Have both the cab forward and 2926. I will add a comment that might be of use. Tbe cab recently started making a raspy static noise and I told a friend who is a longtime repair person that I was going to have to go to proto 3. He said before you do that test with another 8 ohm speaker. Those speakers were crap and he had replace a bunch I will give it a try and let you know. Love both of those had the for 25 years with bars and this is the first problem. BCRS
@jamesdenny4734 I replaced the battery with a bcr which he walked about. This is a capacitor that holds the charge. The two things that kill proto 1 are trying to frie up with a bad battery and running with a transformers that doesn't have a quick blow fuse. If you are using a pre/post war transformer without a quick blow fuse you will fry your electronics. BCRs are advertised in the o gauge magazine and online.Salty gave the information on the podcast.
Very nice! Some people don't like the ProtoSound1, but I don't think that it is too bad. The crew talk isn't that nonsensical blathering and actually sounds pretty good. All of the other sounds are just fine. Nice looking locomotives, to boot. An excellent video, as always.
@@johnandrus3901 Thanks! I appreciate it. I remember Nix Crossing mentioned once that the proto1 cab chatter was realistic. Figured he'd know, working for Amtrak and all...
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk He does, for sure. I retired in April of 23, after a nice railroading career. I find most crew talk rather goofy and unrealistic, but it gives me a chuckle. Keep up the great videos.
I’m looking at a PS1 switcher for use exclusively in a yard. Any suggestions on a cheaper transformer/power unit that would get these features? Great vid. Just subscribed.
@3-Rail-Tales-Dad Thanks! Unfortunately, the only transformer with the program buttons is the Z4000. Stupid expensive right now. All of the features can be accessed with any transformer my simple moving the throttle back and forth. I would suggest an MTH Z1000. Good transformer and reasonably priced. I'll do a vid on programming with an old lionel ZW if that helps....
This is really cool that you covered this subject Matt. This will be a big help for lots of people. Great job!

Cool running session 👍👍👍🔥
@RABSTRAINS MTH had a lot of different styles of locomotives in this time period. It's what made me purchase so many! Thanks again RABS!
Looking good
