When I was an OLD ‘B’ licence holder I was addicted to my Trio 9000 multimode and I loved 2 meters SSB. I’ve managed to work all around the world on HF and yet I love 2 meters. It’s a bit like vinyl versus CD, you never forget your first love ❤. Thanks for the vid 73 Mike.
Thank you Callum!! I always love to see how you do stuff!!! Doesn't matter if it's antenna related, the shack, building stuff, carpentry, etc. It's all good!!! God Bless & Have A Wonderful Weekend!! Randy. N9RAN
Nice work. That Icom 9700 is a great radio . Love that air fryer . They a big hit in the US as well. Hope you figure wear the RF is getting into the Kenwood mic . That TID radio is nice. Was nice weather for that open house. 2 meter SSB is great . Even 2 meter AM works nice. We have all mode in US band plain. Even FT8 on 2 meters. Been some solar storms past few days . But between them a few days we had 10 meters open in NY. I am saving up for more wire. DX 10 and 50. 73
Callum, I think you would really like a SDR radio like the Flex or the SunSDR. Simplifies the audio and control with a PC and can keep them of the desk giving you more room.
You need a pair of satellite yagis and a rotator on the roof to play satellites with the 9700! I'm saving for the 9700 now and that's what I plan on having, except on a tripod for portable use.
Just a quick tip on lighting: the more you can get reflective with it (i.e. bouncing it off the walls and ceiling or reflector panels), the better. Less glare, better dispersion, still plenty of lumens, and easier to color balance. Direct lighting is obviously problematic, and diffusers can only do so much.
Ah.. I have two lighting requirements.. I already have the one you suggested - but I wanted a darker mood AS WELL. I have made some tests and just need to move a couple of things and I should be worted. Thank!
I use RemoteHams for my Kenwood TM-D700 as well af my TS870. Set up on separate computers so i can use either from my phone or shack computer. Not super active around here on VHF but sometimes there is a nit of activities on repeaters.
Did you buy the model of Air fryer that Peter Waters recommended in his review or did you go for the one Martin Lynch recommended one? lol Have a great weekend Cal
Callum… I thought Brits ate bangers and not sausages? Very similar to Italian sausages. Try a yellow mustard dipping sauce with those sausages. 73 de KD6UYK (Tim).

I remember that radio! I had one, I just remembered.. Also branded as a Trio I think.

Hi Cal,
I put some chokes on my radio system. Hope I have the RF on the audio solved. You and the family stay safe. 73 WJ3U
