After so many try of everything, I finally found a fix that worked perfectly for me! Which is turning off the MULTITHREADING ( OR HYPERTHREADING) option. The "Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT)" option in the UEFI settings is the same as Hyper-Threading on Intel processors. To disable Hyper-Threading (SMT), you need to access the UEFI settings by holding power and volume up for 10 seconds when starting the laptop. 1. Toggle the switch next to "Enable SMT" to the **Off** position. 2. After disabling it, make sure to save your changes and exit the UEFI settings. This is typically done by selecting "Exit" and confirming that you want to save the changes. Once you’ve completed these steps, Hyper-Threading will be disabled on your Surface Pro. This instant fixed the flickering for me
I have a surface pro 4 since 2016 or so. It initially does not suffer from any flicker whatsoever. But around early 2017, I noticed that the screen flickers whenever I used it for an extended period of time. Recently, I installed intel xtreme tuning utility and I decidied to downvolt the cpu by 0.050 V (mind you, I'm using a i5 version). And so far, I was able to use my surface for extended periods of time; even for gaming. I hope this comment can be useful for some
Disabling the touch screen interface on my SP4 had greatly helped with the flickering (for now). This might not work for everyone but it's worth a try if you can live without the touch screen feature. Lowering brightness may help too but may also be a placebo. Otherwise use an external monitor. Control Panel > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > right click on "HID-compliant touch screen" and select Disable device. Repeat for all "HID-compliant touch screen" devices.

Microsoft changed for LG display model on SP5 which does not have this bug. However, to make this replacement is necessary to change the display's flex cable too.

It did not work for me, but i figured out it has something to do with the charging cable. While it is plugged in, the flickering appears. If it is not, it disappears. I hope you find this helpful and find a solution. ~
yeah the symptoms are the same, it flickers when we put a charging cable and do some heavy work over it. like gaming or data crunching. I am doing the latter and it will flicker out crazy on me.
I do believe it's also a overheating issue. I mean why else would someone put it in the freezer. i sometimes put my surface right next to the window to try to cool it down, helps a little
This isn't a solution, resetting the device and running the most recent drivers and the issue still persists, and even exists while the device is booting and in the UEFI menu. It's a hardware issue.
I am so sorry this is still existing. The flickering issue was recent driver for some and then hardware issues for some. I do have some idea haha, but you are right I haven't experienced the flickering at the UEFI and booting menu. That is a hardware issue. But for the some that it was a driver issue, this made it so that they wouldn't freeze their surface. And it has worked for quite a few people. For the people who need a hardware issue fix, I made a Part II youtube video th-cam.com/video/wY19koCyw3c/w-d-xo.html in which I describe how you can get your surface replaced with a refurbish version for free.
Ive only had my surface pro 4 for 1 month and ive constantly had this issue (my dad gave it to me cuz the waranty was gone and his work place put it in disposal) I tried this and I still notice flickering
I know this vid goes back a bit. I have a SP4 that flickers, but I see i have the Intel(R) Iris(R) Graphics 540 driver; Not the 515. Just wondering if folks are still having success with this driver update before I proceed. Thanks
Thanks for the tips. Mine never reverted to the generic MS driver after following your steps removing the old driver at the beginning. I had to go to Intel's site and download the driver there. I also used the Intel's support assistant and had it scan my device so it selected the best driver to install instead of guessing which of the 4 different drivers on the website. I still had flickering rebooting after the update, so I powered down my device and powered it back up and no more flickering. Windows update sucks. I think MS likes to do this on purpose so that you have to go buy a new machine. Now only if I can figure out how to get my machine to boot normally. For some reason it stuck in selective start up.
Flickering continioue with the MS basic drivers. IT is not working. I thing something is fishy about software but the solition of yours is not working with this machine which is Surface pro4 and the driver was intel 520.

its seems the issue was Auto-update. I have downloaded the update manually and reinstall = issue fixed..One X however still wont connect over wired connection to Windows live which makes no sense. The band 2 went into trash after the sides broke off, windows phone collects dust in the drawer...ahem.
Hello please I uninstal Intel 515 graphics but I could not download it please cuz I am fraid some website gives download not free with some offer please could you send me link to download it free I have Surface pro
Yeah didn't work for me. Turned out the little fan in the top left had stopped working causing screen flicker as the screen and system overheated. The fan itself (exact model with 12 digit MS SKU number on box) is £3.99 UK or under $5 US But to replace it you have to disassemble the whole device. Heat-gun the screen off, take out about 30 screws undo ribbon cables, remove drives and then glue the screen back in and all that. Well beyond my ability. So I rang the dealership to see how much they would charge for replacing this $5 fan It was £300 (about $350 US) So I threw it in the bin. Won't be buying another MS device.

How long do I have to wait from restarting from UEFI. It's taking forever 😢
For me, i didnt uninstall the driver but updated it. Worked for me
Thanks .. I'm going to attempt this on my friend's Surface Pro 4 and will return with feedback.
how did it go?
Today I use my surface pro for presentation and so far no flickering after one hour
Do you still have the flickering issue?
@@Axel-qm3fk I have this issue on my computer.
Will this delete anything off of your computer?
How do I REINSTALL display adapters now?
I cannot change the luminosity of my screen.
I've been trying to fix this for hours now.
Myriam Monastero just restart your pc or download from link

This is my biggest regret yet. My surface pro 4 what a complete joke.
Worked perfectly. Thank you! 👊
Unfortunately it is a hw issue that worsens overtime and with temperature
did you do what he said and did it not work?
This is real true. You are clever not like the youtuber of this video. All Surfaces have so many hardware problems. I have 2 Surfaces and they both have FATAL BLACK SCREEN of DEATH.
This appears to have worked! Thus far I am very happy. Thank you so much. If it starts flickering again I will not be happy and will take back my thanks and a pox upon you sir! 😉
Will doing this reset delete files from my computer?
It did not work for me, but i figured out it has something to do with the charging cable. While it is plugged in, the flickering appears. If it is not, it disappears.
I hope you find this helpful and find a solution.
~
Sorry to hear it. I did some research and it might be due to the heat it produces when charging. Ill keep trying to find one
yeah the symptoms are the same, it flickers when we put a charging cable and do some heavy work over it. like gaming or data crunching. I am doing the latter and it will flicker out crazy on me.
Thank you sir, I am worried because it costed me arms and legs.
I do believe it's also a overheating issue. I mean why else would someone put it in the freezer. i sometimes put my surface right next to the window to try to cool it down, helps a little
I found a semi solution. Microsoft is now issuing replacements. I made a video about it. Check it out here th-cam.com/video/wY19koCyw3c/w-d-xo.html
😢didn’t work mine is flickering even more now help 😢!!!
Thanks a lot!! Thats the only think which worked with my Surface Book 2!!:)
What, no, surface book 2 has the same problem?? I was going to replace my pro4 with that :(
@@CompanionRohaa unfortunately yes and the problem ocurred again - so I dont have a solution to solve the problem for good ._.
@@JohannesC-c8e thanks for preventing a problematic buy then! Does anyone know if surface book 3 has it too?
This isn't a solution, resetting the device and running the most recent drivers and the issue still persists, and even exists while the device is booting and in the UEFI menu. It's a hardware issue.
thatOne yep, this guy has no idea. Surely he has never experienced the issue himself.
Microsoft diagnostic app fixed it for me. I got it from Microsoft support
Do you know which part of the hardware is responsible for the issue?
@@bernardomondragonbrozon5182 it's the Samsung screen. It needs to be replaced with the Surface Pro 5 LG screen and digitizer.
I tried to uninstall the Intel display several times and it won’t uninstall. Any suggestions?
Ive only had my surface pro 4 for 1 month and ive constantly had this issue (my dad gave it to me cuz the waranty was gone and his work place put it in disposal) I tried this and I still notice flickering
I did everything ... Its still freakin flickering.....
Same here
Kinda sucks, but some of the time screen flickering is so serious that it can’t be stopped by any of these methods.
Heat sink is probably dead
I know this vid goes back a bit. I have a SP4 that flickers, but I see i have the Intel(R) Iris(R) Graphics 540 driver; Not the 515. Just wondering if folks are still having success with this driver update before I proceed. Thanks
Good question I'm thinking the same?
It still failed 🤦🏿♂️
Is the flickering problem still fixed?
@@doro626 i dont think so...
Flickering continioue with the MS basic drivers. IT is not working. I thing something is fishy about software but the solition of yours is not working with this machine which is Surface pro4 and the driver was intel 520.
Hi guys ! I tried your solution and it worked for 24 hours. But I've never seen the Microsoft graphic card when I deleted the intel graphic. Do you know why ? Please help me Thanks a lot
Bro it worked after a couple times.....Hopefully it stays fixed I upvoted thanks again
Worked perfectly well for me! Thank you so much
is the problem still fixed?
It made my flickering even worse!
Why not download the Intel 515 driver from the beginning
Mine becones blury like im cross-eyed.. It seems to show when the system heats up. Shutting it down for 5min resolves the problem. Regretable purchase, same with windows phone, same with band 2, same with One X which can not cinnect to Live when wired.. After Gates the company became shit...
its seems the issue was Auto-update. I have downloaded the update manually and reinstall = issue fixed..One X however still wont connect over wired connection to Windows live which makes no sense. The band 2 went into trash after the sides broke off, windows phone collects dust in the drawer...ahem.
savcob how did you install manually?
Hello please I uninstal Intel 515 graphics but I could not download it please cuz I am fraid some website gives download not free with some offer please could you send me link to download it free I have Surface pro
Didnt help at all :/
I got the Intel 520 and it doesn't work maybe it's a hardware problem
When I press right click it doesn’t come up with uninstall it says just properties
Can you help me it only says properties when i right click please help me :(
Yeah didn't work for me. Turned out the little fan in the top left had stopped working causing screen flicker as the screen and system overheated. The fan itself (exact model with 12 digit MS SKU number on box) is £3.99 UK or under $5 US
But to replace it you have to disassemble the whole device. Heat-gun the screen off, take out about 30 screws undo ribbon cables, remove drives and then glue the screen back in and all that.
Well beyond my ability.
So I rang the dealership to see how much they would charge for replacing this $5 fan
It was £300 (about $350 US)
So I threw it in the bin. Won't be buying another MS device.
It's not install hd graphics 515 but Iris graphics 540... It's ok?
Does this work with a surface pro 7?
My screen started flickering since the warranty ends
Same I had 2 and like weeks after the warranty ended it started in both
This is how Microsoft make money through hardware support😂
Same
Yep! Warranty ended feb 13. Screen started flickering mid March.
Same, 3 months after the warranty ended the screen started flickering
I followed these steps and my screen is flickering still
Same, it's maybe due to samsung display, all the LG display models work perfect, just not ours 😢
I had intel HD graphics 520 and I tried doing this and it didn’t work
