The Lion King | Returning to Pride Rock

  • This was originally planned to be up the 15th, but I ran into a few mentally challenging obstacles, including a blocked claim that was finally released. But in any case, I'm happy that I pushed through what was unexpectedly difficult. So here it is! The first entry to this marathon that I've wanted to do for years. I finally have it out, and appropriately for the 25th anniversary of when this movie was released.
I should point out that I wasn't able to cover everything, such as the memorable scenes or the rest of the cast member names. To me, it was more important that I talked about the story, characters, the songs, and my personal side with it. If I tried covering everything, trust me, we'd be here all day.
So I know that this isn't perfect. But with that being said, I hope you have fun with this project.

I like Sarabi. She is one of few Disney Queens whose not an atagonist/villain and I enjoy her on-screen appearance in the film. She didn't bat an eye at the hyenas, stand up to Scar, and have to stay strong for the lionesses after Mufasa's death. Before anyone corrects me, Sarabi is a Queen because she rules Pride Rock with Mufasa.
Beside Sarabi, there's Elsa and Keda from Atlantis.

I just wish she had more of a role.
For example, her (or both her she Mufasa) being the one to rescue Simba and Nala from the Elephant Graveyard (it would have made more sense since she would notice them being gone and Zazu would have likely told them they were missing.
As creepy as they were, completing and retoring the scene with Scar and Nala, the lionesses defending her and the arrival of the hyenas would have better explained their passiveness better.
That is the only thing the remake did right.

I really loved the Lion King when I was young and still do now, I liked how it was the animated version of Shakespeare's Hamlet in the story, you have a fantastic cast of characters, really great songs, Be Prepared and Hakuna Matata are my favourites and beautiful animation and musical score, it's one of my favourite Disney movies no doubt. Great review Golden ^^ 🦁☀️

Even though my favorite Disney animated film is Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King comes very close second. It's one of the most successful Disney films, the highest-grossing traditionally animated film of all time.
Here's a funny story: in the middle school, my classmates and me worked on a play of the Lion King. Heh, a friend of mine played Timon he looked ridiculous! The costume looked more like Tigger from Winnie-The-Pooh rather than Timon.
Anyway, It's amazing seeing you talking about a franchise you're passionated. I'm looking forward your future videos.

I got two theories for why "The Loin King" is so praised for all these years.
    1. It's the only Disney movie to not have humans interacting with animals, but also to not have animals being cloth-wearing anthropoid. No, really. Look at every other Disney movie with animals in it and compare it to "The Lion King"(EXCLUDING ONES WITH PIXAR). You really can't.
    2. Not a lot of people know this, but, this movie took a lot of inspiration from Shakespeare's: 'Hamlet' . It's the perfect pace for both children and adults to get behind without getting bored. If you compare the characters from both stories, you can see the resemblances. There are some changes to make the Disney quota, but still, you can see the characters from 'Hamlet' in animal form. Hell, "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride" took inspiration from Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Minus the whole main love interest dying. Still, it may not be every ones cup of tea, it's still a good movie to watch from time to time.

I'm surprised I haven't seen a fanfic crossover between Lion King and MLP, after all both show how long lasting friendships can make it in the end, and the whole student and teacher thing that work through things emotionally why also acting like family is seen through both Mufasa and Simba as well as Celestia and Twilight

4:51 I'd still have HIGH Hopes that the live action Lion King will be just as good as the original animated movie the only reason I'm excited for the live action remake to The Lion King is James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa and If I'm being honest no other actor can fit the role perfectly then James Earl Jones

Great video, I would like to mention a behind the scenes fact. The reason Timon and Pumba sing the opening and ending of Can You Feel The Love Tonight was because they originally sang the whole song. But Elton John was outraged when he saw the screened a preview of the film, as he wrote this as a ballad in the vein of classic Disney love songs. He actually called Jeffery Katenzbeg to yell at him. So to appease Katenzebrg and John, the final the version was a compromise.

  • @narukhfan07
    @narukhfan07 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Actually, since you brought up Nala's reasoning in the movie, there was a deleted scene that revealed she was going to be banished from the Pride Lands by Scar after she refused to be "his queen", followed by a rendition of "Be Prepared" that got scrapped from the final cut. It was deleted from the movie due to a line from it implying sexual harassment and understandably unfit for a family movie, although the scene was implemented in the Broadway production of it, albeit with a different musical number. Incidentally, the song the Broadway production has is called "The Madness Of King Scar" and I have seen fan animation of it that almost looks like it was literally made by Disney on TH-cam. Unsure if it's still there, but it's something I thought I'd bring up.

    • @GoldenFoxPictures
      @GoldenFoxPictures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I saw the deleted scene, knowing it was fan animated on top of that. And I can definitely get behind the reasoning of why it was taken off during production. Honestly I think a better scene would be Nala, discussing matters with her mother about leaving to find help as it would give Sarafina better screen time.

    • @narukhfan07
      @narukhfan07 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@GoldenFoxPictures Fair point on that, and actually it was also implemented again in the Broadway production, in a song called Shadowland. I'm not sure if the full Broadway scene is on TH-cam but the song is. Check it out if you like. Speaking of which, what is your opinion on the Broadway take if you've seen it in any form or another?

I was like in second grade watching the movie when the roaring scene at the end i was roaring to XD literly. When seeing the broadway always wanted either the zebra puppet costume or the cheeta one
The broadway gave a stronger roll to nala as an adult where she does confront scar where he tries to seduce her and then the song shadow land comes to play in.
bowling for buzzards and They call me mr. Pig i felt are the best moments of timon and pumba.

I was 6 years old as well and it also became a milestone in my childhood and too this day my feelings are the same as yours. Heck my younger sister had a total crush on Simba and had a Simba birthday cake at her Lion King themed birthday!
But your right, there is no "No.1" greatest movie, heck I don't number, I just say these are a group of great classic movies... Terminator 2 is another!
I think one of the reasons about them is that they are epic dramas about the human condition, ok they are animals but everything they went through much of humanity has also, this film shows too children what humanity has gone through in a way they can comprehend, heck early the Star Wars film were like that.
Totally off but Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince George of the UK also view this as one of their favourite films, two guys I'd have too call king myself one day have at least one thing in common with me!

@@GoldenFoxPictures Well. I guess there's not to much that's different. The only thing that's truly different that I can remember is the addition of a scene. When Simba is grown up but still at the Savanna, he sees Timone fall into a river, which caused him to remember when he saw Mufasa fall to his death. Anything else is primarily just extended scenes, minor modifications, and a few new musical numbers. One of them, The Morning Report, made it into the re-release version of the movie, and another is the opening theme to The Lion King 2.

As creepy as it was, completing and retoring the scene with Scar and Nala, the lionesses defending her and the arrival of the hyenas would have better explained their passiveness.

Just a recommendation, review the lion guard tv series after a while.
Sure it may seem irrelevant at times but it does get good after a while..
But im surprised i never found this a month ago.
I love the lion king. It was always my go to movie as a kid. I wasn't born around the time it was released only 6 years after heh..
But growing up it was my literal favorite movie. I always reenacted scenes
Sometimes started my own fictional lion world ... Kinda still do to this day but trying to write it into a fanficton just waiting till the lion guard ends i want it to be as perfect as it can get anyway...
I also loved the lion king 2 as a kid my favorite song from it was we are one
My favorite part of the movie
I cant really express the love i have for it as much as the first movie but i still loved it and kinda still do it did get old and i found its flaws later on But i will never stop loving it.
I never owned one and a half really first time i ever watched it was borrowed from a child hood friend which tbh his copy ended up staying with me by accident and after all these years i still own it...
But as a kid i never liked it as much as the first 2 films i loved lions more than seeing timon and pumba but as an adult at 19 years of age, its one of my favorite disney movies i love the corny jokes , i love seeing a piece of timons home his ma uncle max...
I originally watched the lion king on vhs always popped it in when i could watching the few commercials before hearing the birds chirping then "NAAAAA" always magic as a kid.
I owned the two disk special editon of lion king 2 i still own the first disc but the second disc and its box got lost somewhere in the house and storage...
But i popped the movie in, watched the few commercials "i think The Aladdin special edition dvd " was one of them not sure.
The menu screen...hearing the instrumental before playing the movie..magic to me...
As i grew up tho lion king was still relevant, but my movies disappeared i never watched the first one for years (literally) lost the vhs , watched the second for a while...till my mom bought me the dvd they sold in a grocery store
Enough of the memories of the movies...as i grew older i did find and experience the fan made stuff, found out kopa was a thing, learned how he died n such and to me (before i knew what canon and non canon were) i thought it was real, after the first movie and when kopa grew up i thought zira killing kopa was the reason he disliked her and wss over protective because of that reason.
    Course that changed immediately...heres why..
As i grew older i did long for a lion king tv series, it continuing kiaras and kovus story. I wished more lion king came out i wished they made more animated movies n such...i read fanficton about it (read stuff by kiara32 on fanficton.net her story's are very well written)
When they announced that the lion guard would be made....i was the happiest 15 year old ever.
    I was probably shi*ing bricks.
(Course my first On air viewing was ruined when my grandma and mother talked loudly in the back ground and when my cousin asked questions continuesly) but i did love it..i did watch it again when it came on demand
Literally fell in love with it.
I was one of those who got excited for the lion guard even to this day im still keeping up...
I experienced the first wave of hate, i questioned where was Kion in the second movie...it was badly received
Sure its still badly received today...people still call it a fan fiction, not canon etc...
Even tho it is canon etc..
It being the show it was , it got me into speculation something i never delved in before
It made me think of theories, it expanded a huge world for me it was the reason i fell inlove with theory videos or speculation.
The lion king is a big part of my life and still my go to franchise when i have nothing better to do, i keep trying to think of a good fantastic story of the time line...which i fail at badly XD.
It still holds a magic inside my heart. It reminds me of when life was simple, it helps me escape, its the reason im me and why im still so passionate about it. Im glad it was apart of my life.
And i hope one day, my kids would feel the magic as i have when i first fell inlove with it.
