  • I was gonna wait to upload this video because I have a few other videos that I want to post but I put this one up early so the drivers could find it. It’s been a couple years since I last filmed bulky item collection. Twice a year, San Antonio has bulky item collection and brush collection. My neighborhood was having bulky item collection at the end of March so I was able to film due to the coronavirus canceling school. This video is the bulky collection on my street. I probably won’t have part two of this video up for several weeks because I have a few other videos that I really want to upload. The city actually has the smaller trucks go through and collect the items and then they have bigger body trucks but only the small ones are grapple trucks. Obviously these trucks get full fast so they send out a bigger body truck for the drivers to transfer the items into. Part two is the drivers transferring everything from this truck to the bigger truck. I was able to talk to the drivers once they were done and they were pretty excited to be on video. Hopefully they are able to find this video. A huge shoutout goes to the super friendly drivers for making this video possible!

Pretty sure this operator was who just picked up my neighbors GINORMOUS brush pile. Who knew I'd find this so interesting to watch?! Glad I stumbled onto your channel, great videos!

Great video! Watching grapples is always super cool, and this guy sure does know his way around the controls. That looks kind of fun riding in that seat by the grapple arm from stop to stop haha I wish we had this method of collection up here. Great video man, looking forward to part 2!

Thanks! Grapples are always fun to watch. He certainly knew his machinery. I bet it would be kinda fun to operate one of these haha. Thanks glad you enjoyed!

The guy on the grapple sure knows his machinery. He knew just how to grab that stuff the best way to avoid dropping anything. Good crew and great photographer too!

Awesome video! This was super entertaining to watch. I actually filmed the same thing yesterday, just doing on call bulk instead.

In my opinion, San Antonio has pretty good city services in general but I think Solid Waste Management does a really good job...thanks for another good video Andrew!!

Crazy set up. Don't see how this saves time. I've seen guys work faster tossing the stuff by hand.

This is just one way to do it but some drivers do it differently

Try lifting furniture, cinder blocks, pallets, concrete by hand all day. Not very fast or efficient. Good for spine doctors though.

@@billtimmons7071 i think basically, why use the machinery for 6 cardboard boxes.. walk along and toss it in unless there is said bulky items
