House, I recently watched Hilda and loved it, and I'm sure there's more that I can't think of at the moment.
It's just that one day when I have kids I hope these big TV channels, or I guess streaming services, have quality cartoons for my kids to watch. Or for me to watch, cartoons can be for all ages. I'm still an adult youngin so still a couple of years away till that happens.

I feel electro's design is prolly my fav of this show. it's a really nice update. the only problem I have is the suit colors. like... it feels a bit too drab I guess? There is actually a Sandgirl (who showed up in Sandman's debut episode) and a female Electro in the comics, but they were changed up in the show (such as how they're both closer to Peter's age rather than younger and older respectively, and with Sandgirl being more smug and Electro being made black) .

One of the main things that made spiderman so appealing was that he did his job solo with no assistance, look at how he handles villains in spectacular spiderman and then compare it with this.
In spectacular spiderman he took down villans by himself, he even took down the sinister 6 by himself twice. In ultimate or in this show he's either getting his ass beat or he gets help from his spider buddies or the avengers. Wtf happend? I agree. The electro that is shown in Spider-man 2017 is Francine Frye which is different from the electro we all know who is known to be Max Dillon. The writers failed to differentiate between these two electros. If I were the writer I would have either stuck to Max Dillon's electro or make Francine Frye's Electro into a completely different villain instead.

When DC needed a female super villain, they created Harley Quinn, when they needed to introduce people to a black character, they gave us Static.... there are plenty of characters that are already female and black that are being forgotten... use those... the MCU is built off of characters we didn't know well...
1. DC didn't create Static, and even then, he's almost never been used outside of a few comic runs and a short-lived, underrated cartoon (and Young Justice, of course).
2. The MCU used lesser-known characters because they had no choice. If they had access to their more popular characters, they would've gotten the spotlight.
3. Completely original characters won't get as much attention for being non-white or female as genderswapping or raceswapping characters, and at the end of the day, it's all about attention. Comics are a dying industry and have been dominated by white males for decades, so Marvel and DC figure they can improve sales by getting more women and non-whites into comics.
4. Most white male characters were made white males because that was considered the "default" and their race or gender has no impact on their character, and changing their gender or race doesn't change anything about the spirit of that character. Electro isn't a character who has a justifiable reason for why his race or gender shouldn't be changed like Black Panther, Iron Man, Captain America, Luke Cage, or Iron Fist.

@@soapbiter36577 That's not really a Marvel thing. That's a general issue with comics and comic adaptations. The problem is, that's sadly how it works a lot of times. Also, it's kinda insulting that you consider that "piggybacking". It's a change in the mantle. Would you also consider Dick Grayson becoming Batman, Barry Allen or Wally West becoming the Flash, Hal Jordan becoming Green Lantern, or Bucky Barnes becoming Captain America the same way? This is done all the time and it generally works, with the successor sometimes becoming more popular, or at least establishing a cult following rivaling their predecessor. Most people prefer the Barry Allen Flash to Jay Garrick, a lot of people prefer Wally West over Barry Allen. Most people prefer Hal Jordan over Alan Scott. A good nonwhite example is John Stewart. He has become very popular and a lot of people grew up with him and prefer him as Green Lantern the same way someone might've grown up with Wally West or might have gotten into comics while Sam Wilson was Captain America or when Riri Williams was introduced.

I would rather see more of new characters, as well, but I have no problem with changing the race of white characters. There are already far more white characters than nonwhite because for decades, white characters have been seen as the "standard". The majority of the time, characters were made white just because (with a few exceptions, like Iron Fist, for example) and black characters were made specifically because they wanted to make a black character. I have absolutely no problem with it unless the character has a reason to be white and as long as it's written well. New 52 Wally West is a completely different character than the white Wally West and isn't just a "recoloring". They have the same name because the black version was meant to fill in the same role of Barry Allen's sidekick. Aside from that, they're completely different. Also, in the case of Black Panther, that movie was partially also successful because it featured a very well-established character who has been around for almost 60 years, had the backing of the most successful film franchise in history, and he had been introduced in and played a large role in an earlier film. I'm not arguing that original black characters won't sell, just that it's easier to do a race-swap or create a black successor for an older character, especially in a dying industry like comics, where new characters generally are hard to make successful.
When I first saw this show I thought, “Oh my, this is the ugliest group of frames I have ever seen in my entire life.” But then the show grabbed my heart strings and now I’m obsessed with it. Watching the show makes me forget that it’s produced by a multi billion dollar company, both a good and a bad thing.

Spectacular changed the race of some of the villains too (Fancy Dan and Roderick Kingsley are black, Ox and Molten man are Latino, Miles Warren is Indian etc.) it was to make NYC more diverse. That said they mainly changed races of minor characters (which...kind of made them stand out a bit as they were really nobodies before [if you seriously cared about Principal Davis race being changed you’re lying])
As for Kamala, she was a MAJOR HYPOCRITE in this show... we saw her doing the EXACT same geeking out with Avengers in their show... and with it supposedly being the same continuity it’s such a personality shift.

Dannin Matthews but then you have the problem of having a character who is basically an expy of another character. And that creates another problem. Kind of like how you can’t be mad at MJ in the MCU because TECHNICALLY she’s not Mary Jane Watson. No one cared about the Spectacular character changes as they changed MINOR characters. I remember me and my family getting to see a sneak peak of the show about 4 months before the show was supposed to air. It was the scene where peter was trying to fight off the symbiote in his room before being captured by the vulture. What we saw was the final product, as it looked exactly the same as what aired later. The showrunner walked up to us and asked what we thought about it. My mom said it didn't look finished and she hoped they could complete it in time. The showrunner went silent for a few seconds, thanked us for the feedback, and walked away. That's when we knew there was no hope for the show.
This is an amazing story. I would imagine tight deadlines were an issue as well. Your mom should be reviewing this show, not me.
@@NICKtendoReviews for some more information, it was at the D23 convention. There was a small panel at 1:00pm that had the voice cast of the guardians of the galaxy cartoon along with the showrunner. About 40 people including us were in the audience. We got to hear stories, learn that the third season of the gaurdians cartoon would tie into the new ride across the street in disneyland, and saw the unfinished scene.
The best part was the open discussion section. There were some real marvel super fans that knew more about the property than anyone on stage. I actually saw the showrunner taking notes. My favorite question was someone said that other people said that the new ride ruined the integrity of california adventure and one of the panelists said "what integrity?" We all had a chuckle on that one.

Used the very cheap way and watched the 3rd season basically on TH-cam since I was only interested cause they marketed Patrick Brown's promor art for it. I have to say the bits of exchanges between Moon Knight and Spider-Man feel pretty meaningful and the combat pacing with Moon Knight felt genuine from what you sort of showed a preview of after Ben's explanation.

That would be very cool, but seeing how the cops, the army, the government, and authority in general are glorified in the U.S., I highly doubt it would ever be made.
The closest thing to that would probably have to be those 2 or 3 comics in the Spider-Geddon storyline that focus on the Spider-Punk universe.
I hate to see the same style of animation in the current Marvel series, it seems that they do not put effort and also it is not good that all the series are connected to each other, it is somewhat confusing and the chronology does not make sense.

I think the reveal that the Vulture is the mastermind behind the Goblin Nation is one of the worst things out of this series. At first I expected Norman Osborn because you know his green goblin like armor but that twist just made me hate this series even more.
Hopefully when Norman comes back he'll look and act like the classic Green Goblin and not the Doctor Doomlins

All right, I get it! The animation is bad, we all get it already! Your right. The animation is admittedly lazy, but, in my own humble opinion, the no-shading and simplistic character designs are supposed to make the animation more fluid. And by the way, just because this show may not live up to your expectations and while it may have bad animation and poorly time jokes and overly use the one-time villain trope, there have been some dramatic and emotional moments in this show. Some are humble, too! This Spider-Man show may not be your favorite, but remember that this is an unique (albeit bad) take on Spider-Man, and this is what the creators want to do. Criticize this show all you want, but it won't cancel the show or improve it. Seriously, it's already been years, so just get over it! Also, just be glad that the Rhino is coming back!
Did you skip over the parts where I praised some of the emotional moments and tried to provide justification for why the animation turned out the way it was instead of mindlessly complaining about it. If you enjoy the show, more power to you. Just don’t criticize someone who takes reasonable issue with it.

Mate, when anime like Mob Psycho, while still have a bit more simplistic design than most anime, can have absolutely mind blowing dynamic action animation with have interesting design and full shading, your argument just falls flat on its face!

Some are disliked so much to the point of not watching.but hear me out.the 2017 series may have flaws
And you may not like the show but if it gets kids into the character then I don't see why this show doesn't have a chance anyway.every spiderman show has its own art to symbolise the tone of the series and in season 3 the art and fight scenes have been upgraded and heavily modified. Some of the episodes of maximum venom (look before you start throwing pitchforks hear me out )even surpassed spectacular spiderman . The plots have been well thought out and we'll I just hope you give this TV show a time to shine nick ten do . So I'm giving 2017 spiderman season 1 a 3 out of ten. Bad

5:41 I did read what you wrote there, but I have to politely disagree. Changing who a character is can be a big betrayal to the fans who know how that character should be. I know that calling this series an AU does help, but I’m more concerned over why they keep doing this same change to various media, and change guys to girls so often. Spider-Man has plenty of female villains in the comics, right? Even if they’re less well-known, they’d be a better choice to maintain the consistency of character portrayals across mediums and series of Spider-Man media, while making big changes like this is more like ‘What if so and so got Electro’s powers instead of Electro?’ The more and more one changes the character, the less and less the character they’ve changed is the character they started out with. I’d just like them to clarify that it’s just they’re own character for this show, and not something they plan on pushing forward everywhere else.
Well, to be fair that's kinda Marvel's thing in general. Over the years we had dozens of different interpretations for pretty much all notable characters, electro included, I don't see why it should become a problem now.
