    Just wanted to add my opinion, the rider isn’t too big for the horse, he wasn’t pulling back on the reins, he mounted like you would mount a well schooled horse. Not for starting one. It’s never the horses fault. He did something the horse didn’t like so it reacted. You have to start with groundwork and have a solid foundation before mounting or this is what happens.

      I don't know how to properly explain ground work with typing, but I do know how to explain getting the horse to calm down, what I do, is learn the horses limits, then I go by saying "quiet rider- loud/wild horse and loud rider- quiet/calm horse" so, I'm pretty wild around my horse, like I don't worry abt being quiet, I jump around and just don't filter myself, it has worked on the many horses I work with, my dad once had a horse that was super crazy and you couldn't do anything on him, then I was super bouncy/loud/annoying around him and now my 4 and 5 year old sisters ride him as one of the "child broke horses" so just mainly be loud around the horse and push their limits a little bit, but don't like hit them or anything, but just be loud and crazy, I hope that made sense cuz I'm rly bad at explaining things, or if you want you can message me on my Instagram "marie_photography1347"

  • @HumorousHearsay
    @HumorousHearsay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reading the comments made me feel good! Most people who have horses know this was all wrong. First, if you do the training properly before you even saddle the horse this is less likely to happen. Second, if you think for one second your horse will try and buck (which I assure you he knew he’d buck) stand up in the stirrups way slower to get him use to your weight. Then lay across the saddle adding weight to his back. This way if he does buck, you have an easy/quick way to get off. Usually if your horse is not going to buck , once you’ve done that, then you can slowly throw your leg over. He knew the horse was going to do this and that is why he tried to go too fast and get in the saddle before he started bucking. All I can hope is this guy learned from this and did it correctly the next time. What I pray didn’t happen(which I’ve seen too many times) is he beat the horse once he caught him and never changed his approach. He doesn’t deserve a horse if that was his actions once he caught him. This was 100% the riders fault! Oh, and he also doesn’t know how to build a round pen.

    Guys, this is called hard breaking. It’s how horses were trained during western colonization when horses needed to be trained quickly. You hop on and hold on until the horse chills. While not as common as it used to be, it is still a training method used by certain trainers. Not my vibe. This method is much more dangerous as can be seen. However, accidents like this as common as you think. This most likely happened due to the poor construction of the round pen.

I agree some things should’ve been done different, but I’ve seen horses that couldn’t be more perfect on the ground, but they went crazy under saddle. Sometimes, the only way to fix it is to be able to stay on and ride through it until the horse is finished, let it realize its shenanigans isn’t going to get them out of it.
