THANK YOU for having some common sense about Macedonia. It is a decent song but I think fans are letting their personal opinions about the song interfere with their predictions. It's not qualifying.

The thing that scares me the most is that the song is so hyped up in the beginning and now it is losing steam, the song is good, the stage is good, the only way it is not going to qualify is because of the backlash from all the hype surrounding the song and let's be honest the music video is too good, too good that it might become the song's Achilles heel since people are expecting way too much from my opinion a decent song.
2.Azerbaijan
The song is kinda good but after last year's song this is quite a letdown. However the song is very approachable to those who might be viewing it for the 1st time so people will vote for it and i will say that this semi final is filled with azerbaijan's voting partners so i dont think we should write off the song yet.
3.Albania
Honestly,Eugent is in my top 3 male vocalists for this year. I really want Albania to qualify but the running order will definitely screw him over. The only way that i can see him qualifying are the juries putting him in top 5 but i dont think it will happen.
4.FYR Macedonia
I really like the song but it is sandwiched between 2 giants (Bulgaria and Israel) so that is already a bad sign. I think the song is very creative since it sounds like 3 songs that are being glued together but i think casual viewers will be put off by the sudden change in transition between the verses.
5.Belgium
The first word that came to my mind when i heard this is Bond. This song sounds like it can become a sound track for a James Bond movie. I really hope that belgium can make the staging super cinematic and super impactful because without a strong staging i can see this being forgotten very easily with all the high impact songs in the semi final.
6.Switzerland
At this point i am starting to think that Switzerland is cursed by someone who doesnt want them to succeed. Its kinda painful seeing them tried so many different formulas yet they always fall short when the real thing begins. Stones is a good song but i think it will suffer just like Apollo last year, good song, everything is good but somehow it is still not enough to qualify
7.Austria
I am having trouble if i should put austria as a definite or a maybe because the song and the vocals are awesome but i think they lacked voting partners in this semi final which will hinder their chance to qualify.

I cant see all three of them (Czech Republic,Israel and Cyprus) being qualifiers. Most likely only two are going to qualify.

Czech Rep is the boy entry so I don't see any problem for Mikolas. He will be memorable enough.
The battle is between pop divas: Israel, Finland, Azerbaijan and Cyprus. I only feel sure with Israel and Cyprus. Dunno with Azerbaijan. Finland will really struggle with televote

Fingers crossed. If Azerbaijan makes it through to the Final this year, then they'll do it every year. This is the ultimate test for Eurovision. Will the generic song with trite lyrics make it just because of the diaspora? If Juries cooperate with us, unbiased viewers, maybe we'll manage to keep "X My Heart" in the semi where it belongs!
Right now its not qualifying. Its all up to the performance. It is staged by Fokas Evaggelinos who has done some great work ( '' Hold me '' ) and some bad work ( '' This is love ).
I think he learned from his mistaked last year and they will present something really good so Azerbaijan will qualify, but on song alone I agree with you, there are better tracks in the semi.

I think Lithuania will qualify. Never underestimate the sweet, slow songs. We almost always have a song like that qualifying every year.
In semis that are easier than this year's Semi 1 though. In a semi where entries like Azerbaijan, Austria, Belarus can easily miss out, a song like Lithuania just doesnt stand a chance
Why not? It's different from uptempo pop songs or pop ballads. The only competition Lithuania has in its own category is Ireland but I think Ieva's sweetness definitely outshines anything Ireland has to offer. Plus, Lithuania will get 12 points from Ireland and UK televote and probably high points from Estonia and Belarus and some other Eastern bloc countries. I can easily see Lithuania being top 10 in the televote, it just depends on what the jury does and that's impossible to predict.
Lithuania has a chance but they are fighting an uphill battle with terrible placing in the running order. It is looking like a bathroom break right now. #unfortunately.
I feel an emotional song will qualify (at least for the televote) so yep Lithuania might do it. Or Ireland even.. such a good draw.

Cyprus 2015
My predictions:
For-Sure Qualifiers:
Czech Republic (great overall package and performing before Lithuania which could stand out)
Israel (Heavy Favourite and just after Lithuania, best possible scenario)
Estonia (Juries may downvote this as they have a history of not liking opera or popera entries, but televote should be more than enough to secure their spot in the final)
Bulgaria (another favourite, bonus for strong and harmonious vocals)
Greece (very ethnic, will definitely get 12 from Cyprus)
Cyprus (Should most likely get 12 points from Greece and early rehearsal footage prove promising)
Safe bets:
Armenia (Staging is their forte and I am expecting nothing less from them)
Finland (Well-known act, plus UK is voting in that semi-final so they may properly give Saara some X-Factor love back)
Belgium (They tend to be very strong in the televote section)
50-50:
Azerbaijan (100% qualification streak in jeopardy due to weak song)
Albania (In semi-final of death, may be heavily underrated but Eugent's strong vocals could save Albania)
Austria (May finish 11th even with great staging cos way too many good acts)
Switzerland (Underrated song, staging could be deciding factor)
Struggling:
Lithuania (Sandwiched between favourites Czech Republic and Israel, could prove difficult)
Belarus (Unless vocals are improved drastically, this could struggle really hard)
FYR Macedonia (Had history of not qualifying despite sending strong entries, could be the case again I'm afraid)
Croatia (Performing after FYR Macedonia could hurt really hard)
Ireland (Song that doesn't stand out, plus it's before Cyprus)
No chance:
Iceland (Given death spot number 2, weak af song and a whole lot of reasons. They would have slightly better songs if they had selected "Gold Digger", "Battleline" or "I Stormi" although none of the Songvakkepin songs would even stand a chance to qualify. Sorry Iceland but better luck next year)

Honestly, I think Lithuania has a chance. Belarus, UK, Estonia and Ireland are in the semi, and those typically give a lot of points to them. Plus, I've seen a lot of people hate Czechia and Israel, usually those who hate one hate both. Lithuania could be a nice and sweet break between the high energy pop for some people, and potentially attract televotes. Plus I've already phoned my belgian and spanish family to vote for Ieva xD

Since when is the UK in the semifinal?
The UK votes in Semi Final 1, along with a brief performance from the Jury rehearsal. Same for Portugal and Spain.
The border line I would put Belarus Azerbaijan Finland and Belgium. And I really really hope Belarus can qualify. His other live performance, especially when he sang on his concerts and in Ukrainian version are much better, but I know there're lots of haters because of that single national final performance.....
Btw, I would switch Armenia to Switzerland tho, cuz Switzerland will perform in the 2nd half

I love Albania. His vocal is fire but I did prefer the longer version of the song, it took me more on a journey. This shortened version unfortunately lost a bit. PLEASE don't forget that this semi is truly the semi of DEATH. tough decisions had to be made.

You are underestimating Macedonia so hard.
If Fyr Macedonia didnt qualify with Dance alone which was a far superior song in a far easier semi, they dont stand a chance in the bloodbath that semi 1 is this year.
We'll see. I don't think "Dance Alone" was a better song by any means, and the Eye Cue singer is more talented for my taste but again, we'll see. I think the juries could push it to the final.
Toallín / Lumostark- I think it will do better in televote. Juries dont go for this type of songs.
Eye Cue is better than last year... HOWEVER, Dance Alone should have qualified last year. Jana's semi was FAR easier than this.
This is clearly a harder semifinal but I see Macedonia going through instead of Armenia easily. The guy has a good voice but the song is really average for me.
It's sad to see how high the hopes were for Greece...
Also imagine thinking 3rd place wasn't gonna qualify. At the time we never knew Cesar would serve for us.
Also, side note but I think Alessia has a misconception about slower songs sandwiched between 'hype' songs. She always says that's a death knell, and did the same in 2019 with N Macedonia and look what happened. I think that predictive idea might be flawed.

Jose Uribe But in our semifinal there are countries that has also no voting allies. And + Azerbaijan and Armenia will never vote for each other. I think Mikolas has bigger chance than Gabriela in 2016

Czech Republic (I think he will still easily qualify for the final, but I think he may be in a bit of trouble for consideration of a super high finish -- people seem to be tiring of the whole "school boy with backpack" schtick he's been trotting out in his pre-concert performances, as much charisma as he indeed has, and he's actually been recently overtaken by Bulgaria for #2 in TH-cam views in this semi)
Very Likely:
4. Macedonia -- Yes this will be polarizing to some people (and maybe some on the jury, which may cost it some, but more people appreciate it for doing something different and her strong vocals than I think hate it for being structured "weirdly")
5. Belgium - Her misstep in the pre-concert performance kind of has seemed to stunt her ability to keep pace with the top group, and I am a little bit worried that the staging won't really evoke the feeling of the video -- BUT as long as her vocals are on point again, I think most people's love of the song/video will win out and easily send her through
6. Estonia -- Honestly I've kind of lost the love for it that I had early, but now that we know the dress IS coming with her, the first time viewers I think will be wowed enough by it to send it through (as long as there's not some weird malfunction) -- but it will be interesting to see what the jury does -- we'll definitely get a sense of her prospects for any sort of stellar final result from that
In position, but with concerns:
7. Austria -- Personally, i would have this as borderline, but enough people seem to like both his vocal (which is strong) and the video (which is very artsy) -- I just kind of worry that the performance on the night will have him just standing at a mic center stage, and that might come off as too boring to some, which could hurt him more than it should
8. Lithuania -- Actually seems to be gaining a lot of traction with fans, her sweet sentimentality and the video i think really speaks to people and makes them feel a nostalgia/appreciation for their loved ones -- she COULD get overlooked and outperformed on the night by other more dynamic/POW acts,
9. Greece -- This is in my top 3, personally, but it doesn't seem to be having much of a vocal groundswell of support (even though most other fans i know seem to have a positive view of it, that i know) because with everything up in the air and no one knowing what to expect since she hasn't performed live yet, there's just too many questions about it right now -- BUT if they get the staging right (PRAYING HARDCORE they evoke Loreen 2012 on that), it would be a WOW moment for the Eurovision AGES
10. Ireland -- I was ready to pronounce this dead in the qualification waters weeks ago, but all of a sudden it's seemed to gain a TON of momentum in the last couple of weeks, and I think the message of the video with the two men is just very current and connects with people, and the fact they'll be there on stage I think gives this an INSTANT familiarity that fans will latch on to, but not in an in your face way that may turn new viewers on the night off
Azerbaijan always stages well and is right in the thick of it, so none of the ones at the bottom can rest easy -- Belarus, Armenia, Cyprus and Albania maybe have a bit of a shot, but they'd each have to deliver something REALLY dynamic -- there's just too many negatives (for me) to put Belarus really close -- Armenia has the voice but I'm not sure the dynamic ability to fill a big stage -- Cyprus I guiltily sort of WANT to qualify (and I want the staging to incorporate a staircase for that epic attitude full walk down), but there are as many things to like the song for as to not like it for -- Eugent I KNOW will deliver on stage, but I just worry he will be undone ONLY because of the passport issues that didn't allow him to be out their building public support in performance for weeks, which is very critical (if there was a hope of an 11th spot, i say give it to him)

This is a hard one; if we were solely basing it on the song, I'd say it wouldn't qualify, probably end up in the same place as Brendan roughly. The fact that the staging is going to be based on the music video gives me pause for thought, because I could see that helping Ireland either just get into the final or just miss it.
I hope you are wrong about Cyprus. I see it as generic as Azerbaijan and if it goes to the final, better songs will be left behind, so no.

i had a hard time watching this video and letting go of some of my faves, i'm not mentally prepared for semi-final 1, almost in tears

i don't think belarus has much of a chance as they are mostly reliant on their neighbours and moldova, russia and ukraine are not in this semi it's such a shame that most ppl don't think albania will qualify. all of their big voters are in this semi and it's a great song.
I have only one thing to say and this is that I hate the difference between semi 1 and 2. In semi 1 I like 14 of the songs, so no matter what, songs that I like will get left out. In second semi, I only like 5 songs. And let's face it, this means Norway is quilifying. Yuck.

imho, Bulgaria and Israel are the only sure qualifiers. Czech Republic and Cyprus will do well with the televoting but I think that the jury might smack them quite a bit (rightfully so). On the other hand, Estonia and Belgium might count on some jury love, but not so much with the public. As for Greece, I just need to see her perform live because I have no idea how it's gonna end up (song is amazing tho) and the same goes for Finland because Saara's performance in the NF was kinda... shaky. And I think that it is quite possible for FYR Macedonia to sneak in the finals because that guy from Belarus is a weak singer.
With the performances today, israel could fall flat

I would only change Belarus with Fyr Macedonia from the prediction list and I'd be ready to go...
I think finland saraa has a lot of support from the U.K as we all know her ability from x factor i also think Macedonia will do well in the televote it has my vote for sure
Em frem look Macedonia is a GREAT SONG. It is one of my favorites... by that staging NEEDS to be right. NEEDS. Last year they had a great song and the semi wasn’t too competitive, but it fell “flat,” live.... ugh we will see...

Cyprus is TRASH so I will be VERY happy if they make it and Cyprus going back to garbage...

Armenia song is awful i mean it is by far the worst entry by far in this semifinal there’s no top where I see Armenia up to qualify ... azerbaijan does not deserve to qualify but we no the rigged way as the cheat and pay for votes from poor countries

I would love to see Azerbaijan stay in the semi final. I like the song but it feels like they just threw in the towel compared to last year. However, they qualified in years that I really didn’t think they would (2011, 2014, 2016) so I’m worried they’ll also make it this year

How many other sleepy songs are there? I think Lithuania will stand out massively between 2 in your face up-tempo songs. You have it going out but Belarus going through, despite coming straight after Israel and with questionable vocals. Interesting.

Srdjan Savic Spain and Germany aren't like Lithuania. I might give you Portugal. But even Portugal has a beat.
But they are slower songs that I think more people will respond to than Lithuania. So even if Lithuania somehow makes it to the final I can't see it doing very well.
Cyprus for me is not a safe quilifier. I just dont think her vocals are gona work for eurovision.

Eurovision Tales i am not gona be tricked by that. She isnt dancing or singing it fast. This was just a fail rehershal for me. And the other clip with the choir is also a fail cause the other voices is covering her and we cant hear her voice.
Sound Mixing. It is real. IT is a skill, and it will cover any inconsistencies with the live vocal. Like it or not.
Vocals will be the least important thing for that entry. She will have backing vocals to hide it.

Lithuania will not gonna qualify unfortunately but I want them to be on the finals. Albania will qualify trust me! Juries will bring Albania to Rank 5 or even Rank 3.

Oooh yeah This year is so tough. I think Israel is sure QF and iceland is a non QF. The others songs are borderline for me. Sunday is the first day of rehearsals so we have more details of the staging.
I know you're American but might have to think of the Europeans' perspective. I'm sure Lithuania has a chance at qualifying, Europe can always use a bit of slow, nice, peaceful song after all the pops and "loud" music. Like, Lithuania is a calming, soothing song.
Me thinking of the European perspective is highlighted in my "REALITY" vs. my "PERSONA:" qualifiers.
Ruby Chiang I'm European and I agree with Alesia. I like Lithuanian song quite a lot, but I find it more a background music and not a banger. This is the kind of music I'd listen to while working, not something to jam to. Seeing that semifinal 1 has many real bangers, Lithuania can get lost in translation. Honestly, it would've had more chances in 2nd semi.

I agree with you 90%. My 10% is that I believe Austria , Belgium, Finland and Arzebajzan will be from 8th-11th place and that Azerbaijan will make it to the final and Austria won't! Why? Greece and Cyprus will give from the juries 10 + 10 points to Azerbaijan! Dimitris Kontopoulos wrote the music and Fokas Evangelinos and his team are responsible for the staging! From the televoiting they will have at least 5 + 6 points! Albania will have 10 from Greece and I think that Armenia and Bulgaria will have 8 +7 and Israel 6. And Cyprus will give 10 to Armenia 8 to Israel and & 7 to Bulgaria! So Azerbaijan will have at least 31 points from Greece and Cyprus!

I don’t think it’s even possible for them to qualify, I mean the guy can sing but the song is simply meh. On the other side I think Austria will make it, Cesar has amazing vocals and high notes, a good/catchy song and also a good stage presence so if they do a good job with the stage, he goes all the way to the final.

I dont agree at all with you because the year when Kaliopi was singing Dona you said this is definitely in the finals and yet Macedonia didnt make it then!Las year Dance alone was amazing but honestly her vocals wasn't so good live but this year Macedonia has a great song matching a great voice!!!!,Maria slays when she sings,she has one of the best vocals this year!Macedonia must qualify!If not lets blame the politics,what else!?
Lets be honest, dance alone would have qualified if the staging was better. They choose a nothingly background and put Jana in a hooker outfit dancing awkwardly around. It was a mess and didnt deserve to qualify.
Your recommendation for Ireland's staging is exactly the same idea I had the other week, it could so work with just two dancers telling the story. Mostly agreed with your predictions, it's probably false hope that I really want FYR Macedonia in the final over Armenia, but I don't think Armenia are that strong this year :) can't wait for SM2 predictions ;)
