At the time, the pride was out hunting. A lioness is close by. If anything dangerous approached the cubs she would have come forth and sent out an alarm. The tourist jeeps are now part of the landscape and as long as they keep their distance we are ignored.

They look so cute, I hope they weren't abandoned by their mommy lions 🙏😪💗🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 they are still young cubs, they need to be taught how to hunt to survive. I love you little ones, I hope some of you cubs made it!! 🙏😪💗

All the lion cubs look at tourists, what’s going on ?who are they

    • @bobunetic

Cubs are kept together in sort of a nursery. A lioness is concealed nearby watching over them. The rest of the pride is elsewhere following food. If necessary, the lioness can summon them back. They are the top of the food chain here. A hyena would be nuts to make an approach on one of these cubs. They are so used to the tourist jeeps and the ground rules of no one exiting the vehicles, we can pull right up, switch off the engine and watch them a while in silence and they are oblivious to us.

    • @larryyonce

@@adangalindo9406 No, not necessarily. Average lifespan of lions is 10-15 years, with females living longer on average. So some could still be alive 8 years later.

It is not unusual for the pride's cubs to be left as a group while the rest is involved in a hunt or resting. You have to remember they are at the top of the food chain. There is a lioness watching nearby that can spring into action if necessary. A roar can bring an angry pride back quickly. If the adults were here the cubs would want to play with them and be a pain like most toddlers. So they get alone time for the adolescents to develop independence and the others rest.

A pride lioness is nearby but out of site. The rest of the pride is around hunting. She is there to provide immediate protection and her alarm can bring back the rest of the pride in short order. Evidently the system seems to work. The tour jeeps are seen as non-threatening. It is not uncommon for a lion to jump on top of a jeep when it stops just to use it as a temporary high ground to get a survey of the land.
