Beyond musical taste, I am not that kind of toxic person who's pressed by personal opinions: but I am annoyed by the stereotype that Italians are loud for over dramatic reasons. It's the language! In order to respect the meter you must open that vowels at the end of every single syllable.
In this case I'm quite sure Matt was talking about the song. He has said on previous livestreams that he founds it too loud for his taste, and only heard the melody when he listened to the studio version (where the instruments are less aggressive than in their live performance). It's more about the genre and mix of the song.
Tho I agree with you that this cliché is getting old.

My uptake on this year’s participating countries.
My ultimate favourites are France, Malta, Switzerland for very different reasons. Any country winning from these 3 is equally fine by me.
My second favourites are Finland and San Marino, while my guilty pleasures are Germany and Estonia.
Now for my comments on each participant. I am sorry, but I am going to be completely blunt with my comments, so please do not take offence.
1. Albania - why does Albania feel the need, year in year out to send powerful ballads, which seem frozen in a past musical time zone? It seems that Albania feels that it has to send divas with extremely powerful vocals, who feel the need to spill their guts all over the place with their voices. Albania has to realise that music styles have moved on and that sometimes less is much better than more.
2. Australia - very disappointing entry once again from Australia. The song might not be so bad sung by another singer but Montaigne’s vocals do not seem up to standard. She is not very consistent in her singing. At times she seems to deliver, at other times she gives the impression that she does not know how to control her breathing and her singing comes out very shaky as if she has been running and is completely out of breath.
3. Austria - an average song. Nothing spectacular, nothing unique. You hear this song, you like it (or don’t) but then you forget instantly.
4. Azerbaijan - I didn’t like last year’s entry that much but it was way better than this year’s. This year Azerbaijan tried to recapture last year’s uniqueness and ended up with a much poorer version. The song is repetitive and I completely dislike the “ ma ma ma Mata Hari” bit.
5. Belgium - The banshees have come out to sing. Very flat song from beginning to end. If it had a drop enhancing the song it could have removed its boringness.
6. Bulgaria - Ok the song is a delicate song, but it does get boring after a couple of times listening to it. Like Belgium’s it is completely flat beginning with the same notes and ending with the same notes with no drop, no variation in between to elevate it a little bit. If I have to describe it, I would say it is one whole wail. Besides the lyrics are so predictable and unoriginal, “growing up is growing old” - who would have thought that!? At least the singer’s vocals elevate it.
7. Croatia - Balkan bop of which we have a couple plastic ones this year. Can this girl really sing? Because the only time she tries (“Don’t go! Don’t go!”) it is more like a scream than singing. Sorry but I find this song very forgettable and boring.
8. Cyprus - well not a bad song and I enjoy it. But is it a winning track? I don’t think so. Cyprus seems to want to replace the success it had with Fuego, which was a sure winner. But it is sending poorer versions of it to the ESC.
9. Czech Republic - a very likeable singer but again a very average song with nothing that original or outstanding about it.
10. Denmark - a poor 80s throwback.
11. Estonia - one of my guilty pleasures. This song has grown up so much on me. A winning song? Definitely not but still enjoyable.
12. Finland - Definitely enjoy listening to this song. It should do well, even if it is not winner material maybe.
13. France - one of my favourites. Has winning potential because it is so unique and classy - a song in the French chanteuse tradition with a great singer who delivers the song with so much passion. Good luck France.
14. Georgia - Is this even a song because to me the singer seems to be just reading through the lyrics. There is absolutely no emotion in his facial expressions.
15. Germany - Another guilty pleasure. I can’t help listening to this song. It’s silly, even maybe idiotic but so happy and enjoyable - exactly what we need right now. Has it winning vibes? Maybe not but who cares? And the singer is so likeable.
16. Greece - A good and enjoyable song. My only criticism is the highly repetitive and predictable lyrics. A winner? No.
17. Iceland - The nerds have come out to sing. Last year Iceland had the upper hand in the sense of the uniqueness of its entry but now it is not so unique anymore, having the same type of song twice in a row. And uniqueness does not make something good or special. In this sense I find both last year’s and this year’s entry rather silly and stupid and not just the composition itself but also its presentation. To me the group seems like a bunch of kindergartners performing in a school concert.
18. Ireland - Has presented a very likeable, enjoyable, happy and very radio- friendly song. Winning vibes? Again, don’t think so, but hope this time round Ireland does not do badly.
19. Israel - Same comment as for Ireland and the revamp made it even better.
20. Italy - Generally I always like Italy’s entries and they are always among my favourites but not this time around. I find the group wannabes rockers - real rockers in Italy would never even dream about participating in San Remo. Organised singing competitions are anathema to them. Besides the song is highly predictable and repetitive with its “Siamo fuori di testa, ma diversi da Loro”.
21. Latvia - “The moon is rising .... Parara.... Parara.” Dislike it so much!
22. Lithuania - Same as Iceland. The novelty of this group has worn off. This year they have presented us with a replica of last year, and an even poorer version, with same moves, almost same background. They come out as wanting in their top story. Again uniqueness does not mean outstanding. Being stupid and silly is also unique, as in this case.
23. Malta - The most outstanding bop of this year. On first hearing it, one might think it is messy, but on hearing it more, one realises how the different genres complement each other and blend so well together. Besides, Destiny has the best vocals in this year’s competition and she will definitely deliver. Hopefully the public vote which is always cruel with Malta’s entries with its block/geopolitical voting will rise up to the occasion and vote for this outstanding song. Good luck Malta.
24. Moldova - Just the tackiest, cheapest and most silly track. Need not say more just how can anyone even like it?
25. Netherlands - OK, after Arcade this is a let-down. But not such a bad song after all. Just maybe average. And the singer is so likeable.
26. North Macedonia - The singer brings so much emotion in his delivery and clearly believes in and feels his song. It is a pity that the song is maybe so theatrical and belongs to a different time zone.
27. Norway - just a very average throw back to the eighties (or is it seventies?) events costume-wise.
28. Poland - I don’t understand the hate. Ok it is not a winning song and it is quite average but then so are many others.
29. Portugal - Sorry but the song is too “dated”. And the singer’s vocals are quite too nasal for my liking.
30. Romania - Ok the song is quite original. Quite good also. But why so much auto-tune? I don’t know why but I have the sinking feeling that this is a wannabe Loreen?
31. Russia - I am sorry but I don’t like these patriotic/nationalistic songs. It seems like an anthem rather than a song. Besides it is so messy and “shouty”. And why does the singer, who is in her late 20s, seem so old? When first seeing her, I thought she was around 40.
32. San Marino - Another one of my favourites. It is so uplifting and happy besides being energetic. And it is also not so generic, even though it is very radio-friendly. Hope San Marino does really well this time. Good luck San Marino.
33. Serbia - One of the most plastic songs this year. I wonder why it is sometimes so over-hyped. Ok it is quirky and energetic but that is all. Why do the 3 singers look so much like each other? They seem a photocopy of one another - same type of hair (different colour, maybe to distinguish them) and completely same type of features. Maybe they used the same plastic surgeon! They just put on a cheap, tacky and messy show prancing around in their bras to maybe make up for their plasticity? This is way too much over-rated.
34. Slovenia - Ana Soklic is such an accomplished, good vocalist. It is a pity her song is so under-rated. Her song reminds me of Macedonia’s Tamara Todevska’ “Proud”. It is a pity that it is not up to that standard, but Ana manages to elevate her song just by her vocals.
35. Spain - A delicate ballad in the Spanish tradition. Average but still good. Pity it is not more popular with the public.
36. Sweden - Again a typical good pop song, in the Swedish tradition. Maybe not a winning song but still very likeable as is its singer.
37. Switzerland - One of my favourites. This is what uniqueness is all about. A haunting song with some very haunting and outstanding vocals. My only query is - is the Eurovision public ready for another song like Arcade? Although the songs are very different but they are the same genre. Good luck Switzerland.
38. Ukraine - There was such a hype last year (and also this year) over this group. Ok I appreciate the musical elements of their compositions but the vocal part puts me completely off. The singer’s vocals are too piercingly high pitched and nasal for my liking.
