First of all. More stories about atv riders like this guy. Amazing story people like me crazy about atving every weekend. This is a great episode of dirt trax. Honda should give him a new Rubicon 700. Myself average about 2000km a year in Newfoundland. Don't ride every weekend but wish i could. Had a 2012 Yamaha kodiak 450eps. Put 18000km on it then upgraded to a 2019 Kodiak 450eps. It almost has 10000km on it. Maintenance is the key along with a durable machine.
I love my 2006 Honda rubicon 500 owned it since new and has been perfect never any issues. I don’t plan on selling that old work horse no way. Glad to see you keep your first machine. Honda number one for small engines in my eyes. 🍻
I know a buddy who bought a 2022 Honda rancher and already has 30,000 Kms on it he has done nothing but oil changes and air filters… still running brand new!!
Awesome!! I got a 2020 rancher 420 foot shift with 10k and no repairs needed. It just doesn’t break. Always ready to go. Hard to beat Hondas reliability
Great story! I agree with you on the reliability of honda 100 percent! I owned a few polaris sportsman 4 wheeler's, but got sick of the constant issues with them. So in 2003 when Honda came out with the first rincon i purchased one. 21 years later and 4300 miles it still runs and drives like new! I have been plowing my driveway and working up my 1 acre field and it has never let me down. I have never had to replace one thing on it, just maintenance items. Love the smaller size of it compared to the new 4 wheeler's now days, they are heavy and huge. Not the fastest or best riding machine out there but definitely the most reliable one.
My first ATV was a 1999 TRX 300, thing was “bullet proof” I now have ‘22 Rubicon DCT Deluxe love them both you can’t beat a Honda. I love this story also as I told my 16 yr old son the same thing buy new and he did. 6 months after I bought mine he got a foot shift Rubicon. 8k -kms and counting on his.
I LOVED your memories.. I remembered when I was young getting out firewood with my father and he said to me..get on the 3 wheels and don't let up on the gas. Then he transformed it into a 5 Articulated wheels..it was crimping ANYWHERE IT WAS NOT STOPPABLE even for a small 250 big red..MY LOVE FOREVER 😊
This is why I've always been such a Honda fan. They put such quality into everything they do. Coolest company on earth!! Been a fan since my first Honda 50cc at 7 years old. What ablast that thing was and endlessly reliable.
I remember seeing his Rincon years ago when it had under 100k I was amazed. I had a kawi that had 20,000kms and no one near me had that many on there bike. I had mine for 5 years averaged 4 thousand km a year. Too hear him say he put 10k on his first year is incredible. A true testimony to Honda and their responsibility.
Key factor is the MAINTENANCE , he's right I've owned over 20 different honda atv from foreman 450 400 500 rancher 350 and 420 and I can say they are durable and easy to work , they are the best
This is almost like a Honda commercial. I was just waiting for the end of this video for a prompt from Honda to come up and say: honda the power of dreams.. for whatever there slogan is this week. Really cool video though
Great video, I own a 2007 Rincon, used exclusively on my trapline in Northern Ontario. It's the best piece of machinery I have ever owned. I would purchase the new Rubicon 700 without any hesitation !!!
I absolutely love this episode. I own a 2003 Rincon with next to nothing with miles compared to this guy. It’s only at 3,700 miles but I absolutely love the machine. My dad owns a 2001 Rubicon that has been flawless and an absolute work machine. We also had a 1994 Honda Fourtrax that I rode the snot out of it and we regret getting rid of it to this day because it never quit. I have been critical of this new Rubicon 700 as Honda clearly didn’t do enough to change it but there’s no denying the reliability that this thing will have immediately. Love Hondas thru and thru.
I love seeing these videos, the Japanese OEMs just can’t be beat for reliability. Here in Newfoundland we’re seeing more and more of the older Japanese bikes going up for sale but not because they’re having issues, it’s because the owners have had them so long they get bored with them. I’ll never sell my 85 Big Red 250, I’ll keep it to the grave lol
This is pretty awesome! We miss our 420ES it was a great little bike. I doubt my Can-Am will ever see anything close to that but at least it works great now at 7000km lol
That is simply incredible but I am not the least bit surprised. This is why Honda is the best. My dad and other oil & gas guys here locally have similar experiences with Ranchers over the years, many of them with 30k+ hard miles on them.
I have a 2023 rubicon 520 foot shift and a 420 2013 foot shift for work and play on my homestead. In 2022 I tried a new kodiak 450. I hated it. Traded it for the 520. I really enjoyed this video. More please !!
My friend has been a certified Honda motorcycle and atv mechanic all his life. He has his own shop now and works on many farmer and rancher atvs that have been running for years. Soma held together in places with mechanics wire but they still running. They have tried others but always come back to Honda.
If I used my ATV as a car on logging roads, flat trails and smooth surfaces, sure; Rincon/new 700 is great for that. Where we ride, you need a low gear and diff lock...it's a necessity. I was genuinely excited when I heard Honda came out with a new 700 but saddened when I realized it was essentially a Rincon, which doesn't work for my style. I wish this gentleman many years of happy riding with his Rincon. Great video as always.
Always had a Honda, and then I switched to Yamaha. Now I’m replacing a front differential at 4500 km on a 2020 Kodiak. I love that bike but I still miss my Honda.
A rancher friend of mine has a 2017 rubicon with 44,000km on it. It’s been used hard and is tolerating it well. Lives a tough life caked in bc Fraser canyon interior mud.
A guy in NB just traded a 2022 Can Am Defender in at Green Diamond Powersports that had over 50,000km on it in three years. Before that he had a 2020 with 50,000 on it. That's 100,000km in 5 model years. Dirttrax should contact Green Diamond and do a show on the guy and his story.
That’s so crazy lol I had the Honda 350 growing up thing was unbreakable and I tried lol then brand new 04 Ricon and my buddy bought one same day we put 10k on them fast at 15-16 years old lol I beat the ever loving snot out of the ole rincon and she never let me know lol some of my wildest memories are with a rincon lol
I thought for sure it would be a farmer checking fences, but a trail rider, wow! Of course, its a Honda. I enjoy how the "new" Rincon 700 has the same engine as the 680! I perfer the older styling too, same ATV's as 2005, but 2x the price now, King Quad anyone?
Got a 24 can am renegade 1000 xmr and it has only 400 miles and I already had a coolant leak, blown rear differential, rear left axel gone, I don’t know if I’m riding it to hard or what I only taking it a little under the belt box deep and never got it stuck and haven’t even taking it to the governor
Being a Diesel-Guy I never had a 4-wheeler and am a "keeper" when it comes to my 27 year old Dodge Ram with a (little bit beefed up) 12 valve Cummins and no, I wouldn't swap it for a newer of those computerized pick ups since mine may already have more miles on it that the 24 valves and 6.7 liter Dodges may never reach and my truck never had any real repair done to it.
Im curous if that oil pressure gauge on the bars is because he had to replace the cam shaft at some point, also curious is he had any issues with losing reverse as those are 2 reletively common things to happen on those 680s. Never seen that high milage on a wheeler before, thats impressive
I own a 2024 rancher 420 bought at brand new last Halloween in the one year I owned it i put 21,000 I do nothing but abuse it and I keep up on oil changes. Only thing I had to do was replace front wheel bearings and rear bearings due to what I put it Through putting around to pulling logs for firewood to hundred kilometres doing 75KMH on the highway to driving it through rivers swamps over the 27 inch tires muffler under the water stuck for over an hour and a half I walked to get somebody to tow me and I come back muffler under the water start right back up no water in the air box because I took the time to seal it. I have towed multiple ATV 20 or 30 KM home t through rugged train though after hard ride after ride hundreds of hours of straight abuse on the rev limiter it don’t t smoke or burn oil even after thousand kilometres straight piped to glass pack exhaust with no tuner and it’s st still starts up second crank is gonna need a new top and soon but expected by the way I do I run Honda because capability reliability dependability
I'm questioning how many top end rebuilds this thing has had as every high mileage/high hour Honda quad I've seen is well & truly due for a top end rebuild by 25,000kms with plenty of blowby & loss of compression.
My Honda was great. An old(don’t remember the year” 4x4 300. Bought used and used it for 10 years and sold for what I paid. I do know that maintaining most any machine will prolong the life. Just sold an Arctic Cat that was almost 20 years old with no issues. Take care of anything and it’ll keep going strong.
I would also say it has a great deal to do with the pride. The owner takes in maintenance. I currently have the displeasure of owning a Honda Foreman 450 yes that was maintained by idiots, . It was a trade so I took it, unfortunately. I've had to replace just about everything aside the engine. I'm selling it as soon as deer season is over. But other than that always ride red. Honda makes the best. My moral of the story, is by relatively new machine, so expensive most of its life with you. That way you can take care of it properly not leave it to an idiot previous owner.
Do a cold & hot compression test & simply check for excessive blowby out of the crankcase oil filler even if it looks good on the outside. Ive seen low hour, dolled up machines that have had dusted, broken rings or worn out engines.
Mention the words unreliable and Honda in the same sentence just don’t even sound like English. I own a 94 Honda 300 that I’ve done nothing but normal maintenance like a few bearings, brakes, oil changes and I beat it to death every time I sit on it and it’s still going. You just can’t beat the pre 2000s Hondas.
I have had 2 TRX350s over the years, a rancher and looking for another one now. I have a sportsman and its not anywhere close to the solid feel of the Hondas. Dont need all the bells and whistles, just reliable and predictable.
any one own an 08 foreman high miler? I am doing the regular maintaenance on mine, it is footshift, what kind of miles can I expect to get? I dont beat on it.
I have a 2016 420 I find it has lots of power I put 28s on it and broke the front axles I don’t think I should be proud of that but whatever..It turns them well
Early to mid 2000's manual shift Honda ATV's are good, but there are far better options from another brand nowdays. Ask me how I know. I'd never go back to Honda now after owning a Honda TRX350FM for 20 years and using it daily, I know them well and remember clearly how basic, hard ride & lacking they are compared to 2022 & up ATV's, especially 6x6.
You can convert a bike to a three wheeler and or a four wheeler into a three wheeler bike. I always think of it as a bike because of the chain and belt drive
I’ve owned them all they are All junk except for my 2020 rubicon it’s got double the mikes on it every other manufacturer did before they had major breakdowns Hondas just been oil changes and air filters
Honda should give this guy one for his loyalty and his testimony 👍🏻👍🏻
Dayne and his Rincon are local legends!
These high mileage ATV videos are exactly what I like. Please do more of them.

When do you do your oil changes and other maintainence to make it last that long?
@thegromblerdiecast once or twice a year. Oil change every 2000km. Grease u joints and other parts at 1000km. All depends on riding conditions.
I love my 2006 Honda rubicon 500 owned it since new and has been perfect never any issues. I don’t plan on selling that old work horse no way. Glad to see you keep your first machine. Honda number one for small engines in my eyes. 🍻

Big Honda needs to write this man a check
What a great story! And wow that’s a lot of riding that Rincon has done.

My 300 fourtrax is from 89! still going strong.
Now that's what you call a great story! True ATV enthusiast right there. Keep the rubber side down buddy 🤘🏻

That is exactly why i bought a pioneer 700 .same bulletproof drivetrain .almost at 5k miles on mine absolutely no issues .
My dad's 2004 honda Rancher is still going. He uses it every deer season.

I just wish honda would use the 680cc form the rincon
And combine it with the Rubicon 520s transmission
And front locker
No. That 675cc was outclassed when it came out. They should've developed the 686cc out of the XX and put it in a utility quad.
If I used my ATV as a car on logging roads, flat trails and smooth surfaces, sure; Rincon/new 700 is great for that. Where we ride, you need a low gear and diff lock...it's a necessity. Great story. I've have & had Honda motorcycles, cars, trucks, lawn mowers and snowblowers and I really believe in their products.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I love my Honda! 07 Rubicon runs like new.
Awsome, whats on the handle bar look's like compression tester??
Retrofit oil pressure gauge
That’s so crazy lol I had the Honda 350 growing up thing was unbreakable and I tried lol then brand new 04 Ricon and my buddy bought one same day we put 10k on them fast at 15-16 years old lol I beat the ever loving snot out of the ole rincon and she never let me know lol some of my wildest memories are with a rincon lol
A video like this would never feature a Polaris.

He grew up when Honda made fun machines ATV's.
Rincon salesman of the decade.
Great story! I’m curious about the gauge by the left grip. What’s it for? I thought it was a compression gauge at first.
ive got 46000 km on my trx 250 she just keeps going
I had a 2003 Rincon, best 4 wheeler your right
I’m not very impressed with the one I have
Being a Diesel-Guy I never had a 4-wheeler and am a "keeper" when it comes to my 27 year old Dodge Ram with a (little bit beefed up) 12 valve Cummins and no, I wouldn't swap it for a newer of those computerized pick ups since mine may already have more miles on it that the 24 valves and 6.7 liter

...... ?
Awesome story!
My brother has a 2006 350 rancher with over 12,000 miles and still runs perfect sounds better than my 2020 rubicon
If you go to South Dakota you will find polaris ATV's & side by sides with Over 20000 miles All Day long
Where, at the wrecker?
Honda definitely should of gave you that bike!

For those people who can only handle 26hp or less go honda !!

I should build a high lifter edition Honda.... 🤔 hmm
Wondering why Honda ATV are not present in Europe any more...
Any high mileage formans out there?

My father in law has an 07 foreman 500 foot shift and his has about 26000 km on it. Not many issues
@@EZNowTrucker THANK YOU. mine = 4,800 km. Riding n original
Bought polaris 570 2023 and after 500km head gasket blew 😑
What is the top speed?
I been trying to find this out too, I know the 680 rincon can do 99 kms , I'm thinking somewhere around there..
I'd say around 100kmh, I know the Honda's have limiters. My friends 420 wouldn't do anymore than 89.
My 2003 Honda TRX350FM was speed limited to 60 Kmh. You would want to go any faster on it, believe me.
Rincons are notorious for throwing timing chains at 9000 miles. I would like to know how many timing chain tensioners he need replaced.
what's the story on those headlights though! need a set
Honda reliable and slow. Can't break parks when you don't have the power.
Most of the trails out West you can ride much over 30 mph anyway. Too rocky and rutted up. Most of the time 10-15 mph
Then go waste your cash on a crappy canned-ham or popo.
Exactly. This is why they don’t go overboard with power and performance. They’ll lose their reliability first status.
@TheFixer-rq9tj even under 30mph the power is still fun. Steep hills , deep mud can all be more fun with more power.
Not all KM's are equal lol.
But its not a bike, it's a quad/ fo-wheela.
Yep, Bicycle (Bi) means 2 wheels
Wish my Pioneer 500 had been good, what a disappointment.
wtf is a kilometer
It is the equivalent of the average wingspan of 500 bald eagles.
Makes me cringe everytime he says "bike".....
Dont worry about using the word bike to describe an ATV, much much bigger problems in the world you should cringe at
You can convert a bike to a three wheeler and or a four wheeler into a three wheeler bike.
I always think of it as a bike because of the chain and belt drive
I’ve owned them all they are All junk except for my 2020 rubicon it’s got double the mikes on it every other manufacturer did before they had major breakdowns Hondas just been oil changes and air filters
Plus nobody wants to buy a used Polaris or Can Am. They switch the models so often you might not be able to get parts after a fews years anyway
@@trailblazeratv6306 Except on eBay where new & used Can Am parts are plentiful & cheap if for some mad reason BRP can't supply it OEM.
