- Welcome to Twin Elm Farms! On this channel we show what its like to farm in southern Manitoba, Canada. The farm consists of Kendal, wife Lindsay their kids Hayley, Parker, Jaxon and Brock. Kendal's older brother Darryl, wife Heather, their kids Mackenzie, Dylan, Quin and Ryenne. With our right hand man Pieter. We have other part time help throughout the season, Arch (combine operator) Terry (field work) and Rob (cattle help). We crop corn, soybeans, wheat, oats and canola. We have a cow/calf operation of mostly Simmental and Shorthorn with some other breeds in the mix. Hope you enjoy our content, please subscribe, give it a thumbs up and love hearing comments.
That little brown and white calf that’s full of pep is definitely a show stopper..
That one lil calf was so cute & spunky❤
Glad to see the good rate of success with your calving!!
A very productive calving day. Fun to watch, thanks for the video.
You guys should be the model every rancher follows. Videos are great; we love watching your life.
Favorite guys to watch this time of year! Had to binge to catch up my own farm has been busy as well this year...lots of new projects for me but couldnt miss yall!!❤❤
Thanks, that's great to hear.
I just love the calves with the white markings. They are just beautifully marked & seem lively.
Good job, your batting 110%, over here we are just getting started, 2 calved out, lost one, that's the cattle business sometimes
Yep, losing livestock is part of it... we did technically lose a calf 2 months ago, a cow slipped a calf prematurely.... I should put that in my numbers
Love watching all of your videos.
Watching your videos of calving is making me start to think maybe it’s time to start setting up for calving season, we’re about 20 days away yet but it always comes out of know where! Calves are looking good cheers.
Every year we think we have more time to get things ready but it always sneaks up on us
very good .
Love the videos
Keep the calving videos coming !!❤😊
Love watching how respectful you are to your animals.
You’ve sure got a colourful herd there 👍. Looks a little warmer there too.
What a great video I loved the cow standing in the door looked like a ghost cow.
Perfect timing. I can watch this video in church with the sound off.
Lol, I need to add some scripture for my Sunday morning videos
THATS HILARIOUS!!! I'm a pastor!!!
Thise frost fighters are awesome. Try and keep your eye on some auctions for propane fired front fighter. Way way Cleaner Buring no potential to gas yourself out.
That office looks good when it’s clean. If you would just get that door to go all the way down and not have that gap under it.
Some great looking calves. Those mamas that are protective are scary. Do you get rid of mamas that are aggressive?
If they are really bad, yes. We don't mind a couple of protective mothers. They often raise great calves and we topically remember which ones are like that... we have a cow we call, man cow, she is nuts for 3 days and then calms right down. She raises awesome calves. We just know to give her space.
Do you have a camera in your calving Barn to keep an eye on cattle
Yes we do. And one outside
I’m a new viewer, and I’m really interested in your content. May I, respectfully, ask why the mothers are sent outside of the barn, and the calves are kept inside without them all day? I thought the calves needed more frequent feedings, rather than twice a day. Thank you. Forgive my ignorance 🙏
We let the cows out first thing in the morning and bring them back into the barn either before lunch or right after. The reason, if we haven't seen the calf eat from mom then often they do as soon as you bring them back together. Another reason, if the cow is not being a good mother, distance from the calf can actually help. Thanks for asking and hopefully that makes sense.
@ Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond to my questions. What you said makes sense to me now. I live in Brisbane, Australia and so I’m very interested in learning more about how things are done in different parts of the world! I appreciate your time very much. 🤗🇦🇺
No problem, always enjoy hearing where viewers are watching from.
@ oh yes haha, I come from the land down under 🇦🇺 🤗
How do you choose which bulls to clip? Also what is the ratio now?
We do embryos for 2 pure bred farmers. Those bull calves we keep intact, everything else gets✂️
Hi guys. I couldn’t see their water bowls?
Our cows are fed, bed, and get proper water daily. Water is the cheapest expense.
