    You need a preservative if you are adding water. The vitaminE just helps the oils not oxidize, it does not stop bacteria from growing.

      I do hear what you’re saying for sure Holly. I’ve never had an issue with anything personally, but yes…. that is absolutely great information… Thank you!!! 🥰

      What’s the preservative you should use

    • @nanatheglamgardener
      @nanatheglamgardener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cathy!!! The vitamin E is a soft natural preserve. But I always put all my jars in the fridge except the one I’m using. The refrigeration keeps them fresh 😊. And the jar you’re using, I keep it in a dark cupboard 😊. Thank you for watching Cathy 🥰

      @@cathypayton4804 Vitamin E is NOT a preservative at all. It’s an antioxidant that will help prevent oils from going rancid. It does NOTHING to inhibit microbial growth in products containing water. I’m a nurse and have seen nasty infections because people were misinformed about Vit E being a preservative. I’m also a certified aromatherapist, and we will use vitamin to help keep oils from oxidizing and becoming harmful. Optiphen and liquid germell are preservatives

      I agree with the suggestion of using a preservative thats natural, liquid germal plus would have been good!
      I tried making one without preservative and it went mouldy in tropical weather.
      I love your smiles!

    Looks amazing - I'm going to try this cream.
    I've made creams before and never used preservative & had no issues with mould or bacteria so im not worried about the comments on preservatives - I think I use my cream before this becomes an issue.
    Thanks so much

      Hi Maria. It’s preserved with Vitamin E Oil . Also, any leftover cream not being used, I do put it in the fridge where it keeps very well. I apologize if I didn’t mention the vitamin E in the video!!! I try to cover everything for you 😊. Thank you for your comment. It’s very helpful to others. Have a great day Maria 😊

      Hi KAstar. Hawthorn berries are a great medicinal berry. Known for huge benefits for the heart. I personally make a tea from the berries. Dry them and steep them as a tea. Great question… Thank you for watching 😊

    Looks amazing, my son and husband both have bad skin.
    I made large batch of Calendula and Burdock root oil. Is it necessary to refridgerate the left over oil or can it stay on the shelf since it has been fusing on the shelf for the last few months? Also, do you think it would be ok to add lavender to help with the scent?
    Thank you so much for this amazing recipe. I can not wait to make it!❤

    • @nanatheglamgardener
      @nanatheglamgardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Veronica 😊. I always keep a couple of jars out for my use, and I put the rest in the fridge until I need it. Research shows that it’ll last for appx a year if an oil , but I refrigerate what I’m not using to keep it as fresh as I can. If you don’t have room in your fridge- maybe tuck it away in a cool area such as basement or closet? A dark place is always good as light can break down the oils. Lavender would be such a great addition to your oil!!! Just a caution to not add too much- essential oils are extremely potent and easy to overdo as they smell amazing. Usually a few drops in a small cosmetic size jar will be enough. I absolutely love Calendula Veronica. Sooo amazing for skin 😊. Thank you for watching and enjoy your weekend 🥰

    Could I use Watered Aloe in plce of just water? Or a flower hydrosol?

    • @nanatheglamgardener
      @nanatheglamgardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rena!! I think in this case I’d use just the water so it has most of the saturation with the Calendula😊. It’s the Calendula that has the most beautiful benefit for eczema. However, that would be lovely if you’re not creating it for eczema, but for a nighttime moisturizer. That’s such a great question…. thank you for asking. 😊. It gives viewers another option for skincare ideas. Hope you’re enjoying your day Rena 🥰

      Hi Karen. The vitamin E acts as a natural preservative. I do keep my extras in the fridge however. I take out one at a time. This ensures that they keep fresh. I also don’t double the batches - I only do small batches. Thank you for watching Karen!!! I hope you enjoy your day 🥰

    I followed recipe and video and had water seepage in my cream. (Like the buttwrmilk left when making butter from cream) What did i do wrong? Can anyone help?

    • @nanatheglamgardener
      @nanatheglamgardener  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Pompey. You likely beat it a little too long and it started to separate. All is not lot though. Put it in the fridge and let it cool overnight. In the morning gently mix the “buttermilk “ into the cream “. or…. strain the buttermilk out and use the cream that’s left. No worries though… good for you for making it, and a great learning lesson for next time- mix it less👍. Great job Pompey!!! This is still useable and you’ll only get better with time 🥰

    😮 Beautiful ingredients but please do your research before recreating this because you DEFINITELY need a preservative the moment the water was introduced! Vitamin E is NOT a preservative! It is an antioxidant that helps slow down the rancidity of the oils only but it doesn’t stop the bacteria growing.
    This has natural herbs that have been infused in oil and beeswax. Which is great! However it is a breeding ground for mold, germs and bacteria when the water was added due to the natural ingredients. Product contains nothing to prevent growth or any stability from the “emulsion”. This is not a safe scientific formula to use within 24 hours or less! I hope this isn’t taken negatively but a teachable moment for all interested.

      @nanatheglamgardener  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nanatheglamgardener Geogard ECT is great one. However it does have a slight almond scent.
      Some others to look at is Optiphen BSB- W which is EcoCert, Cosmos, Natrue and BDIH compliant. Euxyl preservatives from Lotion Crafter’s, and I personally like Optiphen and Euxyl PE 9010 as well. I would recommend additional research to see what fits for you. I hope this helps, I appreciate you understanding it wasn’t out of judgement or shade! 🤗❤
