    Looks like an awesome trip! Nothing like having the Park to yourself for a night :) Moved away from the area a number of years ago and I sure do miss Banff. Thanks for the beautiful video!

    Taylor Lake is nice all year round! I also like The Point off K lakes as once the ice is thick enough u can walk across the lake :)

    Stunning scenery! I've hiked around Banff and Jasper, but not in wintwer conditions. Nice to see someone who knows what they're doing, and who doesn't have their truck parked 5 minutes away (to sleep in). Keep up the good work. Nigel, Scotland.

    Super winter adventure! Great film and atmosphere of this amazing place. I like the fact that you were very descriptive of the hike.

    Short and sweet, good to see the gas stove working well at that temperature also

      That stove always works well. I’ll need to figure out what temp the internal pressure in the can just doesn’t keep up.

    Beautiful evening in the Rockies, I'm sorry Kane I just cannot get my head around winter camping ... but so glad I get to share it with you, keep them coming (there's that Mid Solid again as a fly shelter, it's on my state side shopping list or 2024, did you ask Dan why we Canadian's cannot but his tents in Canada, sure I already know his answer LOL)

      Winter is a different game - definitely not for everyone. On top of that it can be a big investment in gear for a few trips each year. As for the x-mids I'm not sure what the story is about where they sell from the US or in USD vs CAD.

    Great video. Loved the shot of the moon over the mountains/tent. How do you find those snowshoes? Do you add the tails? I’m about 215lbs + all the gear for winter backpacking. I’m looking to get a new pair this winter so would love to hear how these work for you.

      @KaneDoesOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm right around 200 these days. I got the 30" model since I had shorter Denalis for years. The Denalis help a lot but lacked sufficient float. I think these will be good, but I haven't used them a ton yet. Not a big fan of the tails since you're adding more floatation at the back and you kind of sink in from the toe end at at forward angle. Rather lack a bit of floatation but stay level.

    What clothes do you wear for sleep to maximize warmth? Thanks for all of your great and beautiful videos.

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve got a sleep system video in the works. The spoiler is that I go to sleep in whatever active clothing I have on with some minor adjustments. Good bag and pad are key.

    Nice setup in a beautiful spot . I never ask myself wich sleeping bag I bring in winter , alway's my warmest , my Marmot -40 , I like my comfort 😂 . How do you manage your boots from freezing at night , do you wear a vapor barrier between your socks and boots?

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes the vapour barrier is key! I will need to do a video on that topic.

    • @JessicaTPeterson

      @@KaneDoesOutdoors That would be really helpful. I find that boots with removable liners are too loose, clunky, and floppy when snowshoeing, but I feel like I need to use them anyway so I can keep the liners in my sleeping bag at night.

      When I say that stove works well, I’m being dead serious. 190 g without the canister stand is impressive, 205 g with it. I looked up the Kovea stove some people have suggested, it’s also 190 g. It would take a pretty convincing performance advantage for me to switch.

    Why didn't you just tramp down the snow in the tent area instal of doing all that shoveling?
    Using an inflation bag as you did for insulated air mattresses is great. No wet, bacteria laden air from your lungs contaminating the mattress and wetting it inside for la=ess insulation.
    Personally I prefer the white gas (petrol)more of my MSR Whisperlite Universal stove. I use a light painted plywood stove base to prevent it from melting into the snow.

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did pack all the snow down. There was just a bump that needed levelling out. The whisperlite comes out for longer trips.
