This was arguably the best set of showcases of the season.
Only exactly 5/6 show of the season; season-high in winnings at 125k+. Everything was easy and honestly that One Away Pat ended up causing everything that went wrong, including this. What was he thinking on that bid? - บันเทิง

That second bid was painful to watch, the bidder was basically saying that convertible was under $15k.
But they were saying the minicouper was more expensive than the pickup truck. That is outrageous.

It's aged well, too. I just re-watched the whole series over the past few months - a lot of sitcoms and movies haven't, but all the jokes are about food and drink, or the rat race, or dating, so it's held up.

I remember this old trick. Even if both showcase are the same, Mimi fools us thinking the first showcase was better. We were all wong. On the 2nd showcase, Mimi puts a extra something which worth a lot. The lesson we need to learn here is to always think twice before making a decision. If the first showcase does have a car, the 2nd showcase might have something better or worst. Anyway, Detective KIDS got us again :)
What I find funny is that Drew said that he knew the winner was Pat... What if they both went over? Then Pat doesn't win. XD

Only if the second Pat knew the first Pat had drastically underbid, which he did. Then he could try to overbid on his second car and add that to the first Pat's bid to partially cancel out his underbid, then he wins. But the second Pat was way, way off on the price of the second car, so he screwed it up. If the first Pat had only underbid by a little, the second Pat could only afford to be a little over on the second car and couldn't be under at all if he was to start with the first Pat's bid.
Being with some of the comments I am wondering has a tie ever happen in the SCS? Where both are off by the exact same amount without going over.

I'm guessing they gave all the contestants the fake name Pat. But one thing to mention when they're actually taping the show (as I've been in the audience a couple times), is that when they call a contestant to come on down, they also hold up a cue card with the contestant's name for the audience to see (as the audience can be rather loud). So I'm assuming when they called one of the "Pats" from the audience, they held up a cue card with the contestant's actual name so they'd know who was being called down.
They were very creative with this one.

Has anyone ever won when their bid was half of the actual value? (Example: I bid $12000, the actual price was $24000, but I win with a difference of $12000 because the other contestant's bid was worse or went over)
People have won the Showcase Showdown by bidding $1 dozens (maybe hundreds) of times when they knew the first bidder overbid.
The Pat on the left knew immediately he lost when they said the Pat on the right showcase's price, unless new Mini Coopers sell for less than $6,049. Anyway, TPIR couldn't have two of the exact showcases. If they did that, then the contestants could bid like they do for prizes to get them on stage, with one twist. If the second contestant was convinced the first contestant under-bid by a long shot, either just bid one dollar more, or do what they can't do to get on stage: Bid the same price. Both would win because they tied.
The difference in their bids was $14,647, but yeah, he should have known he lost immediately after bidding.
