  • Today I’m inspecting a medical imaging suite with an abandoned MRI scan machine and CT scan machine. It is shocking to see these amazing radiology devices in this condition. If you're wondering what an MRI and CT look like, join me as I explore this forgotten medical imaging center that lies at the heart of downtown.

    Exactly why people cant afford medical help! Just imagine how much money that has been spent just to walk away from all the equipment.

      The location likely filed bankruptcy and the equipment was tied up in legal issues. It may even have been written off and/or considered unusable/non resellable.

    • @MRIPETCTSupportEngineer
      @MRIPETCTSupportEngineer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It is scary to think about, but it does happen. Luckily MRIs have built-in safety features to prevent a quench, or rapid loss of magnetic field, in these types of situations, but the magnet can only sustain the low temperatures needed for superconductivity for a few days without the coldhead working, maybe 10 days max. There is also a mechanical emergency table release just in case the patient is inside. Thank you for your comment!

    • @MRIPETCTSupportEngineer
      @MRIPETCTSupportEngineer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are absolutely correct. All MRI should always be considered active even when the coldhead is off. This particular magnet was decommissioned/quenched some time ago and 99% of the magnetic field was lost in the process, so the room was relatively safe to record with a camera at the time. If the magnet is on, I typically have to stand as far back as I can so the magnetic field does not affect the focus of the camera
