Father leave the pride after the baby is born, and then come back again after the cub is a year or 2 years grown. While, else the urge to eat the baby would be there for fear of competition. And when he comes back the male cub that are not grown leave the pride to start their own family.... Lions are pretty interesting animals when you get to know them
