I came here comment to tell who wants to know that this was the first digital speedpaint I ever saw, it motivated me immensely to learn how to paint digitally and today I can say that I do pretty well. Thank you author for posting this :))
This is one of the first speedpaints I ever saw, maybe the second one, something like 6 years ago, and it was so inspiring to me, it's really stuck with me all these years. It definitely influenced the direction I took with my art and expanded my ideas of what I could draw. Every now and then I watch it again to remember that inspiration. Watching it makes me happy.
Same, this video and piece is what originally inspired me back in 2012 to go to college for Digital media. I had forgotten its name. I have searched for it for 4 years. All I could remember was what the image looked like as well as the music *_(I have hummed it in my head for years)_* Finally, after all this time I found it again...
This video got me into digital art. Whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to this video. Now I have my own business with digital art. Thanks so much for the inspiration and encouragment OP!!!
When this video came out I was around 13 years old - I was really into drawing and realized you could paint digitally as well. Inspired by this video I got myself a Wacom tablet and started practicing, promising myself I would become just as good one day and study diligently - today I have my second Video Game concept artist job and almost finished my first degree. Thank you so much!
I love stories like this! Speedpainting also inspired me and while it may always be a hobby I improved because my inspiration made me draw more (i remember when i could do it with a mouse. My first tablet spoiled me 😂) I wish you the best success with your journey!
10 years later from seeing it first time ...after all these years I found it again ! The art, the music , ... it all stuck with me after all these years .
actually many artists work like this for landscapes, havent seen anyone making portraits with the technique though :) its just incredible, seeing her being formed like a sculpture, this is real skill for sure!
Its been over a year now since I first found this vid and I still come here to listen purely for the music and the art. I have never gotten sick of this.
This picture is very inspiring! Every time I feel lost with my artwork, I come back here and look at this beautiful piece and I feel inspired once more.
I first watched this video years ago, and it was actually what got me into Emancipator's music. I don't listen to it much anymore but it's pretty nostalgic to listen to this song again and see this painting. Gorgeous work!
thanks to you I got an A in my art class :D I used your speedpaint to draw my own on paper and because I could do a step by step it really helped a lot :D don't worry I said you were my inspiration even if the result weren't the same (I did another girl not exactly the same:P) I've rewatched your speed paint a hundred time still awesome :D
When I draw, I think : Ouah, it's beautiful what I do today, cool ! And after, I look videos like that and I think : Okay, you don't have any talent and you must take draw lesson... My god ! It's so beautiful ! I want to do that but my hand don't want why ?!
*_is happily doing art on paper, having a proud feeling of being an artist_* *_sees this and gains confidence in digital art_* *_tries digital art_* *_feels like a shit artist_*
please try more ! ... i thought the same way as you when i tried it before ... it was shit for me .. but belive me .. you find HUGE developments in your talent when you try it for maximum 5 month! ... i might not be as awesome as those you watch but i can see the difference in my drawings in only months .. check my chanel ... it only has on3 video though ... im 15 and it works with me so you should try it too
but i got my tablet at 11. im 14 now, so to get where I am, it took 3 years. hell, my art isn't even remotely as good as the art in the speedpaint, and 80% of the speedpaints in fact. It takes a lot of practice, determination and patience.
always had a knack for art I always drew, whenever I was indoors/was outside, I had a pencil and a stack of scrap paper started oil painting when I was 11 (never took a class; my parents just bought art materials one time) tried digital art at 13 with a measly mouse because I couldn't afford to buy a tablet (couldn't bother my parents for one since they don't tolerate art as a profession) college application starts and I apply for a business course while longingly gazing at my friends who were entering art schools four years later, I'm in law school and just this May, I finally bought a tablet and I couldn't be happier even if the best art I make is crappy fanart it's a start, a progression, and I'm happy. Frustration is all right, it's natural. But you never give up on it, you never give up on something you're passionate about. Best to you; to all of us!
Ohhh i keep looking for this video again! This is like my first few video back then when i was 16 or 17 trying to get into digital art and thinking if I will ever be able to reach this level. Now I'm 23 and still learning digital art. So nostalgic to see the video that gives me so much inspiration back then.
Yeah same here. I had this video on my art playlist back when TH-cam started nightcore and trance. This video was the first time that I wanted to do myself. The only difference is I had to stop.
@@eternalspace668 aww im sorry to hear that. actually i stopped drawing around two years and eventually started again march this year. i figured that digital art is something i would do for the rest of my life, albeit i realized that a little bit too late. i hope u will find the passion and dont let it die forever
@@wantedaway97 yeah same here. There was always a roller coaster of being motivated or unmotivated to do something. I’m glad through that you are working hard towards your passion. It’s okay even if you or myself started late it’s better than not trying at all. For my situation, I might have to wait until things have been settled down. But otherwise, I look forward to the future.
This is just.... I just. I'm an artist, and I pray to have talent like this everyday, I try so hard, and I never improve. This is beautiful. The song makes it even more beautiful.
wow!!! watching these make me feel so inspired!! does anyone have any tips on how to practice my art? =) i normally just look at pictures and try to copy, but this persons technique is sooo...wowwww.... howww!??!?!!? do people just self teach themselves to make NOTHING to SOMETHING AMAZING! ??? what the heck. i get practice makes perfect, but im not sure HOW to practice... this is sooo amazing...... its sooo beautiful.... =)!!!
I find it best to set a series of challenges; just play around with various techniques, styles, mediums, color schemes, whatever sounds fun to you. I'm not self taught, but in my free time I doodle alot. My friend reccommends to keep a journal on hand constantly, so that when an idea pops up you can draw it as soon as possible, rather than wait until you have paper and a pencil. whatever sounds fun to you! remember, there is no right or wrong way to draw. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)
Hayden Brown If you check out the website "Deviant art," they have panels of very very basic drawing outlines of people whose shapes give you a general idea of body posture, alignment of face and eyes, and motions of the body. For example I wanted to draw a female swordsman (in style of Japanese/Bushido), and I found a page that had 16 -- 20 models all in action poses. I don't have the fun equipment these speed-painters do, and when I do I won't trace the figures, but it is *so* nice to know that they compilations of posters look like they'll be a great help! And as one of the other posters said, Practice, practice, practice! Hope this hint is of help to you ^_^ www.deviantart.com
jess kalford practise is repetition, day in, day out, as much as you can, anyone can reach this skill level it's just how motivated you are to do it, some people say: "i just can't practise enough" or "i suck at art", these are the people who do nothing about it but just kepp on being amazed by others rather than amazing others. point is, practise is just doing it. you'll start out bad but keep going and you'll get there.
Don't get me wrong, this is a gorgeous, serene, and ethereal piece that I absolutely love and this isn't a slight to you or your incredible artistic talent, but I feel like this would've been better without the question mark in the middle. It takes a beautiful work of art and makes it kind of cheesy:/
there is something oddly disturbing about this picture. I can't figure out just what it is. perhaps it is the emotion of giving up, as conveyed in the drawing. perhaps it is the mystery; is it possible to be so lost? There is beauty here, yet there is also mystery and a strange sense of unease. kind of like being scared of the future, where you have no clue what will happen.
You see girls with arms and no holes or question marks everyday, why should she be like them ? ;P Yeah I understand your opinion, I actually did think the same first, but I love the music and that changes everything, does it ? XD
what im trying to say is like remove the question mark, but keep the hole there. It makes it so that you can sorta see the idea but without help. adding the question mark is like adding a giant hint on a quiz. And adding arms just makes it look better.
I remember I saw this video about 4 years ago and all I thought of was how in hell will I ever be able to draw like that?! But I never thought of it negatively instead I kept practicing trying to learn anatomy and the coloring technique with only the help of youtube tutorials and a few days ago I successfully drew a piece that is even more detailed than this one! I just had to come back here and say thank you so much for being such a great inspiration for my artistic journey :)
it's beautiful, but i think the question mark just ruined the painting, there was no need to insert such and direct sign just to follow up with the title of the painting. The feelings you wanted to convey were clear as crystal, the question mark, the hell with that! You don't need that.
Okay 116 dislikes? All the people who disliked better find a solution to fix this, If they don't... Oh its on! The dislikers are like everywhere across youtube -.-

i absolutely love your skill in light and shade and your knowledge of colour shows. I don't know but I got a little teary eyed watching this image come to life. Thank you for sharing your work.
I don't know if you usually reply to your comments, I just hope you reply to this. I'm an upcoming artist, I know I'm not good, I know I'm nod bad, I just want to know how many yeard had it taken you to get to this level? Did you have to go to take any lessons? Any tips for an artist upcoming?
I may not be nearly as experienced as the artist in this video, but I think I speak for every artist when I say that you need practice. This chick didn't start off this good - no one does. She has to polish her skills both traditionally and on her paint program. It takes years to draw the way she does, and learning how to paint on the computer is like relearning everything you know about how to draw. One day I hope to be as good as her, and I hope you will continue to practice and progress yourself as an artist.
Yup this is so true! Definitely practice is key. I've only just started digital painting for around 2-3 weeks now, and the comparison to the multiple scraps I made to what I can do now is really inspiring for myself xD And I think it is very important to stick to what truly inspires you and not compare yourself to other people because everyone's art speaks from the artist's heart.
You'll need observation, ambition, and passion to learn this, perhaps a little bit of empathy to understand the artist and question why he/she does what. Plus learning about anatomy, shading, complimentary colors, light sources and how color bounces, learning to draw hair, learning how to use certain art programs, a bit of creativity, practicing with different styles and concepts to broaden your skill set... ehhhh, there's quite a bit there. These are all things you can google, people put this information out for free on the internet. I never really believed in talent, I feel like like once you learn how to do something, and toss away any uncertainties, annoyances, and insecurities that hinder you (Examples: "Why cant I do this?" "im no good at anything" "Im going to stop here im afraid of ruining it" "no matter how much I try it doesnt work" "it doesnt look right, I ruined it"), it all pretty much flows freely. You just need to be interested, and be okay with experimenting and making mistakes. That's part of learning.
I see this was a sort of awakening for many other artists, too! I saw this when it was fairly new (~12 years ago) and it motivated me to pick up my digital tablet and try drawing Shadow the Hedgehog. I think I can safely say I never really put a tablet down since. Thanks for being a part of my formative years as a digital artist ❤
yeah must can draw, didnt well but good. but do do something like thing you need just practise and anyone can learn something like this its only the time.
Watching this amazing piece of art unfold along with the sad yet beautiful music almost made me want to cry. You can tell that so much emotion and work was put into this. Hands done, this is just breathtaking.
Those were the most beautiful speed paintings I have ever seen, the artist is incredible, even though it's on a computer that still takes a lot of talent. I was happy I stumbled across it.
this painting is extravagant,i felt a bit of sadness as i was watching the process.I felt like there was tears in my heart.Never felt such thing like this. All i can say is that this [ainting means something and is so beautiful.Congratulations to the Aritsta.
I started digital art around 8 years ago and now I have a t shirt business where I use digital art to create all the designs. This video inspired me to start digital art. I cannot thank you enough for inspiring me!
this was first digital painting video ive ever seen, back when i got my first tablet. this inspired me, and made me who i am today. what a throwback.. great video. see ya in another 10 years i guess.
no matter what kind of program or computer or type of wacom that you use.. as long you have that awesome talent and practice a lot you can make something rock like this..
i have been watching this video from yesterday but the music and art is too addictive to stop, great choice in picking the music since it goes well with your art and background.
I get inspired by anything at art by things like this, I already feel like a perfect artist my looking at these and seeing how my art compared to other art like yours. My art is like I'd guess like yours but more like on paper.
Oh my, and I can now speedpaint too and today I finally found this song and then had to realise where I had heard it before. Ill never forget this video.

It's 2022 and I still think about this! Thank you for getting me started with digital art! I love this so much you have no idea 💗
I'm looking at this two years later from first seeing it and it is still a masterpiece :)
it's been 3 years since I watched and it still blows me away
And THAT just with one layer. Masterpiece :)
she uses mulitple layers though

The title is the question I ask myself everyday
Haha yes you have a soul
I love the art piece, but I don't think that the question mark was not needed and it takes the depth out of your piece.
You have a double negative in your sentence.. Unless you really do think that the question mark is needed?
Two of the most expressive forms of art in a single video... Beautiful - both art and music.
this speedpaint is the one that i liked the most, the painting and the music really describes how i am feeling 6 years ago..

JUST A SUGGESTION!!! I think it would look nicer if you added arm outlines or something to show arms and remove the question mark
It would be something more interesting
I don't agree it is on purpose that the body cannot be seen and the hole on her chest.
its perfect the way it is , understand wut comes from this drawing

This is beautiful.... but that question mark... maybe if it was drawn on like smoke and super subtle...
I hope that I can expand my art to get this well.
This looks awesome but i think you should have let the question mark out
i love coming back to this speedpaint. the music helps the drawing so well
For some reason, I could totally see this being animated once it was done. That is exceptional work.
Whenever I see this, I always wonder whether my hands actually function as hands..

i absolutely love your skill in light and shade and your knowledge of colour shows.
I've only just started digital painting for around 2-3 weeks now, and the comparison to the multiple scraps I made to what I can do now is really inspiring for myself xD
And I think it is very important to stick to what truly inspires you and not compare yourself to other people because everyone's art speaks from the artist's heart.
how/where do you learn to do this?
its talent or hard work and ambition ^^
The Fictional Realist i love you now

I nearly was about to cry... this pic touches my heart and is wonderfully drawn. Greatest Respects for your work and skills.
I see this was a sort of awakening for many other artists, too! I saw this when it was fairly new (~12 years ago) and it motivated me to pick up my digital tablet and try drawing Shadow the Hedgehog. I think I can safely say I never really put a tablet down since. Thanks for being a part of my formative years as a digital artist ❤
...i have no talent...
you dont need talent. you only practise
***** I agree somewhat.U can train yourself to be just as good, but tallent ussually inspires people to start drawing so talent does matter
yeah must can draw, didnt well but good. but do do something like thing you need just practise and anyone can learn something like this its only the time.
***** ^what?
xDDDDD we are two xDD

Nicely done and great use of the song. Emancipator and others are perfect for these sort of things.
