Those two old bottles sitting on the wall - the one bottle you knew was a Coke, the other was an old Dr. Pepper. (The Dr. Pepper slogan stated that 10, 2 & 4 were the perfect times to enjoy a Dr. Pepper soft drink), and the 10 & 2 were visible on that bottle you showed us.

Been watching these vlogs since I was laid up last year waiting for my hip replacement, that was done last August and is fine now but the other hip is now playing up. luckily am now retired so don,t have to worry about work. Would like to say how much I am enjoying this travelogue of mainly small town USA, places most tourists would never see, also with living in the UK how much in common we have. Hope you can visit Britain some time in the future (we have many interesting places I live not far from Nottingham Castle and only 1.1/2miles from the location used for Batmans family home. Carry on Adam youre very entertaining and the Carpetbagger and you are a great double act!

I think I have mentioned before - there is a cave in Alabama - a bit north of Birmingham that Al Capone was known to have visited during Prohibition - Bangor Cave is one of the forgotten places - I have been in it - it was before the club era I think they use to hold movies in it and the families that had come to the Resort that was famous for it's mineral springs - then it became a little hidden club - you could still see the wall around the area the orchestra use to play behind and if you made your way over to the next room you could see part of the teller's cage - I am guessing for gambling - they had an escape exit in the back - made it there once or twice - you could still see the metal slide they loaded supplies down - they got from the train that was close to that area I guess - - I have also been to the sulfur springs in that area and you can still see the wells they build around some of them - the current owner of the cave land put up no trespassing signs up in recent years but the springs are not in that area - a beautiful old home - perhaps has been mentioned slave quarters --- along the way and a very well known and loved BBQ place so cool inside --- all your favorite things - but yeah Al was in our area too

I have to admit that I got a little spooked when you approached Al Capone's suite and all of a sudden a noise came from what seemed like inside the room. It's unbelievable how much gangster history comes from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Seems so unlikely but quite fascinating once the history is revealed.

Capones club was the Southern Club directly across from the Arlington. It is now the wax museum complete with statue of Al and several original items from the club. There is also a hidden tunnel connecting the Arlington with the Southern Club so he didnt have to be seen on the street as he and the owner of the Ohio club were enemies.

Hey adam, its travis again. Last night was very bad for me. I figured it would be nice to go see a movie, and on the way there i had another episode and had to go straight to the hospital. I really thought that this was it. But once i got there i seemed to calm down. I got a couple x-rays. And they said i was ok. I really don't understand. And on the way back home i had another attack and had to stop and breathe. Now i can barely do anything. I cant even get up and go to the restroom, its that bad. But i tell you what. When i woke up this morning and found your video, it cheered me right up. Anyway I appreciate all the support. Have a good day adam. Ill try my best to as well.

It's sad to see the ruins of the Majestic Hotel. You should have seen the additions of the Lanai Suites (1958) and the Lanai Towers (1963). In the hotel lobby, there was a photo of the cast of "The Beverly Hillbillies," from their visit there in the early 1960's. There was also a soda shop/ice cream shop just off the lobby. I have such great memories of the Majestic.

The Majestic property was originally the site of the Hiram Whittington House in 1870. The Avenue Hotel was the first name given to the hotel, built in 1882, featuring an electric dining room and gas powered guest rooms. Street cars arrived and departed every five minutes to transport guests to and from the bath houses.
She was renamed the Majestic Hotel in 1888 and was named after the Majestic Stove Company although no one really knows why. Perhaps someone there had interest in the company or just simply liked the name. The newly named hotel featured a brand new invention, the elevator.
