    When using a Chicago bender or sidewinder and you’re doing a 3 point what changes with the marks? For instance with 90’s or offsets you just put the mark with edge of the shoe, do you still use the edge of the shoe for 3 point saddles?

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great Question... and I apologize for not seeing it in time. I don't know why sometimes i don't get these comments. Anyhow to answer your question.
      Chicago and Sidewinder 3 point saddles.
      i was going to try and explain it here but it would take too long. You have to use center of bend to do saddles on those benders. There are 2 methods. 1 use center line radius measuerement so you can line up your marks on the front of shoe or hook. 2 you find the center of bends you will use for saddle and mark it on bender and use those marks to bend saddle and not the shoe or hook. I have a video where i touch on this i just can't remember which one. I'm sure its a video where i use the sidewinder.

    Can you use the push through method for all 3 configurations of a 3-point saddle?

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you can't. But this link will take you 2 the second push thru. I have 2 out of 3. You can how ever do a push thru of this video by finding the centers of 11 degrees and 22.5 degrees and charting your bender then you can bend it by pushing through. As of now that's the only way I know how.

    • @robbysanchez6514
      @robbysanchez6514 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does the multiplier 5 work for all size pipes such as 1/2 - 1 1/4? for small obstructions?

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending

      Yes the multiplier stays the same for every size conduit. The multiplier only changes depending on the degree you are bending. Hope this helps.

      @@TheArtOfConduitBending how did you come up with the mulitplier? for distance of outer bends?

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mikeruano4858 I didn't come up with it my brother. It's trigonometry. For 3 point saddles we use the degrees on the outer bends to come up with the calculation. Simply put just like offsets we use the cosecant. So for 11 degrees the cosecant is something like 5.24 round it to a multiplier of 5. Done ✅

    I Thought You Said 3/16" Shrinkage Per Inch For 22 1/2° ? You Now Say 2" Rise Would Be 3/16" And 4" Rise Would Be 3/8". Why Sir. Please Help Me. I Am Confused Now.

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What I said was. It's 3/16" shrink for every 2" of rise. Why? Because that's what the shrink is for 11 degree saddles. That's all you have to remember.

  • @stevenprebeg
    @stevenprebeg ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I appreciate these vids a lot … I gotta say tho .. it’s confusing when some ppl say different things .. throws me off … I saw a vid where another guy said the shrink on a 3-point saddle was 3/16” for every inch of rise and now this guys is saying it’s 3/16” for every 2 inches of rise .. which is it ? Lol. Thanks for the help !

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve it's like offsets it all depends on the degree of bend you are using. For a regular 22.5-45-22.5 saddle yes it's 3/16" for every inch rise. For this method on this video which is 11-22-11 it's the shrink is so minute that it has to be 3/16" for every 2 inches. There are so many different types of saddles that you can bend to different degrees. Don't forget that the degrees is what you use to you and out how much it will shrink.

    • @stevenprebeg
      @stevenprebeg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheArtOfConduitBending ok, thank you! And if the rise on an 11-22-22 is 1.5 inches and not quite 2, then we just don’t worry about the shrink then ? Thanks !

  • @nicholasschmidt3856
    @nicholasschmidt3856 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey so why did you do a multiplier of 5 with the 22.5 degree center bend shouldn’t it be a multiplier of 2.6 and a shrink of 3/16 per inch

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      no 2.6 is for 45 degree. I'm doing 22.5 center bend and 11 on the sides. Thats why this is called the half method.

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 5 inches Is my spacing calculation for my 2 side bends. Because my obstruction is 1 inch and my multiplier is 5 for this type of 3 point saddle. So 1 inch x 5= 5 inches. So from my center mark i measure and mark 5 inches from my center mark on both sides of the center mark and that will be the 2 bends I do with the arrow. Hope this helps. I don't go into too much detail on how to do the 3 point saddle because I have a video explaining in detail how to actually do a 3 point saddle bend. This is more to show you the formula of a different type of saddle. Thanks for the comment.
