  • Here we have one of the city’s grey 108SD King Cobras collecting a street side Tuesday trash route. I recently discovered this rear load for the city near my college campus and I knew I had to check it out when I got the chance. San Antonio only sends rear loaders to routes that have alleys, dead ends, or streets not accessible to an ASL. However, this route is a mix of alleys and regular streets but it surprises me that the regular streets aren’t collected by a side loader. Based on the fact that most bins on this route have no gripper marks whatsoever, it’s safe to assume a side loader has never been through this area. I was able to get some good shots on this route and I’m definitely glad they made this area rear load. It’s crazy that these grey New Ways are 2012 units and they are still running everyday, barely showing their age. The city originally bought these for bulk/brush and only ran them out of the SW yard but a few years ago they installed tippers on them and threw them on regular routes. With the route reshuffling that the city did a year ago, it has been a lot easier to find RL routes so you can expect a lot more footage of San Antonio’s rear load fleet soon. I hope you all enjoy!
Big thanks to the friendly crew for letting me film!

@ 00:14... geez those carts should be able to stay on the tipper without popping off either in the hopper or when you bring 'em back down
