Hahaha I think that was my comment on the survey XD I remember saying something about how I thought this one'd be a nightmare to translate (v. curious which one is turning out to be troublesome :O). This song's such fun, and omg I've been dying to know wtf is up with the ketchup line XD I love the classmate albums. Thanks for the TL again :D
lmao honestly I thought it sounded like you! Yeah, this song was easier than I expected, but it helps that the jokes are more random wordplay than anything meaningful (giving me freedom to change the puns without compromising a whole line's intended meaning). And then there's Ano Ko o Tsurete World Cup... for whatever reason, despite Kotake not being a punny character at all, nearly EVERY line of that song contains very purposeful wordplay involving the names of soccer players. (I sent the lyrics to another Japanese-speaking friend of mine and she was HORRIFIED lol.) I've... sort of managed to localize most of that song too, but it's definitely not pretty haha.

I've thought before that the SOS Trio/Toyoken are... idk how to put it... a translator's dream, I guess? in that respect. like, usually punny characters like them would be a nightmare to translate, but since their schtick is that their jokes are _supposed_ to be unfunny, it doesn't really matter if they don't make sense/aren't funny after translating. you know? ahh I wondered if it was Kotake's song! and dang, I knew it namedropped a bunch of footballers but I didn't realize there were puns involved too :O That's weird they'd do that with Kotake of all characters, but then I guess the classmate CDs are a bit goofier than usual in general, really? Like.. Tamaki and Nishizawa-sensei break the fourth wall in their songs, if I'm understanding those parts correctly.
SOS Trio really kicked out the best character and replaced him with the worst. 😔 (jk, Satojun is... fine? I just wish he got more character development as deserving of his namesake.)
Toyoken > SOS trio Sagawa and Ota were a jerks with Sugiyama… Since then I dislike them. I find Satojun a somewhat unpleasant character, but Ogura is another thing.
