    WOW! Thank you for this gluten free and soy free option! I'm not sensitive to either but I've been searching for a method that doesn't use seitan since I haven't quite gotten it right, and I'm not big on too much soy. This is a genius recipe. Thank you!

      Thanks so much. I am experimenting with some chick-un and bac-un recipes with the same type of ingredients this summer. Hoping to find the right mix. Hope you enjoy.

    What can be used instead of jackfruit

    • @amandagiese9218
      @amandagiese9218 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      More chickpeas, or mushrooms, maybe beans? Those are what come to mind anyway. You'd have to experiment in small batches but it's worth a shot. My go too for possible substitutes is to see if there are already similar recipies with those ingredients and look at the ratios in those recipies before trying it in the recipie you want. Often times I combine several recipies. Just make sure you write down what you try so you don't get it perfect, then not remember how much/what you added 😂 cuz I've been there, and it is super frustrating haha

    • @VeganAlohaKitchen

      Sure. Mushrooms would make great addition. I would just make sure to press out the liquid before blending or adjust and add more dry ingredients based on how many you put in.

    Can I replace the konjac with psyllium husk?????? Thanks in advance

    • @VeganAlohaKitchen
      @VeganAlohaKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In not sure I just read that phyllum husk is only stable up to 175 degrees . But I have never used that product so can't be sure of the result. Let me know how it goes if you try it.

      you could use heart of palm or chickpeas. I have also wondered if texturized soy shreds would work. If you try one of those let me know.

      It freezes well for months . In the fridge it keeps it freshness for about 3 weeks. It still taste great after freezing though so that would my recommendation.

    5lbs of pea protein is $55.00!!! 1lb (16 0unces) of pea protein is $15.00. This recipe calls for 2 cups (the entire 1 lb tub / 16 ounces) of pea protein. That's $15.00 for the pea protein alone in this recipe! Ouch! The recipe is gorgeous... but there are a lot of other ingredients as well that must be ordered online or purchased in specialty stores. This small roast ends up being pretty spendy. Is there any way to make this roast for less? Can the pea protein be subbed for pea flour for example? Thank you for sharing!

      @@VeganAlohaKitchen You actually posted the link to the 16 ounce (2 cup) protein I buy. So....if your recipe calls for 2 cups that IS the entire cannister in this recipe.

    Suggestion for konjac replacements? Not a fan of it clumping up in your digestive system.

    • @VeganAlohaKitchen
      @VeganAlohaKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used methlycous not sure if that is better for you it has a lot of fiber as well. Those are the only two that I know of that will harden when baked. Everything else loses it firmness after 170° if you can do gluten the wheat gluten is your best option. Otherwise those two are the only thing I found to make a firm plant-based meat.

      2 cups of firm tofu (sub for a can of chickpeas if soy free). I typically add subs for ingredients in the written recipe. My go to is always subbing either white beans or chickpeas for tofu in soy free recipes. Hope this helps :)
